Seagate Barracuda 2TB $165 Pickup avail

240

Another 2tb drive for $165, pickup available from Lidcombe NSW
I'm guessing these will become more and more common, probably not even considered a 'great' deal but still pretty good surely?

    Keep this in mind:

I don't work for Mwave, but I've bought many things from them without any issues.

I've been buying Seagate drives for many years without any dramas. As with any electronic part, they will eventually fail, especially hard drives with their moving mechanisms.

That's good to hear; I've no opinion on either company, and it's a good price — I am providing salient information with which people can make informed decisions. Do you have a problem with that?

        • All I'll say is, my order is placed today and I'll pick up the goods tommorow. What more can I ask for? Re the Newegg site - how many people would bother putting up a good review..unlikely. Refer to whingepool, sorry whirlpool…how many good news stories do you hear there?

Anyway, this is all a bit off-topic. $165 is a very good price, considering last week I checked staticice and best price was $189. If anyone has a hardware issue, I've dealt with Seagate directly in the past for other peoples HDD's and they are very prompt with service, that is, incase you don't want to deal with the retailer Mwave.

@HONDA4LIFE: Are you suggesting that being uninformed is better than being informed?

Also, your information is incorrect: plenty of people write good reviews on Newegg; and there is plenty of useful information on Whirlpool, not just "whingeing."

              • @HONDA4LIFE: What does Harvey Norman have to do with anything? It is clear to me that you are attempting to divert attention from the fact that Mwave broke the law, and that a notable portion of people have found this drive unreliable.

As I previously stated, I have no opinion on either company, however, these facts are salient to any decision that involves this drive or this retailer, so why should they not be presented?

This hard drive is no good. It has no cover protecting the internals, as you can see in the photo. It might be fun to look at the moving parts inside however. Buyer beware.

huh? You mean like this http://hardwarelogic.com/articles.php?id=5578&page=2 ?

I reckon all consumer grade HDs in last 20 years or so like that.

      • Agreed timhn. Not sure what HDD's TonyP purchases..

        • lol

          • @MunkyX: I think TonyP was referring to the picture in the title, in which case he makes a valid point. But, he should know that the picture in the title is not of a purchasable HDD, and is for display purposes only! Of course all internal moving parts are covered.

@Marty131: C'mon people, I'm taking the p%ss. Of course it has a cover. I'm merely making light of the fact they tend to advertise HDD's without the drive cover. Why do they do this? They never show the internals of DVD burners, or printers, or scanners…..why HDD's?

              • @[Deactivated]: I thought you might be…but then you said 'Buyer Beware' All good.

                • @HONDA4LIFE: lol I didn't realise it was a joke either :D at least I know i'm not the only slow one though

      Buyer beware…you cannot be serious?

    • This reminds me of the "what is this, a school for ants?" scene in Zoolander…

  • Actually, I see that Staticice now shows IT Estate selling them for $165 too.

Looks like the supplier/wholesaler has dropped prices. Nice :-)

    Nice price.
I actually just ordered an Intel SSD from them about 1 hour ago.
Paid with Paypal, hope I can pick it up tomorrow.
I've never bought from them before.
Does anyone know how long normally for MWave to let you know when pick ups ready?

    • I thought I saw on their website 'instant pickup' but I did see a star next to it… Let us know

      • Well I'm still waiting for pick up response.
Status for the order says "Processing" in my account on their website.
I got confirmation that payment was received this morning at 9am.
Then I also got a response from the ticket response system saying stock is on hand.
But when I asked about when I can pick up through the system again and through instant online chat, I was given a generic response alone the lines of "1-3 days …".

Nice deal. However it's gonna be a while before I upgrade three of my 1.5 TB hard drives xD
