How Much Money Spent on Pokemon Go So Far??

Hey guys! I'm feeling a bit guilty, hence, i'm wondering..as subjected : "How Much Money Spent on Pokemon Go So Far??"

I myself spent $35 already!!!!

And subtopic: Money was spent mainly onto what? i.e Pokecoins into Poke Balls, Lure, Egg Incubator etc.

My $35 mostly on Poke Balls initially and recently Lucky eggs.

Cheers!

edit 26July2016: just burnt my phone due to long activity of Pokemon Go..therefore, i think i've spent $500+ :(

        Ah nice, thanks!

    • Me too my phone doesn't support to pokemon go because of an android phone was old version. I really like to play in this game so bad. :(

  • +2

Does using Google rewards credits count?

  • +1

I wouldn't spend money on it until they fix servers and glitches. Already wasted an egg and incense due to server crash on Tuesday.

    • +3

I dropped an egg on the floor, such a waste, hold on it was a real egg, does that count?

$0, been getting coins by pwning gyms

    • besides collecting one gym, i can't see how you can hold (i've done it once) two or more gyms to collect the 21 hour bonus.

It is insanely tough. Even my sub 1000 cp pokemon can take down a level 5 gym with their highest being a nidoqueen circa 1500-1700 cp. You just need some potions. By the time I take any gym i"ve only once managed to leg it back home to get my usual gym and colelct two gyms worth of coins….

I think only those at the top of the game (one guy in my area has all 1800+CP pokemon dotted at the top of all the level 5 gyms around me) can actually keep the gym for that long. And probably runs around maintaing the levels.

      • I can't but beating one gym a day in my daily commute has gotten me around 80 coins so far. I've managed to hold 1 gym for 1.5 days

      • +1

I do it by going out after 11pm - A lot less people active means your gyms will prob stick around till morning

      • +1

        goto country towns

      • finally able to took over a gym but only last for 10 secondS!!!! gee

  • +2

Played for a minute around the room and uninstalled. save your money.

    • +6

      Thanks for the advice.
My advice is spend as much as possible.

      • -1

My advice is to give me money!

    $0
    no play for me

You feel sad for people getting out of the house, getting exercise, being social and getting fresh air instead of sitting on the couch?
      Damn man.

        • +7

It must be difficult being so out of touch.

        • +11

There are no trophies for not being interested in something.

♫…but I'm out of my head when you're not around…..♫

        • +1

you must be a fun person to hang around with…
that was sarcasm by the way. not sure if you understand its use.

i know of many people who are normally homebodies due to mental illness, like anxiety and depression, who are now going out and interacting with people because of this game.

so unless you know all the facts, its not really right to say that it is a waste of time.

    • +5

Looking at your post history, I can see you like computer/console games. Its just another game. As the other commentor said, the difference is that it gets you out of the house, getting excercise, being social etc..

      • -2

        See my comment above :)

        • +14

I guess you feel being on OzBargain in the middle of the night is a healthy alternative.

    • +3

Yeah me too. And what's worse is some of them are grown ups. Grown ups trying to have fun! Can you imagine? Just disgusting.

    • "There are better things to do in live :)"….obviously the dictionary doesn't get used very often

Don't feel sad for us, hmmmm i'll leave it at that

  • +2

    $30.99 so far…

  • +1

You can get pokeballs free at pokestops every 5 mins.

  • +3

    OP

Just drop some acid for a fraction of the price and go for a stroll.

    • +2

You be seeing dragons not just pokemon.

  • Used near expiry telstra credit on it. (from an old prepaid broadband sim) About $170ish worth of credit.

I purchased 150$ worth of itunes credit for 120$ (20% off) at Officeworks and used the remainder of my existing itunes credit to buy 14,500 coins on day Pokemon Go was released. I have spent 9,000 of the coins to date on the 25 lucky eggs and incense which I still have 16 and 21 respectively. Upgraded my item bag, allowing me to store more pokeballs therefore eliminating the need to ever buy them. The biggest cost so far has been the Incubators which I use to hatch all 5km and 10km eggs, I only use the unlimited incubator for 2km eggs.

I am currently lvl 23, caught 93/150 and the majority of my pokemon are above 1k CP. I work full time and weekends, have a fiance, house etc so purchasing gold has made made levelling up so much more efficient and has allowed me to keep up with my friends who have more time to play.

