Twin Pack of Thule 591 Roof Rack Bike Carriers $268.50 with Free Postage @ Micks Garage

120

Twin pack of Thule 591 Bike Carriers for almost the price some places are charging for one. They also have a great deal on single 591's but to qualify for the free shipping to Australia you need to spend more $$ or pay $30 postage. If you have a couple of Carbon frame bikes that you carry around and dont want to place clamps on the carbon top tube of the bike (like me) then these are great carriers to fit onto your roof rack.

Good price, but if you had a carbon bike wouldn't you be better off with the Thule 594XT Side arm, as it doesn't touch the frame at all? It's hard to find a good price on those :-(

Yep 594 just attaches to the wheel/tyre. I already have a 591 and the arm attaches to the downtube but doesnt take the bike's weight, it just stops it falling from side to side. I was looking for a second 591 to carry a second bike when I saw this deal. The bike's weight is being held by it sitting on its own tyres. I agree the 594 would be safer with the frame but I am OK with the 591 and it is cheaper, a risk/return thing. Loads of my mates all have 591's they seem to be the weapon of choice for MAMILS moving their carbon bikes around, just remember you have a bike on top before entering the garage/carport!!

        before entering the garage/carport

My nightmare. Pro tip: when loading the bikes up, move a cardboard box, BBQ or other large object into the middle of the garage entry. That way you'll have to get out to move it, and will remember to remove the bikes too.

        • At my LBS a couple of weeks back th owner invited me to his storeroom to show me the 2 bikes in there waiting for insurance claims that had both been on the roof when driven into the garage, both frames write-offs (both Cannondale Evo Hi Mods too so pretty expensive).

I take the garage remote off my sunvisor and put it in the glovebox when my bike is on the roof. That way I cant go through my normal routine of driving into the garage, if I try I cant open the garage door, have to remember where I put the remote and normally at that point I remember why the remote is in the glove box!

        Doh!

  • I wouldn't recommend buying anything from these a$$h0les! They're based in Ireland & couldn't give a rats if they send you the wrong parts, they wouldn't refund me about $100 and were so rude & condescending

  • Order cancelled due to some shipping size limitation.
