https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00QS0AKVK/ better off going with this to be honest way cheaper and a better screen

    • +1

looks like shite though, no height adjustment looks like + the bezel.

      • +2

The U2515H can be had for $249 "As New" on the Dell outlet if you get lucky. It is also 25" and 1440p IPS. About 5 weeks ago there were a couple on there, but I'd just bought a new 23" a few days prior :(. Pretty sure the U2515H is the same as the U2715H feature wise, just slightly smaller. Only downside would be 1 yr warranty.

        • +2

have the U2515H - great screen

        • Why was this not published!! I've been waiting ages for a U2515H, damn !!

        • Yep Agree, love my 2515H.

Also i've never seen the 250$ deal, but the day that happens I'm going to have to snap one up and an arm thing to multimonitor with my current one (currently my 2nd screen is a non matching asus)

      • +1

its actually great put 15 bucks into it to get a vesa mount and its even better and still way chepaer ive used both screens and this one is way better only reason imma upgrade is to a 1440p 144hz when i get my gtx 1080 :)

remember your paying 500 + compare to 350ish (thats including buying the vesa mount which isnt neccesary)

        • +3

You are comparing a 25" Acer from the USA at AU$433 (US$260+US$43=US$303 = ±AU$433) delivered (if of course they delivered to Australia, which your link says they don't) with a 27" Dell Ultrasharp with a 3 year Premium Panel warranty for $117 more ?

I don't get the comparison, because IMO there isn't one. The Dell is bigger, better, superior colours, better build and stand, locally supported - paying the extra $ is a no-brainer IMO.

For the record, the "normal" (no 20% discount) price of the U2515H at Futu was $465 so it was only $30 more than the Acer in your link - again a no-brainer.

I bought a U2715H from Futu with the first 20% off deal a couple of weeks ago, and it is a great monitor.

        • @Andy01: There isn't a normal price and you didn't account for them putting up prices before the 20% deal. Extremely dodgy pricing comparison lol.

        • -2

no ive used the dell and its actually not better quality ive used it at work and the better buld part no again. i paid 380 alot more than just 30 more. and they actually do deliver read again :) but hatters gonna hate. this is ozbargain get it cheaper is better ?. locally support ? they are both international sellers and futu isnt a company that supports local economy either nice try there yeah a no brainer indead

dont blame me the dollar changed :)

        • +1

The "normal" price at Futu Online of the 25" U2515H was $470 (I said $465 above but checked again, and it was $470) for the Dell U2515H in mid May - long before either of the 20% off deals started. Futu, Shopping Express and one other were all $470 (I think there are all the same company). So yes, that was the normal price. My U2410 started failing in late April so I have been watching the U2515H and U2715H since then looking for a deal.

Before the 20% deal, Futu had their Dell U2715H on eBay for $670 (it had been $670 since I started looking in early May) and they put the price up to $700 the day before the first deal started. I was checking in daily and didn't think that a 4.5% increase to get 20% off was too bad actually.

The point was that it may be more realistic to compare a 25" Acer with a 25" Dell Ultrasharp with 3 year exchange warranty, and find that they are actually quite close in price - $380 (as claimed above with a $0.797 exchange rate - for most of us getting closer to $0.73 exchange rate the price would be AU$415 + international CC fees or PayPal rate hits) for an imported Acer with no local warranty, or $447 for a locally supplied Dell U2515H (currently offered by Futu at $559-20%) with a 3 year exchange warranty. I would pay the $20-30 I think.

To compare an imported 25" Acer with no support with a local 27" Dell Ultrasharp with 3 year exchange warranty and find that the Acer is cheaper should not come as a major surprise I don't think.

          @Alien
I am not sure where you managed to get a US$ exchange rate of $0.797 recently (US$303 / AU$380 = 0.797), but please share it because that is really good.
Also, AFAIK Futu is based in Sydney, and their Dell monitors are supplied and warranted by Dell Australia - I got that in writing from them before buying. So the company may be owned by non-Australians, but their Dell stock and support is very much Australian. I am more concerned with having a local warranty than supporting an Australian company.

