Website is now back online

There was an issue in the checkout registration page, it is now been fixed. Thank you for reporting it to us.

Hi All,

This is a new site we have made (we are a small start-up business). We are now offering 15% off all Japan SIM cards (only a small amount of cards available). At the moment we will only use shipping with tracking number (AusPost Registered Mail) which is a bit expensive and might put some people off. However postage does not change no matter how many sim cards you buy. Paypal payments only.

Not sure if these are deals to some of you but here are the details, I will keep them breif:

7 Day 5GB 3G Card $30.56 after coupon

  • No daily limit
  • supports wifi hotspot
  • Once usage has reached 5GB and you won't be able to use it anymore
  • 3G Speed - A maximum theoretical download speed of 42Mbps.(Don't compare this to throttled "3G" speed from other cards, this is geniune 3G speed)

7 Day 3GB 4G Card $33.96 after coupon

  • No daily limit
  • Does not supports wifi hotspot
  • Once usage has reached 3GB and you won't be able to use it anymore
  • 4G Speed

15 Day 4G Card $39.06 after coupon
31 Day 4G Card $48.41 after coupon

Again, this is a new site if you experience any bugs please let us know.

Cheers

  • Seems to be the same Docomos that was on-sale earlier this year by Travel Sims Direct? At least this is honest:

Onces daily limit is reached, speed will be throttled to around 200kbps (this is not 3G speed, don't be fooled)

See this forum post on throttled 3G speed.

    • Yes. Looks similar, however i did not advertise it as unlimited 3G speed. It is unlimited 200kbps. And we are a new start up as stated, maybe our supplier also supplies them.

  • Right on time! im off to japan in october and i was looking for this. Cheers.

Same here, but I don't think this deal helps us. I think you're meant to activate the SIM by Aug.

Oh wait - the 7 day one can be activated by end of year but the 15 day one has to be activated by Aug. Why is that? OP, any way to have a longer activation date on the 15 day one?

    • 15/31 day ones must be activated by 13/20 AUG but 7 day ones have longer activation period (different supplier). We haven't decided if we should order more of the 15/31 day ones or only sell the 7 day ones. the 15/31 ones come usually come with 2-4 month validity.

It seems like japan is behind most other developed countries in some respects like mobile data and phone use by foreigners at a reasonable rate or prohibited from speaking on the phone.

I suppose you can use the free wifi that is around about to make voip calls on Skype etc with this card?

    • Not quite sure why they had that law in the first place, but luckily it was put in before mobile internet (2G or 3G) was invented. I guess now it's not really an issue anymore

I don't see your point about being "behind most other developed countries" when they have one of the fastest networks and a culture of mobile phone etiquette where other travellers aren't disturbed.

Can you talk about how these compare to the SIM cards you can get at the airport?
    Specifically:

    umobile

    7 Days 15 Days 30 Days
    $20AU $30AU $38AU
    200MB/day 200MB/day 200MB/day
Standard speed is up to 225Mbps download.
Speed drops to 200kbps after daily allowance

    bmobile

    14 Days
    $25AU
    1,000MB/ 3day
    Uncapped 3G speeds
    Speed restricted after allowance

I have used U-Mobile before, good reception, no drop out. 15 & 31 day cards have similar specs except we only do Nano sim with SIM tray provided if required. However our 7 day cards are different and have no daily limits. However, the exchange rate for AUD to JPY is not longer 1:100……..unfortunately it is only 1:76 now….. Prices would be approx $36.8 (15days), $46 (30days) excluding other exchange related fees and 8% sale tax - so we are currently priced very close to them with the coupon, if not cheaper. Except we do charge for postage and the sim card cover may not be as pretty. (we have no intention of jacking price up or down in near future unless AUD drops again, so our normal price would be more expensive than them I guess).

B-Mobile is good, I have also used them before, also has limit but it is calculated on 3-day basis. It also runs on Docomo network. Used to be only 3G speed, but it seems they have 4G now. Again, price is not $25, it would be around $34(incl tax) + other related fees.

I am sure that if you spend enough time to look for something you will always be able to find something cheaper. (I am also a fellow ozbargainer so I know:))

      • Thanks for the fast and honest reply!

You are correct, I was using the MacOSX finder currency conversion tool… Which was way off!
Keep up the good work :)

  • These things are 2300yen for 2gb 14days in Japan, buy them there or mail forward them from Amazon Japan ends up being over $10 cheaper.

Profiteering is fair game, but this is a big margin I don't see the 'bargain'.

  • Seems like way too many terms and conditions to bother like some have daily limites some don't, some work in WiFi Hotspots, some don't (How do you even restrict that??) And activation dates? Why? I'll just stick with GlobalAdvancedComm thanks, more expensive yes but it's unlimited and easy.

I think best option is b-mobile visitor sim.

14days unlimited data 2380yen (about $31 as recent currency exchange)
Free shipping to hotel or pick up at airport post office with some extra.

    http://www.bmobile.ne.jp/english/

    • They even re-deliver on weekends!

    • The bmobile isn't unlimited data. It is restricted to an average of 333MB per day, so that is only 4.6GB.

Equally etravelsim shouldn't be advertising 15/31 Day 4G Card as unlimited as they aren't. Clear breach of the Australian Consumer Law.

In both cases the amount of daily data will be enough for most users for maps, voice VoIP calls, hotel look ups and guide sites.

  • @OP:

can you do any deals on one for Europe I realise it's out of stock, need one in mid-August for Denmark, Sweden, Germany, The Netherlands and Austria.

    • We are trying to get some more of them but it will be at least another 2-3 weeks

      • No problemo, I'm in Europe from mid-August (16th+) we've got a month. I'll DM you my contact deets.

  • How do you know if your phone is compatible with the Japanese mobile networks, as they don't have GSM? Will any unlocked phone work, if it has 3G capability?

    • The 3G card is actually a roaming sim card which works slightly differently then the local cards and will work with most mobile phones.
Most new gen phones (post iphone 5 i would say) will support the 4G ones.

Send us a message of your phone model and which SIM card you are after we can confirm for you.

  • Only Japan? Any other that work in countries in Asia? Hk,China and Singapore and Thailand?

    • No plans for those at the moment. AUD is higher than before now so when we re-order we should be able to do sales. All depends on the exchange rate

  • Hi Rep, I'm interested in getting a Japan 7 day sim and a Thai 7 day sim.Can you do a deal for both as when I put them into my cart I ONLY get the discount using "japan15" for the Japanese sim…i.e. No discount for Thai ..Thanks

  • Hi OP
I am a bit confused about the activation days.
I plan to go to Yokohama with my partner at the end of Sept 2016 for 1 week, and then Tokyo for 1 more week. We will need a pair of sim cards with our iphone 5 so that we can talk to each other (not really care about calling back to Sydney).
Should I buy the SIM later because it is now too early to activate?
    What is the best option?
    Thanks.

    • Hi seniordoc.

Yes it is too early to order now unless you are after the 7 day 5GB no daily limit ones. (Expiry is in Dec)
