Antonio, let's know about the result, mate. Ta

App doesnt see a corrupted drive that GetDataBack does see.

        Would not recommend.

          Ta. Appreciate it, mate.

  • iCare Data Recovery Pro worked for me, whereas EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard didn't even recognise the 'corrupted' drive (that I suspect was stuffed by Win10's auto-update & reboot process).
Still haven't reformatted the drive so I'll get this software and see how it goes with the drive.
Impacted drive was a Seagate but a WD drive also connected to the PC is just fine.. so I'll never wander away from WD drives ever again.
Edit: Nope, this one also doesn't recognise the corrupted drive to try to recover files from.

Maybe my grandfather has a use for it

    • typical throw away comment. theres a lot of pc, desktops and servers running these operating systems both publicly and privately. some reasons. if it aint broke why fix/replace it. plus if it still does the job why spend money unnecessarily replacing it.

just because you cant use the free software on offer you choose to ridicule those still using old operating system.

      nice going.

      • "if it aint broke why fix/replace it"

Because the first three are no longer supported by Microsoft and present a massive security risk for yourself and potentially anyone who is sharing a network with you?

Saying something is old is simply that, saying its old. Why u so offended

        R u really old lol

        • It's one thing to say operating system is old but its another stating only really old people use anything but the latest OS.

          I'm with mcp2kpro.

Just because one still uses Windows 2000, XP, Server 2003, Vista, Server 2008, 7, 8 they are automatically grandparents old? I can walk to any primary school in australia and i can bet you they still use any if not all of these OS. Those primary school kids must be so old that they are already grandparents old going by your logic or lack thereof.

Many companies still use these operating systems as well because another reason is its because they have in house program that just dont work in the latest OS.

TL;DR Just because you still use anything other than the latest OS does not make you realy old. It just means someone is dumb for suggesting that only really old people use old OS.

    • That's just dumb. Just because you're the first one who jumped ship to windows 10, doesn't mean no one uses windows 7&8 anymore. Your grandfather probably don't even know how to use a PC, let along any windows version.

      • Nope. He runs XP. If u dont know my grandpa, u shouldn't comment.

        • -1

Oh the hypocrisy of this comment. You don't want people to comment on your grandpa because they don't know anything about him. But you seem to know the user base of Windows 2000, XP, Server 2003, Vista, Server 2008, 7, 8 are only really old people. Well you could be basing that on the one person you know still using OS other than windows 10. Which clearly is not true.

        • Why not? You seem to know every other grandpa who use windows Vista, 7,8

        • @mcp2kpro:

Read my comment again. I said my grandpa. Not yours. Not anyone elses.

        • @xoom:

Wheres the hypocrisy? I said let me grandpa use it. When did I say anything about the base users?

        • @seijai:

          Wheres the hypocrisy?

Saying something is old is simply that, saying its old. Why u so offended

          R u really old lol"

You can comment that i am really old when you dont know me either but someone comments about your grandpa and the gloves are off?

          "seijai on 30/06/2016 - 22:00
Nope. He runs XP. If u dont know my grandpa, u shouldn't comment."

        • @xoom:

R u really old is a question. Not a statement

        • @seijai:

So you think you have the right to question why i am so offended. Going on to suggest maybe its to do with my age by questioning it. So its clear you dont know me. Lets get that out of the way.

Then the moment someone does the very same about your grandpa. All bets are off.

Hope you can see how your comment(s) can be seen as trolling at the least and downright disrespectful at the worst.

Perhaps it could have been better worded if you really meant no ill intent but hope you can see how its coming across to other people.

Just registered. Noticed you need to install and activate during the promo period. I was hoping to park in my arsenal for later on/just in case.

  • testdisk and photorec are good free recovery programs