It is not about hating. I simply don't think that Acer is in the same league as Dell for monitors (unless of course you just want a basic internet and gaming monitor maybe ?), and especially so when comparing an unsupported Acer with a locally warranted Dell Ultrasharp - it really IS A no-brainer. I could buy a "As New" Dell 25" on their outlet shop with a 1 year warranty (still better than your Acer) for a lot less than $380 if I wanted to forgo the 3 year warranty.

          @Andy01:

back when before the gov screwed our dollar a while ago.

wiht dell they may have a australian based store wanna take a bet if they pay taxes here ? again u may think dell monitors are better but ive used soo many dells and nothing but issue also it does come with warranty when i got mine it was 3 years included (amazon pays the shipping there and back) with the 2 latter years by acer now i think its only one year completely covered by amazon.

this is a site about getting the best bargain remember i got the vesa mount with it for still cheaper (mines wall mounted at home atm but the stand isnt that bad ) acer has great monitors prime example is the http://www.msy.com.au/saonline/peripherals/16515--acer-ips-2…

in the end its upto preference and experience but ur arguements are easly biased aswell.

in short dell isnt supporting australia as thought
ive had the u2515H (2 of them and my friend has 1 ) with issues so Quality control issues maybe he got ours from futu online (i didnt know of futu back then)
again still cheaper even with the horrible rate of the aud happened (again thanks govt)
the acer monitor has warranty (dont know where u got that from)
acers are actualy not trash (dont know where u got thise idea from iether)
enjoy your monitor hopefully u didnt get the bad experience we got. not trying to be a dick just trying to share the right information i suggestion reading the link as youve made a few wrong comments leading me to guess you dont know how amazon works :)

        • @AliensStoleMyMoney:

I did not say that Acer monitors were trash - I just don't think that they have either the build quality or photographic display quality that a Dell Ultrasharp has.

As for warranty - IMO sending a monitor back to the US (to Amazon) and waiting 2-3 weeks for a replacement may be a "warranty", but it is a little different to Dell sending me a replacement monitor overnight, and then collecting the old one a few days later. With the Acer you are physically without a monitor for a number of weeks, whereas with Dell there is no downtime if the replacement is for something like hot pixels, or lines where the monitor can still be used.

I have claimed from Amazon for a faulty Sandisk USB 3.0 64Gb, and while they are sending me a replacement at no cost (which is good), it is taking 2 weeks at least to get here (not here yet - ordered 10 days ago), so yes there is a warranty if you are patient. Not quite in the same league as an overnight replacement though.

I have used the Dell warranty system and they happily replaced my 4 years & 10 months old Ultrasharp U2408 with a U2410 at no cost to me, and no downtime (I had extended the warranty to 5 years). The 2408 developed a thin line down the monitor, and they replaced it with an exchange unit (newer model). The U2410 is now starting to play up a little, hence the replacement, but my original Dell 24" served me well for 8 years, which I can not complain about.

    Great screen and good deal.

Just for awareness the "new version" has just been released. Review of Dell U2717D on TFT Central dated 8 June 2016 with comparison against U2715H.
    http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/dell_u2717d.htm

    Conclusion (NEW U2717D)
Dell haven't changed a huge amount with the new U2717D compared with the old U2715H but there are a few differences of note. The new model has a zero frame design around all sides which looks attractive and smart, and we think we like the new darker silver stand and base a little more than the light silver stand of previous models. There's one less HDMI port provided on the new model (oddly), but the connectivity and functionality are still excellent, and we did like the easier access USB ports on the side of the screen. Underneath all that, Dell have switched from an LG.Display IPS panel to a Samsung PLS panel but really the performance remains very comparable. The new screen does carry a more accurate factory calibration and a slightly better contrast ratio which is good news. Viewing angles, IPS glow levels, backlight range and other general characteristics remain very similar to before. They've thankfully stuck with a flicker free backlight as well which is always good news, even if they don't promote this as a feature. The response times are slightly better on the new screen, but the lag is more of a problem and so for fast or competitive gaming, the U2715H has the edge. To be honest, there's not a massive amount to separate these two screens. The U2715H will likely go end of life soon and so the U2717D is a decent and solid replacement at least. There's no real reason you'd want to upgrade from a U2715H to a U2717D but if you're looking to buy a new screen you can be safe in the knowledge that the U2717D is a solid all-round performer like its predecessor. A very good 27" IPS model for a range of uses and another great screen from Dell.

