    Oooooooooookay…..

    • -1

      VPN blocked??

  • hmm pros with higher capacity but less recharge cycles or vanillas with lower capacity but more recharge cycles?

    • +2

Pros. You're unlikely to use up all of your recharge cycles. That is 2100 times per battery.

Suppose you charge those batteries every day, that is 5.7 years to kill them. I'm not sure what kind of usage would require daily charging. If you're recharging them once per week that would be over 40 years of usage. Twice a week? 20 years.

Realistically, do you think you'll use up all of your charges?

It's no big deal that you have fewer charge cycles. But every charge is getting you a benefit over the standard batteries in battery life.

      Get the Pros.

      EDIT: I might be wrong.

      The description says

      Recharge up to 2,100 times

Your initial investment is quickly recovered

However, the image on the box says 500 times, which is still a lot. Looks like Bing Lee stuffed up.

I still recommend the pros over the standard. You'll naturally replace these eventually anyway.

      • I only buy the pros nowadays

      • +2

I have the Eneloop XX, they are the older version of Panasonic Pros, I also have the regular eneloops (chocolate)
I'm a wedding photographer and can say there isn't much difference between them when I use them in my flash, however after 2.5 years the Pros have lost 1/4th of their capacity even though I haven't used them too much, under 50-60 charges. It is also very important to have a good charger, cheap eBay express chargers will stuff them up much sooner than the overnight chargers. I would recommend you buy a good battery charger which will cost you ~$80

    • +8

well those were clearance items if you were lucky enough to find stock.

and looks like you were quite the lucky broden :)

    • +6

      You got Lucky mate

Only a few masters had actual stock

I managed to get 10 X 8 pack chocolates from cotd for free last year with a $10 off code = 8 orders

Doesn't change the fact that this is the cheapest deal at time of posting for eneloops

    • +1

      Are you trying to boast?

  • Cheaper than the Groupon deal posted earlier

    8 eneloops for $25 ( 2 x 4 packs)

The smart battery charger with 4 eneloops is a bargain for $30

Family pack is a decent price but still comes with a dumb charger

    • how do you the smart charger comes with 4 eneloops?

      • +1

        It's on the packaging

However not sure how smart it is . It might be a smart dumb charger when comparing it to the la crosse bc700

        • hope it is smarter or as smart as ikea's charger.

  • +4

I like to imagine that if OzB ever started a secret fight club, flashing a tattoo of an eneloop on the inside of your wrist would gain you entry. I'd better stop taking about it…

    • +4

you dont about the eneloop club. thats the first rule.

      • damint TBH, now we have to move the tattoos

  • +2

Aldi rechargeable batteries are better value

    • +17

Careful mate, that kind of talk could get you an OzB ban!

    • Does aldi do a smart/fast charger as well and is it compatible with eneloops? If so do you know how much it costs? Thanks

      • +1

I got the Aldi multi charger for about $15 a year ago.
Brilliant unit with LCD readout of current charge

        • Thanks man, can it work with Eneloops and is it a fast charger?

        • +1

@brake: Yes it regularly charges AA & AAA eneloops from flat in about one hour. Is that considered a fast charger?
          EDIT: I found the deal
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/194234
DOUBLE EDIT: Looks like it went up in price :(
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/247489

        • @yoyomablue:

Yep that is fast! My eneloop charger takes all day, I'd say 8-10 hours easily

I'll definitely be grabbing one the next time they are available at Aldi (I assume they aren't always available?)

          Thanks!

  • Are Eneloop Pro, China or Japan?

    • Some are China and some Japan

I know for a fact that the ones from Amazon are from Japan

      • Might go in store and check it out then. Thanks.

        • Buy online then pickup In store . You can always refund on the spot

          These might sell out quickly

    • If I recall correctly, Panasonic Eneloops are China, and Sanyo Eneloops (rare now) are from Japan.

      • Japanese eneloops are not rare . Plenty on Amazon

      • +2

Was in Japan 1 month ago, and all the Panasonic Eneloops are made in Japan there. lol. Even the regular panasonic eneloops were made in Japan
I think its just the export ones which are now made in China.

    • Before Pro used to be Japan only.

    • All mine are Japan

  • +2

$9 delivery per pack to SA

    • Yeah I know. Ouch.

  • +2

$27 flat rate melbourne, thanks, but no thanks!

    • $26.06 for 1 CR2032 to Perth

  • Still got lots of eneloops from dicky closure sales… in the packages untouched…

    • Interested in selling?

  • Are the Pro battery worth the investment?
Any feedback vs the Standard ones?

    • Buy some Panasonic shares, good investment :)

  • great find op

  • +2

Just FYI the overnight charger is crap. Get yourself a better charger and you'll be set :)

  • Just ordered 4 AAA pro and 4 AA pro , pick up at Bankstown

  • +7

    http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__77859__Turnigy_Re…

These are still better value, $2.55 each for AA and $1.04 (!!) for the AAA and as long as you get stock from the Australian warehouse the delivery cost is quite reasonable. I did a dummy order up ( to check postage costs) with 10 x AA and 10x AAA and it was only about $6 postage.
The delivery time can be a bit slow occasionally but the savings are worth it.

