As someone who has used Elephone devices in the past, I find it hard to recommend them. Never before have I come across a device that had some many awful bugs in the stock ROM that never got fixed. Just a really unfriendly device. Build quality seemed to be OK, but the software was a mess. I'd spend a little more and go for the Redmi 3 Note Pro, or save a few bucks and get the Lenovo K3 Note and flash CM12.1.

    • That's the case with a lot of minor brands

      Make phone with crappy software
      Users complain
Complaints get ignored because they're already too busy developing the next new device
Make another new phone with crappy software
      Users complain

      rinse and repeat

The only way you can get a somewhat bug-free experience is to either rely on XDA community to patch things and release a cooked ROM, or to become a developer yourself.

    • Yep same here. Bought a P7000 it just died one day. Couldn't return it as all my accounts were active and I wasn't game to send back to China, Bought P8000 battery bulged, sent that one back after returning to stock. It was fixed so can't complain too much. P7000 os had ads in it one stage FFS.

By contrast and have an Oppo R7 for not more $300 vs $220 and it's been perfect.

      • there is no money is supporting models that are superseded or sales are down as its not the newest model. still wIting for offical android 6 for redmi note 2 ….. probably will never come. at least the old Samsung s5 has official android 6. Chinese devices seem to go end of support vey quickly.
nexus and apple seem to be best for supporting devices for longest.

        • I believe MIUI8 is 6.0 based: http://en.miui.com/thread-301820-1-1.html

Starting from July 11th, 2016, we will progressively release MIUI 8 Global Beta ROM for public.
Starting from August 16th, 2016, we will progressively release MIUI 8 Global Stable ROM for public.

The following devices will get MIUI 8 Global Beta ROM:
Mi 2/2S, Mi 3, Mi 4, Mi 4i, Mi 5, Mi Note, Mi Max 32GB, Redmi 1S, Redmi 2, Redmi 2 Prime, Redmi Note 3G, Redmi Note 4G, Redmi Note Prime, Redmi Note 2, Redmi Note 3 Qualcomm

Although apparently there's some debate on whether it's 6 based or not.

Been using a P6000 Pro for 8 months, and it hasn't missed a beat.