  • +1

I've got a couple of the dell U2713H monitors which I'm really happy with, how do these compare?

    • +4

U2713H is a wide gamut monitor, great for serious photographers, and more expensive than U2715H or U2717D, which are normal gamut monitors.

      • We have a few Dell U27xx series. Frankly, the old U2711 beats the U2713H in terms of gamut and inputs.

  • Man I was looking at getting this just 2 weeks ago but it already sold out so I got a Korean monitor instead, hope the one i get isn't faulty or else I'm going to pretty pissed.

    • +1

… else I'm going to pretty pissed.

      Then what?

      • Hope for a refund.

        • At least hope is risk-free.

  • Awesome monitor.. can't belive I have been using non-ultrasharp dell for so long. The difference is massive… There is no going back!! If you don't have one, get it! You won't regret it.

I hope they'll bring back the UP2716D model back instock for the wide-gamut. Bought Spyder 5 Pro from last deal so I'm ready for it!

    • +1

I don't think UP2716D is compatible with Spyder. You need a Xrite i1 Display Pro to program its internal LUT.

      • OH no devastating! I hope you're kidding.. I was reading that Spyder can correct all monitors / tv…

        • Yes you can use spyder to do software calibration. But u2713h and up2716d have user programmable LUT which only supports certain X-rite products.

        • The spyder will set an icc profile that windows will use, the x rite will modify the inbuilt LUT in the monitor that is normally considered superior.

  • +1

Actually $499 was the lowest ever seen: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/252259
    Just a few days ago…

    • These are new..

    • saw it with 'as new' so didn't think it was a new one

      • +1

Picked up two from this deal. They are definitely new. Shame about the reduced warranty though.

    • +1

1 year warranty vs 3 year though.

      • -1

Why are you willing to pay $161 so you feel better if something that almost certainly won't happen (the monitor is defective) happens?

When ACL is going to cover 3 years on a $500 monitor anyhow.

        Crazy.

  • +2

How does Acer XB280HK or Samsung U28E850R compare to Dell U2715H? The backlight bleed on my U2715H from previous deal is unbearable (at 25 brightness, I can even read book under blank/black screensaver.) I am thinking to purchase another monitor.

    • Damn that Samsung has me tempted…

Actually, that Acer has me even more so due to G-Sync. Have a AMD card in my 'work' PC, but a 970 in my LAN PC. And I could claim it on tax.. Damn it, I dunno what to do.

    • -1

Samsung's TN panel sounds a No for me.

  • I'm torn between two of these or a LG 34UC88 for $1300.
EDIT: I think i'll suck it up and go with the ultrawide, there's no blb on the 2016 panels and the curve is too tempting

  • This is good for playing Overwatch

  • Side question, who's easier to deal with for warranty for a monitor:
PCCG, mwave, scorptec, cpl, computer alliance?

    • +1

Scorptec or PCCG have my vote. CPL - no. Have not used the other two.

      • Thanks

        • +1

I go with PCCG or PLE.

    • +1

Massive issues with Scorptec - took a HDD in, and still haven't got it back, and it has been MONTHS. For a HDD. Which is a straight replacement. Utter garbage.

They used to be good, but it's been a long time since that was the case.

  • Anyone know if the 25 inch version of this monitor has been on sale?

    • Up in the top comments from lj87

  • Beautiful monitor at a great price.

Would buy if i didn't buy the Dell U3415W 34" curved ultra-wide last year.

    • How do u find it? Any blb?

      • +2

        No backlight bleed at all.

Unless i look at a totally black screen, with the room lights turned off.

