Just responding directly to how you put it (about woolies dollars equaling opal dollars). I'm just saying it's not really applicable if you don't live in Sydney and don't take public transport. You'll be surprised. There are people (probably not many ozbargainers, I would assume) who don't take public transport!

I have no issue with woolies dollars. $100 woolies dollars, $100 note, both are fine to me.

Yes, but hard to get approve.Also transaction (including available credit) may take up to 5 business day to appear in your account
They always appear as pending for me immediately and are subtracted from my available balance.
They change from pending to actual with 1-2 business days.
I had one around May last year, may be thing have changed since I complaint.

I'm confused by the comments. Is a "Woolworths dollar" equivalent to a real dollar but only redeemable at Woolworths (and subsidiaries, eg BigW)?
So get one of these cards in your name and another in partners name, spend $200 at Woolies and then cancel the card?
