404 error and full price for me.

50bux is about right for the specs. not really a bargain. RRP $250 is a joke lol

    • +3

But it's running cutting edge Android 4.0.3!!!

      • That's right. It's cutting edge on the unusable end.

  • Android 4.0.3…

  • Android 4.0.3 and a dual core SoC from 2013 is pretty bad. I could get an Android 4.4 quad core cheaper than this.

    • Please suggest, i was just about to put trigger to buy for my son who would play basic games and watch videos on

      • +8

he would hate you if u bought it for him.

        • Yep. It'd be coming from China and not even worth $10.

      • google has moved on to bigger file size, android 4.0 would be a stopper

AMLogic MX only slightly better than tegra 2….. better avoid

if it's 30 include shipping, might be good deal

        • Thanks guys. Any suggestions? 10inch, andriod, decent spec under $100

          @andyman1908:

a 10 inch tab for under $100 is going to be crap. You wouldn't want to buy a tablet so low end because it'll just end up in the drawer unused.

the lowest end tab I'd consider is a Lenovo Tab 3 (7 inch) This retails for $97 AUD — check JB hifi or officeworks

        • @andyman1908: The Lenovo Tab 3 A10 is $76 at Harvey Norman. It however is only 7" and does not permit multiple users which may not be ideal for younger children.

        • @andyman1908:

          http://www.harveynorman.com.au/computers-tablets/ipads-surfa…
          78 dollars

this will be usable but horror screen (non IPS)
but should be good for kids to throw around……. walk in for a test run?

i got this for my mum, she likes it, battery life is very good
          http://www.harveynorman.com.au/computers-tablets/ipads-surfa…

only drawback is EMMC is not the fastest, and CPU is ok-ish/ quite capable (good for most game)

        • @242gtr:
that Lenovo was 76 dollars just the other day; worthwhile. I see it's gone up back to normal.

        • Ended up with an Ipad mini Gen 1 64gb for $100 second hand. I heard plenty of complaints about it being slow but seems fine at this stage (obviously just factory reset and not much on storage as yet).

        • @andyman1908:

The risk is many new app can't use on ipad 1 (stuck with ios7 ? — i am not a fan of apple, so I do not know)

        please spare your poor son

id argue the target tablets are probably better at this day and age, this is museum material in tablet world

    • I'm struggling to find a 10" Android tablet for the wife as well. Wouldn't mind paying a bit more for something better, but it seems hard to find something with recent Android and enough power to not be annoying (preferably not Intel) for under AU$150.

      • if you are willing to venture into the world of China tabs there are some choices, but have to tread very carefully and still bit of gamble.

        • All I can find locally are Pendo / Neos / Polaroid / Precision, which all look like cheap Chinese crap.

        • @OZB Al:

There is a 10" Lenovo Tab 2 A10-30 sold locally as well. Goes for $219. http://www.staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=Lenovo+Tab+…

From what I've read it is not a bad tablet and the resolution is also 1280x800 IPS. Not as good as 1080p but the text is still crisp enough.

        • @scrimshaw:

yes, battery life is superb. screen is good.

processor better than my old Acer A3 MTK , but not a ferrari

the biggest thing i don't like is the storage eMMC, why they choose the lowest speed……. worse than my old motorola xoom

      • Should look into xiaomi tablets. They are good quality and price is reasonable.

  • Postage & Handling to Vic is $12 for EACH unit. Pickup (only available in Melbourne)is free.

Great deal, combine with one of them universal LCD drivers from eBay to get a tidy ten inch screen for your raspberry pi….at half the price of the adafruit ones

    • Tell me more, tell me more…

        Look up RTD2660 on eBay
For <$30 you can get one….

But buy your LCD panel first …

I've got an old 12" LCD from a photo frame I found in hard rubbish hooked to one, was the only LCD I could find that fitted perfectly in my project …the board gives the LCD HDMI, VGA and composite inputs!

LCD's are fairly easy to drive and believe it or not, fairly standard, there's a few types of connectors and backlights though so you really need to buy the LCD first, then tell the seller of the driver board so they can provide the right cables and firmware in the driver…

        Good luck

  • Cool, might buy me one and put a pic of a drink coaster on the screen and use it as … ummm …a drink coaster

    • Better: Put > THIS PIC < on the screen, and use it for a something it's FAR more suited to.

  • $5 off for subscribing to their newsletter too - making it $56 delivered. I'm not expecting brilliant quality but I'm sure it'll be good enough for my 5 year old to play basic games and watch netflix cartoons.

  • Does it have micro sd card slot to extend memory?
Thinking of buying one for mum to use for general surfing, online dictionary/translation, play back movies and for dad to play basic games.

    • yes, 32GB max

  • Bought one, least price I have seen so far for any 10 inch Tablet. Don't mind buying one, even if I use it only for watching movies while travelling :)

Subscribed for mailing list and got 5 dollars coupon. Ended up paying only AUD 44 for pick up from Melbourne :)

  • Bought one on recommendation from anu. Not happy. Tablet arrived with a small area of screen with a yellow tinge. Embedded videos are not playing properly in Facebook. YouTube works, but update (red triangle icon) doesn't work at all. Screen is quite good compared to other cheap. However, not worth getting old technology if it stops working. Like my $3K, five year olds Sony TV that can't receive channel 90 or 76 etc. Or my Vista computer which I am having more and more trouble with.
