Sony HTDDWG700 800W Home Theatre - $323.40 @ Videopro.com.au

1000

Cheap home theatre system. Retails elsewhere for between $649 - $699

Absolute bargain price, as JB hifi has it for $487, and The Good Guys has it for $689. I tried to get JB to price match, doubted they would, and he said that the $323.40 price was over $100 less than their cost.

Also includes free shipping til 31st May

Got mine today. Plenty loud enough. It has 2 HDMI ins and 1 HDMI out. I havent tried them though. I use the optical cable from the TV to the receiver…. Have PS3, 360, DVD recorder and Austar all into the TV, so all the sound now comes out home theatre. The sound on modern warfare 2 is pretty sweet

    • Is this the ideal way to connect your inputs? Or should you connect them directly to the HT box?

    • -is jealous-

    • hey, this is real good news for me. I've a Sony Full HD LCD TV (KDL40W5500) and PS3 (connected to TV via HDMI) …. so I can leave the PS3 plugged into the TV …. and connect the optical cable from the TV to the receiver and get the 5.1 surround sound both of them (i.e. from day to day TV watching the digital channels + playing blue-ray & DVD's on PS3)? Is this understanding correct?

      • Works for me. Also have laptop hooked up via music port.

        • Do you get full 5.1 that way?

          • @theguyrules: i'd also like to know. I just received this unit today and put a hdmi from the tv to the receiver and the xbox to the receiver via hdmi. i get picture, but no sound. Ive ordered an optical cable and hope that solves the problem

            • @ironworthy: HDMI is only for video, you will need the optical cable for sound.

  • The subwoofer is feeling rather light. You paid for what you get.

    • Its the same on all these packages. It is really a plain woofer, not a sub-.
It allows the 5 main speakers to be small. Turn off the woofer and see how 'tinny' they sound.
In the olde days you had two woofers - one in each speaker.

  • Ended up getting this deal, thx for the heads up johnno1987.
Just hoping a component to hdmi converter is going to work between FoxtelIQ and this.

Don't want to rain on your parade, but just so you guys all know this model is on sale at Harvey Norman for $299. Of course, if you live out in the middle of nowhere and can't pick it up, then this is a good deal.

Might want to post up a link or some other proof as the few times i have seen people state that HN has it cheaper on deals like this, the HN model is usually different and not as good.

Not having a go at you, just need some more information first.

Not sure if nationwide, but walk into HN Garden City in Brisbane. They have 3 boxes on display, further 5 out the back.

        • Can someone confirm the model numbers? If it's the same, my parade would have been rained on.

@eug: sheesh, its a diff of 24 bux posted direct to your door. get over it.

            • @ironworthy: yes, but i could have picked it up myself last week. It's all about instant gratification nowadays!

              • @eug: I'll confirm that HN City West in Perth didn't have any in stock and they weren't on sale. Listed as $549. Could anyone else find a different HN that had it?

  • so, guys, we could connect everything to TV first, and then link tv back to the receiver, is that correct??

  • HN at Garden City indeed have it for $299. Other HN like Indroopilly best they can do is $400 but would not price match at $299 because it under cost.