  • I have bought heaps of AA & AAA but only buy them when they are 8x for $15 including postage, Has been a while since they have had that deal on here but it will happen again

  • +1

When an ozbargainer goes into a sperm clinic to donate, the staff provide them with the equivalent of ozbargain porn - a brochure of eneloops on special.

  • I almost bought a couple of sets… but noticed the $45 shipping charge right before I clicked "place order".. Sneaky bastards.

  • +1

No stores in Melb, so $9 postage for me. Kind of kills the deal.

I still have too many packs unopened from years ago, so I don't need this.

  • Likewise noticed the excessive P&H in the checkout. $7 for 1x 4pk AA to South Australia, then doubles to $14 if I add a second pack - no thanks, will give this one a miss. Only seems worthwhile if you're in NSW and pickup from in the store.

  • +1

$36 to ship 4 packets . to melb = rip off

  • As someone who owns zero eneloops, is this a good deal to get a basic kit? After the end of Dick Smith, eneloop deals seem to have dried up.

  • Certainly cheap but there's a huge difference compared to Japanese Eneloops for holding charges

  • +1

My cart showed a discount of $27 after applying the code but shipping to Melb came up as $27… hahaha.

  • +1

Is the smart & quick charger worth getting or should I find a 3rd party smart charger elsewhere?

  • +1

$36 to ship 4 packets to Brisbane = Good Bye Bing Lee

  • FYI - got onto Live Chat and they processed the sale with $9 postage to Melbourne

    total for 2 x Eneloop AAA & 1 x Eneloop AA + postage $46.50 after coupon applied

  • +1

Postage is per pack on the web, however if you call them up via phone, you only pay $9 total shipping. They can also apply the 50% online discount.

  • Are these better than the ones at Costco?

  • +1

    Could i charge 2550mAh x 2 and 2100mAh x 2 together at one time?

  • Awww no stock in Belconnen for family pack. $9 shipping for ACT

  • +1

Thanks for the deal. I noted that the automated system charges per item ($9 per item) so I got onto live agent and I purchased 4 items with the shipping charge reduced from $36 to $10 delivered with tracking to Sydney CBD.

Hopefully this is some useful info for the community.

    Cheers

  • +1

Thanks, walked to my local and finally got a quick charger at a decent price. The system didn't scan at half price had to mention it but the staff knew about the deal.

  • A lot of places out of stock unless you willing to drive further.

IMO, Eneloop Pro is worth it as eBay costs more than these

  • This deal works out cheaper with a free charger and C/D adapters: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/255860

  • FYI the Eneloop pros here appears to be Japanese ones with searching the SKU.

If someone can verify SKU is reliable way to know if they are Japan made.

If Japan, definitely a good bargain

    • Are the Chinese made Eneloops still worth it?

Answered my own question with a google search: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?392229-Ja…

Interesting that in this guys test the China made eneloops start dropping off around the 300 charge cycle mark. Since I'd probably never get anywhere near close to that, I'm not too fussed where they are made.

      • Well after reading that thread, I think from now on I will only source Japanese made Eneloops I rather pay a bit more for Eneloop pros which are made in Japan rather than the regular Chinese ones. Sure they are cheaper but seriously not worth it. I'm fairly disappointed they moved production to China losing quality at it.

I've stopped buying Eneloops for a while after trying the DSE specials for 8xAAA chocolate ones, which performed very poorly. I highly recommend not to buy chinese Eneloops.

It's really just a name now with crap quality but high price tag.

Hobbyking turnigy is the go next when this Eneloop brand kills off all Japanese made cells.

    • +1

I can confirm that the AA pro and AAA pro are made in JAPAN.
(at least the ones I bought, I would doubt they would be different as likely from same patch)

      • As I thought cheapest on eBay is about $4 more each pack

  • I was tempted to get some, but I have so many standard non rechargeable batteries to use first, I'll wait for those stock levels to reduce before spending $50+ on rechargeable batteries.

  • +1

Just popped into Bing Lee Chatswood and there were 4 x AAA packs and 1 x AA pack left. They're ticketed at $25 each. When i enquired the staff had the nerve to tell me they're 2 for $50. Couldn't be bothered arguing so left. Horrible service.

  • I picked up my Eneloop pros today they are indeed Japan made also with manufacturing date 2015 Jun for those who still hesitating

  • How does the Panasonic smart & quick charger compare to the Ambient Temperation, Lacrosse ones?

  • Anyone know if this is the right battery for the Nintendo Wii Controller?

    Panasonic Eneloop AA 4x (2000mAh)(binglee.com.au) - $12.50

Also, can the old Sanyo Eneloop charger charge the above battery?
