960

Full credit to theearth at buckscoop once again, 6pk for $3.49 is pretty good value for avos, similar to TA's 5 for $3.69 IGA deal a week ago.

Are they actually nice though? I've seen these multi packs at Aldi in the past, but some are so unripe and a few never ever ripened. I'd rather pay more and be able to actually use them….

these were pretty shitty. its avocado for sure, but its the arse end of the qulity scale.

      • Dont forget to mention the size of chicken egg, then you get the idea.

got ripped off at coles yesterday. $2.50 for 1.

    • Get out

You should have gone to woolies. It's 2 for $4 there

    • It appears that anything less than $3 these days you the quality is poor. I'm starting an avocado farm - in 10 years I'll be minted

      • You don't get any support from ozbargain with that venture, adverse then how you want, super vegan organic avocados, 2 for $10.

You'll go bust in no time

        • Are you suggesting people won't pay $5 for an Avocado? What about the great avocado famine of 2015? Supply vs Demand

        • @pmason78:

Can't compare with that, because at all other times, you will have your $5 avocados when they are $2, and no one is going to buy yours.

        • @smpantsonfire: I was joking :) but thanks

Did you check em out this avo?

  • they are probably tiny. a fruit shop probably offers better value.

    • still cheaper than normal

Fruit and veg is actually quite good at Aldi. Seems better than the tired cold storage crap from Colesworths.
    Just started to use it.

    • I don't like the fact that vegetables are not cooled at our local Aldi; they're just on shelves.
We've started to buy Coles brand frozen winter veg, $4kg. When steamed, it seems to have maintained freshness better than the "fresh" veg. Makes sense, given it is snap frozen within hours of being picked.

Yes, oddly is often much "fresher" to eat frozen IE snap-frozen at the farm fruit and veg than the living-dead zombie fruit and veg that Coles and Woolies keep in cold storage for many months before gassing to ripen.

I've always had great avos in these packs, if anything, the seed is a bit big, but who cares at under $1.

    • Not to mention for one person they are a good size and you have the whole avo, and don't have to save the other half which you may not eat.

  • Good to steal BuckScoop's post just to make sure they really go out of business.

  • I just paid $4.99 for this exact pack of avo's from Aldi :(
    Could be store specific?

    • Got mine tonight from kuraby $3.49 pk…chicken and avo wraps for dinner.😀

    • Qld?

    Are these the small ones?

Weight and size matters. Selling by quantity rather than weight can be misleading.

I am an Aldi fan but their Avo's are to be avoided. As someone else said always unripe, stay hard them rot. It's one of the few things to avoid there (along with their chips & pet treats IMO)

  • it takes them like 5-6 days to ripen, i buy them all the time cause avocadoes elsewhere are so expensive.

  • The price of avacodos are appalling! What is more frustrating for the consumer is that my parents live next to 5 acres of an unfarmed avacado orchid! literally tens of thousands of avacados go to waste… About 1000 of them come home with me :) I feel sorry for the consumer that has to pay more than $1 per avacado!

    • The labour cost out weight the fruit itself, unless you're avo lover, otherwise it's not for city folk.

  • I've found the quality of Aldi avocados to be fine. Occasionally I've had those which are super stringy and dodgy, but I've found thats the same with Coles/Woolworths ones too.

They do take some time to ripen, but leave them on the bench, then as soon as they darken and soften put them into the fridge. Have been able to extend the life of avocados this way - so that I can eat a ripe one every 1-2 days - a net of 6 ends up lasting 2 weeks.

  • These are consistently good deal at Woolies. Price ranges $5.50-$7 in local SA store. Often close to ripe ,and then they are excellent.
