  • I bought a couple of the power points off eBay for $15 each, so not a bad price. The power point is water resistant, not waterproof as some sell it as. You would die if you stuck it in water

Personally, for any electrical fittings etc, I would spend the extra money and buy more expensive fittings such as clipsal rather than SPM.

I love a bargain, so it has my +Vote.

And these are IP54 & AS/NZS 3112 compliant, so it's deemed safe & fine for use.

However… You have a valid point. I think another valid piece of advice is: These must be fitted by a licensed electrician, if you wish to comply with very serious Australian laws. So when you factor-in those costs, this discount becomes less exciting.

Find a good sparky, and ask what they use & charge for supply-and-fit.

        • I'd love to hear from the donut who negs facts… But that's what coward negs are for.

      • Many of the cheaper brand power outlets in my parents house put in by electricians have failed. on the other hand only one clipsal switch from the original build has failed and that is at least 2-3 times as old. I'm now an electrician and wouldn't touch the deta or SPM etc. Bought a deta switch to cannibalize the wall plate for a project and the switch mech was broken out of the packet.

Do you really need to point that out? I can't see even the most stupid Australians installing this in a water tank or swimming pool. Unless of course you're talking from experience?

  • Which stores sell the SPM for $10.08? All stores I've checked are selling for $16.80. Btw I've used SPM throughout my house for my renovation. The quality is excellent and it looks much nicer than the DETA products from bunnings.

Once added to your cart, under promotions 40% is taken off so price is $10.08

      • Showing as $16.80 at Nerang after adding to cart.

        • Have a look at the total at the bottom. On mine it showed as $16.80, and calculated the subtotal based on that, then took away the extra 40% as 'Promotions' down the bottom, before the 'Order Total'.

In store it still scans at full price (at least in the few stores I checked around Brisbane) but as pointed out this has the discount added at checkout online.

  • SPM ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚, lucky if those switch mechs last 12 months before they fall apart, buy clipsal, looks better and way more reliable

    • Clipsal is generally fairly good, there are other good brands too.

  • I had 2 of these break under not so extreme conditions. Spend a little more get something reputable.
