    $94 for the $100 voucher

  • Cheers OP!

  • +1

Cash reward 5.5% but faster than getting these from Groupon
Cash reward allows us to buy directly from https://everydaygiftcards.com.au/ and takes hours
Groupon you need to wait 2-4 business days

    • +7

Cashrewards discount has reverted to 5%

    • -6

      I received mine instantly

      • No, you didn't.

        • -2

I placed my order at 8:31am and received the email with the card at 8:31 so yes I did

        • +4

@sshazam: probably just confirmation. Actual card comes later.

  • +3

thanks op, extra 1% and I'm not in a rush

  • +3

Bought one from cash rewards last night. Bugger

    • -7

you are talking something in the pass and the loophole has been closed by order refunded.

      • +13

By definition, the "cheapest ever" claim is compared with past prices. Find a cheaper price in the past - claim busted.

Many here received our cards in this $30 off $100 Wish eGift card Scoopon deal at Christmas.
I think that 30% discount was the "cheapest ever" ;-)

        • +3

I'm feeling nostalgic, that was such a great deal.

        • +5

          @strawberrybug:
Yes, I had an OzBargain tear in my eye as I used the last of those cards.

        • @Infidel: Yep, was an emotional moment for may of us haha- I grabbed 3. I can't see a deal like that again anytime soon.

        • Me too, but I had plenty of tissue to dry my eyes …

    • +11

Thanks for the deal OP but do we seriously need to try and sell the deals we post? Clearly it's not the cheapest ever, it's almost condescending to think we won't realise

      • I didn't see any complaints when tight arse claimed the same thing via cash rewards

        • +6

You mean 5.5% is now the best in-market discount for these eGift cards - correct at the time & not the overblown claim here.

At the moment this is the cheapest available deal on these cards, but not "cheapest ever". That's all that really counts - unless you're a time traveller.

        • @Infidel:

I was referring to this comment

Biggest ever discount on gift cards!! Now save 5.5% off groceries, petrol, liquor and more. Ends tonight.

        • @frazel:
Thanks frazel, for the clarification. But strange, I couldn't find that comment by TA in that deal. I searched it 3 times, including deal revisions. You provided no link. Hard to interpret your excerpt out of context.

Given the context of that deal, that would have referred solely to "Biggest ever discount on gift cards!!" at CashRewards - which was the deal, not cheapest ever in all deals (as claimed in the description of this deal - now wisely removed).

  • +2

Damn like a few others, i stocked up last night with the end of the 5.5% cashrewards deal.

  • +3

Time to buy 2 gc for opal top up. Thanks op.

    • Is this confirmed? Great if so!

      • +2

I have been using the E-giftcards for Opal top up with no issue for the last 6 months. I topped up using Wish E-giftcard 2 weeks ago at Central Park.

        • do all woollies do opal top ups?

        • @dajackal: can only confirm for central park and haymarket in Sydney.

  • Do these gift cards ever expire?

  • In the past buying from Groupon incurs overseas transaction charge which can shave off 1~3% of the savings. Sometimes it's better off to just buy from Everyday Gift Card (5% combine with Entertainment Book or Cashrewards) and pay with an American Express with possibly 1% approx worth of QFF points.

    • +1

      Huh?

      • +2

Two years ago bought gift card from Groupon and my credit card company charged me 2% foreign transaction charge. The transaction was in AUD however originated from Switzerland. So I am saying this eats away a big part of the supposed savings. Wanting people to be aware of this potential risk - not sure why being negged.

        • doesn't happen anymore.

        • +1

@easternculture: ok things have changed. I retract my comments.

        • this has happened to me as well with groupon, a while ago though. Below comments make sense in terms of the resolution.

        • @mastablasta:

I bought from them a few voucher 2 months ago via comm bank credit card and was not charged a fee. I'll upload a screen shot when I'm back from work

        • Yes same experience. Then there was the time they offered a super discount only to cancel it and eventually refund, but it still had the international fee. Terrible way to get these cards. Stick with Cashrewards or Entertainment Book.

        • @easternculture:
Did you used to get charged the fee with the same card, but now you don't?

Or alternatively, does the card charge the fee when a purchase is made in AUD yet the merchant is overseas? If they don't, then that would explain why you don't get charged a fee.

As an example, Citibank Signature cards now impose an international transaction fee when the purchase is in AUD, yet the merchant is overseas.

As an addendum, this could still be an issue because Groupon still have the topic in their FAQ: https://www.groupon.com.au/faq#general_questions_and_feedbac…

        • @mastablasta:

Edited it. Guess they've fixed the problem, based on the reports here.

    • +1

afaik, those who had been charged a overseas transaction charge were refunded with a simple inquiry email . Since then, its been fixed and doesnt happen anymore

      • Could you clarify if the inquiry email is to Groupon or to the credit card company?

Thanks for this, didn't know about it, just thought it's one of the gimmicky charges Groupon managed to slap on and must be buried in the T&Cs.

