Optus Huawei E5573 Pocket Wi-Fi Modem $24.50 @ Coles (22nd-28th June)

250

So big thanks to Jase1 for posting the Coles catalogues for next week. What caught my eye and wasn't in the title was that the Optus Huawei e5573 is on sale for $24.50.

For all that missed out on the $14.55 Big W Optus Huawei e5573 deal this could be a good alternative.

  • Optus E5573 is 4G Band 1, Band 3, Band 7, Band 28, and Band 40. It is also 3G 850/900/2100mhz. This is basically perfect for Telstra/Optus.
  • Includes 4GB of data/14 days
  • Reported previously as not network locked.
  • Try price-matching at Officeworks for an additional 5% off.

Cheers to awoff1 and Darkochan for edits.

  • Is there a way to unlock it for free?

Any chance please of adding Wi-Fi Modem to the title? I was expecting a phone.

    • Done, apologies.

      • Thank you.

  • Thanks.
Is this one of the best 4g wi fi modem?

    • +1

      I don't have one so I can't comment.

It's very compatible with our Australian LTE frequencies.

I have heard reports of ~ 4hrs battery life.

      • Thank you. I never had one.But I will try this.

      • +1

Speaking of frequencies, despite the Optus website saying otherwise, it actually has 3G 850MHz.

        • Cheers mate, lemme update it.

    • I don't know if it's one of the best but i've been using it for a month or more and find it works great. It worked straight from the box with a telstra sim, with Vodafone I had to change the APN within the software accessible at 192.168.8.1

A bargain at $24.50 and does 850 3G as well. Optus doesn't need to advertise that, though I recall it's indicated on the box.

      Added and probably.

  • will wait for clearer pic up and try price match with officeworks on wed

  • Good gadget.. Got one and bring to Japan with a prepaid data sim and really helpful for maps n looking for places to eat.
It is unlock and 4g n light n compact.

  • Dammit I JUST bought the Optus e5251 for $10.

Is it worth it to return it and get this instead?

    • i got the slim usb version which came with 2GB data as well for $5.

      • I think it's box / sign in store said it came with 3gb, but yeah. Was tossing up between that one and the one I bought.

    • The one you bought only goes up to 3G, while the one posted is 4G.

      • Yeah I saw, was just wondering if it was worth it to return it and get the one posted. I mean more data and 4G for $14.5 more.

      • More data would be beter than 4G if that's what ur looking for. End of the day not like need faster transfer rate to stream on this. Just surfing the web etc. 3g is quick enough.

  • What size SIM does this take?

    • Full size

  • 4 hrs is pretty badddd isnt it, battery life i mean

    • I got the Vodofone one and it can last as long as 8 hours. Just that you have to charge it very long time.

      • Not as many bands on Vodafone one though so also thinking of getting this one

      • The Vodafone one R216 I guess you're alluding to which is quite different apart from being sourced from Huawei. The Voda model has three indicators on the case and the wifi can be switched off if you want to run the data through an external router via a USB cable ie TP Link/Dovado/Netgear etc. The Optus has many more frequencies on LTE 4G but only the SSID broadcast on the WIFI can be switched off.

  • Might be obvious but can someone confirm it works while being charged?

  • Does it come with a charger plug and cable?

    • +1

Only with a very short USB cable. No plug.

    Success :)

Only 3 months left til my included sim expires.
