      Please elaborate on the free part.

      • I am also curious how you got this - I managed to score 2 free months after my 3 month trial expired but on fewer channels!

        • how do you score the extra 2 months?

        • +2

          @fm:

          When you go to cancel, they'll offer you 2 more months of Base Package, plus either Movies or Sports or Drama (free)

          @Spackbace: awesome, i plan to cancel anyway… I hope it works rolling…. lol free for life!

        • @Spackbace:

          Cancel by phone or online?

        • +1

          @abc:

          Phone

          While I was there, they also knocked off $10/month off my phone bill (with about 3 months left of contract), so was a good call lol

        • @Spackbace:

          How long before the initial 3 month term was up did you call?

          What are you going to do in 2 months lol?

          @abc:

          2 days

          Got a month left, cancelling :)

        • +1

          Yep, I can confirm an additional 2 months free after you go cancel the 3 free months promo.

          They dont give you the whole platinum pack, but give you basic plus 2 extras. I picked Entertainment and Movies.
          Free for 2 months.

          Just ring up asking to cancel. When they ask why, just say the 3 promo is finished and its too expensive to continue.
          They'll ask what channels you like to watch the most, and just say Nick Jnr for the kids and the occasional movie.
          Bamm…. 2 free packs on top of Basic.

        • @Spackbace: Just checking was it 3 months after the install date or sign up date?

          Mine is coming up in the next few weeks and don't want to get stung.
          cheers

  • So you pay $0 per month for Foxtel?

  • +2

    More crappy movie chnanels. The only ones worth having are Box Office, which is pay per view ON TOP OF the already exorbitant subscription fees. No thanks.

  • my 3 months free foxtel from Telstra expiring 22nd July. now I will cancel on 15th july

    • They will offer you another 2 months free anyways.

      • +2

        what?

        • +1

          True. I cancelled a week back when my 3 months free was coming to an end and they offers two more months free on basic + one extra package.

        • @andyman1908: Oh thanks man!

        • @andyman1908:

          They offered me basic + movies or basic + sport for an additional 2 months.

          I guess they are trying to reduce the large cancellation numbers due to the deal. It would sure look bad. Especially with the rumours circulating an imminent sale of FOXTEL.

    Can confirm its also available from just Foxtel, just got this deal emailed to me

    • Cheers, link changed :)

  • Yep I can confirm after chatting to the Telstra Team about cancelling my 3 free months of foxtel I also got offered 2 months free with fewer channels. I decided to bin foxtel a day after GoT finished :)

    Foxtel isn't a bargain.
    A deal only for people already subscribed is a targeted offer.

    Beat me to it! :P

    • +1

      Neg voters if you looked up my history you'd see what I was referring to.

  • So nothing for people that already have the movies pack.

    • call up and change packs?

  • +1

    now if only my IQ3 box actually recorded stuff

  • I just checked and we have movies for free also. But all the movie channels are greyed out so if i didnt read this i wouldnt know we could watch them. Is anyone elses like this? They are greyed out along with all the other channels we dont have but we are able to click on and watch movies. I thought they would no longer be greyed out in a free promotion period?

  • Telstra and Foxtel are some of the most despicable companies operating in Australia. They are the prime reason why internet access in Australia is so lousy and expensive, and why Netflix can offer Australian so little content compared to their now impossible to access US content. Both companies deserve to be socialized and their management sent to Gulags for 5 years.

    Unfortunately, I cannot neg for this reason.

    • I only have it as my internet is pathetic. Youtube doesn't stream properly.

      The FTTH NBN was shot down by Uncle Rupert to protect his declining businesses. Now either you will wait a long time for decent internet speeds or connect to FTTN (MTSB*) NBN when it's never available (probably in my case as country areas are ignored despite paying the same rates of tax).

  • anyone still got access to the free movies?