Then i can see some at the top and bottom, but that's like the extreme case.

        • -1

          No backlight bleed at all.
          :
Then i can see some at the top and bottom, but that's like the extreme case.

          You're contradicting yourself.

The issue with this monitor is not back light bleeding but IPS Glow. Latter is a characteristic of this panel type. There are techniques to minimise it but Dell didn't implement them.

In daylight or under light, IPS Glow is less noticeable. If you're willing to live with this one issue, then the rest of monitor is freaking amazing - only beaten by my coworker's 5K iMac. I love it.

(The unfortunate thing about 5K iMac is that its logical resolution is 1/4 of physical resolution, so no net increase in real-estate, ie. 2560x1440.. Fonts and vector graphics, though, are rendered at physical resolution, so their quality does noticeably improve.)

  • -2

    Is this 4k?

    • No, 1440p

    • no. this is QHD not UHD/4K

      • -3

was hoping to future proof for the coming xbox scorpio/ps4 neo

    • +2

I don't understand the obsession with 4K. You need an extremely powerful CPU and GPU to be able to get even 30 fps in an A list game. And most of your images downloaded from the internet (like wallpapers) will look incredible tiny and pathetic on a 4K display. I would recommend getting nothing higher than a UWQHD display now (2560 x 1440), and waiting at least 3 years till OLED 4k monitors are available along with GPUs capable of outputting 60 fps at 4K.

      • +4

The biggest thing is though (from what I've read) is the ability to still play games at 1080P as it scales perfectly from 4K. So you get the benefits of a much higher resolution for normal desktop programs, to then still playing at 1080P games until you're able to upgrade over the years for a 4K playable GPU.

Playing at 2560x1440 means you need a powerful enough GPU right now, and playing games not at its native resolution isn't going to look good. I never thought I'd be tempted by a 4K monitor, but due to work I'm finding I need a monitor that displays a higher resolution, but also doesn't mean I need to spend such a massive amount on a GPU to play games.

        • +1

This. And the text is much sharper on a 4k 27" screen.

      • The 1080 can do 60fps in pretty much everything at 4K. Before that I would agree with you, but things are starting to change.

  • +1

Anyone primarily using this for a gaming monitor? Would like to hear any feedback positive or otherwise.

  • There are quite a few ppl on whirlpool reporting backlight bleeding on the Futu stock A02 from March-April 2016. https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2320473&…

Anyone else experienced this? I'm pretty keen to buy but seems like the Futu warranty isn't directly through Dell for replacement?

Edit: Picked up the last 1 on ebay so I guess it's sold out again until more stock becomes available.

I am worried about the backlight bleeding though, anyone have any problems from the first batch of ultrasharps that were sold on futu?

  • +1

Bought it during the last sale, backlight bleeding is pretty bad. Some folks on wp had the same issue. Not sure if I have to return to them or Dell. Sent a query about a week ago and didn't hear anything from Futu, I guess I will have to return the item

  • +1

I bought the Dell U2414H from Futu Online 15 days ago and they reckon they might send it out sometime next week. Check that actually have the stock on hand first.

    • Futu was really good with my U2715H on the first sale - I bought it at about 3pm on Wednesday arvo, and it arrived here in Brisbane at 10am on Friday morning. Perfect.

I haven't really noticed any backlight bleeding issues on mine, but I don't often have it with a very dark screen. With the dark grey on ACDSee Pro 9, it is fine.

  • My monitor from the recent Futu batch has really bad backlight bleeding issue. Side by side with my old Dell 2405, the difference is huge. I've reached out to the seller, so still awaiting their response.

    • Damn…that sucks looks like a batch problem. How are futu to deal with? Sounds like it has affected many people who have bought from them.

    • Any update on how Futu have dealt with this issue?

  • four have just appeared on the factory outlet: http://www1.ap.dell.com/content/topics/segtopic.aspx/product… @ $499

    • Gone now but is As New still second hand? 1yr warranty isn't as good either

  • It sold out AGAIN! Very tempting to try the monitor again.