      • +3

Problem was, we had to notice the charge in our credit card statement & ask Groupon to refund it. A very dubious practice - to save Groupon local banking fees but moved their costs onto the buyer.

Apparently some did not notice the additional charge in their bank statements. Groupon had the fact that this would be an overseas transaction well & truly hidden in their long t&c.

I lodged a complaint as businesses with Australian websites should charge through Australian institutions, not overseas - incurring an unexpected foreign transaction charge for the buyer. And that buyers were not made aware of this at the time of purchase.

Groupon told me I should have known about the fee as it was clearly stated in their t&c (near the end from memory) I had agree to!!

I was not a happy bunny, and took up the matter with the ACCC. You never regain respect for a business when it is necessary to do so much to correct a problem they were aware of.

ACCC became involved after many complaints about this practice with a number of .au websites. Groupon said they worked with the ACCC to resolve the matter. But Groupon did not seem to act for their consumers until pushed into it.

    • +1

use Paypal. no problem at all.

  • I bought a woolies gc from groupon last time and i used it and it was used by another person!!

    • +2

that happened last year when a mass email was sent to all buyer with codes in a spreadsheet

Now all gift cards are sent from woolworths directly to prevent this kind of messup again

    • @Turd

      Did Groupon refund?

      • I only found out on the weekend when I tried to use it.

What should I do? Is it possible to get it back? Who should I email?

        • I don't know, but I'd ring or email Groupon with the details, before Woolies.

        • I got my Groupon purchase refunded by raising a Paypal Claim after my gift card was declined.

Bought the voucher and received it instantly

    • You sure it wasnt just a voucher from groupon stating this when you open it:
      1) THIS VOUCHER IS NOT APPLICABLE
FOR REDEMPTION – DO NOT USE THIS
VOUCHER ONLINE OR IN-STORE AT ANY
      WOOLWORTHS OUTLET
      2) TO REDEEM YOUR PURCHASE YOU
      MUST USE THE WOOLWORTHS
ELECTRONIC GIFT CARD THAT HAS BEEN
      EMAILED TO YOU FROM
      “@EVERYDAYGIFTCARDS.COM.AU”
      3) GROUPON VOUCHERS WILL NOT BE
      ACCEPTED FOR REDEMPTION

      • -1

No it's the voucher with all the details off the card.

        • I doubt that very much

  • +1

Do you have to use the whole value in one transaction?

    • +4

      No. Multiple transactions is fine

    • No, you can use any amount up to the total in any one transaction

    • You can even do split payments to use up the last few $… e.g., paying for $70 of petrol, pay $5.52 with card, remaining balance on eftpos. :)

    • -1

Yes and your total value needs to be exact amount as the gift card value, otherwise Woolies won't accept.

  • +2

For those with Amex Platinum Edge, the Cashrewards deal would've been better because I'd definitely value the extra points buying directly from Everyday Gift Cards for 3ppd at more than the 0.5% extra discount.

    • What is the annual fee on the platinum edge

      • +1

I pay $149 on mine, and the included flight has a value to me of $300… so Negative $151? :P

        • What is the usual annual fee? Is yours discounted

        • @easternculture:

Usual annual fee is $199, which is still less than the cost of the flight that you receive each year.

        • @easternculture:
Yeah usual $199, I have an industry card which nets me the discount, and there are a few industry groups that have access to said $149 rate (CPA, ADA, AMA, LIV, etc.).

        • @easternculture:
          It's $195 a year.
If you are like me and cant benefit from the flight every year then you can on sell your flight and actually make a profit as the flight offers return flights to the east coast from Perth.
If you were going to apply I can offer you a referral link so you will receive 15k points instead of 10k.

        • @donkcat: Where and approx how much can you sell the complementary flight for?

        • @raven2000:

Classifieds forum on here, GumTree, other community forums. You can easily get $300 if you wait - there's always someone wanting to fly from PER to BNE willing to pay that price (very often the actual ticket would cost them $800).

        • @kwchaz: Thanks for the tip!

  • +4

Still prefer to go thru everydaygiftcards.com.au to get 3 pts per $ on CC spend

    • You can pay groupon with amex too. If you use ANZ black would get 3 pts.

      • Through PayPal but only saw visa mc at Groupon.

  • Thanks EC just purchased.
This is my first time buying one of these, I just got an email saying:
Your Groupon for the deal $200 WISH Card is now available to view and download in your Groupon account. To redeem your Groupon, please follow the instructions in the fine print.

When I go to that voucher, it has a barcode and says "Voucher Value $200, this voucher is valid until 13.06.2017"
    1) THIS VOUCHER IS NOT APPLICABLE
FOR REDEMPTION – DO NOT USE THIS
VOUCHER ONLINE OR IN-STORE AT ANY
    WOOLWORTHS OUTLET

So do I still have to wait for another voucher to arrive?

    • +1

      Yes

      • Okay thanks, I'll be a bit more patient :)

        • just hold it a bit longer..

    • $98?

      • +1

$100 RACV wish giftcard costs $95 with racv membership card, then pay with ING paywave gives me another 2% ($1.90) off

  • +3