    • +1

All the jealous people negging you, hahaha.

On a personal note, I hate the microtransaction aspect of this game with a burning passion. I've spent $23 and I intend to spend no more. I haven't had $23 worth of enjoyment out of this game yet. I'm out of pokeballs but I'll just wait until I have time to camp a pokestop.

      • youll be better off finding a cluster of pokestops that you can continuously walk between as they respawn every 5 minutes. i did this the other day with 6 pokestops, was about 1km loop, but i did it for about 30 minutes and got between 40 and 60 pokeballs and great balls.

        • Yeah except I live in an area where all pokestops are at least an hour's walk from my house. :(

      • I never encounter enough pokemon to run out. Problems eh.

    Pokemon Go in a nutshell:

    1. You have to go and find magic balls that help you catch and enslave magic creatures. You find the balls at magic street gang hangouts called Pokestops.
    2. Some of those creatures you enslave you will feed drugs that make them grow.
    3. You obtain the drugs (street name: candy) by selling the rest of the enslaved creatures to a drug dealer who also performs horrible experiments on them (the kind of "research" that war criminals undertake)
    4. The ones you keep you will take to a local fighting arena euphemistically called a gym. If you're familiar with barbaric animal fighting rackets you get the idea.
    5. Your little gladiators win points which you gamble on them to take control of the arena.
    6. Individuals find it hard to control arenas so you will need to join a criminal gang (a "team").
    7. Pay attention to the fresh air and sunshine and your surroundings and you may miss out on enjoying the slavery, gladiatorial fighting, drug use, horrific animal research and criminal gang activity, so be sure to keep your nose stuck in your phone.

Sounds like IRL GTA… I like GTA

Though I never though the professor experiments on them, always had the impression he ran a slaughterhouse, I mean other than the pokemon what else can the people in the pokemon world eat? mmmm… fried magikarp and chips

    • -1

Imagine if Nintendo could replace the magic creatures/Pokemon with women. They'd make much more $$$$ because which men who wouldn't want to capture and enslave different kind of women to do their bidding ;p

      • Don't like the idea of enslaving people, but I will remark that a friend of mine posted a picture on Facebook of a woman in a really revealing Pichatu bikini with the remark "Finally caught a Pokemon". I told him he'd be in trouble once his wife got a Peek-atch-you.

    • +7

      please elaborate..thank you

    • +5

why? its great fun, promotes exercise and being sociable, plus its free

    • +13

I'm having a long hard look at myself right now…oh this is actually fun and I'm starting up random conversations with strangers on the street which is cool. I think I'll keep playing.

    • +4

I know right, I mean who would want to do something they enjoy? It's so much better to sit in front of a computer and make fun of the people who are enjoying themselves, getting outside and socialising.

    • +10

I'm a grown man, and I play. I've walked more in the last few days that I have in the previous month. This is a good thing.

    • You must be having that 'for real?' feeling when you are having lunch at work cafetaria and you witness full grown handsome working men in their suit and all gathered with their mates trying to look for Pokemon!

      • -8

No I would have a 'what a plucking loser' moment

        • +1

It's all a matter of opinion/perspective. That's what's so great about life, do what you like and enjoy.

    • +2

how do are you able to notice these things when your head is so clearly lodged up your ass searching for excellence?

    • +3

Seriously if you are a grown man or woman judging other people based on their interests without making sure you're a perfect person first, then YOU need to have a long hard look at YOURSELF.

    • What a bloody stitch up!

  • +7

I've bought lucky eggs. Using itunes card bought at discount, so hopefully that keeps some ozbargain cred. They double your experience, so when you've only got limited spare time to play it makes it much more efficient.

Love the judgemental comments over people enjoying a game. What does it matter to you what someone else enjoys and spends their money on?

  • Currently no purchases. But if they start selling items that lures rare monsters (even with just a low to mid probability of appearing) ill definitely risk spending money on it.

  • So sad

  • i spend $30

  • Haven't spent anything yet. Hopefully never lol

  • I haven't spent any money on it, but by the looks of it, I will have more dates far from my home. So I think it may make me spend bit of money on dinner and stuff.

    • Haha, cool

      • +2

:'( My girlfriend was satisfied with just having dates around the house, now we have to go out.

Actually I did need an excuse to get my arse out of the house, so I guess it's a positive thing.

        • Oh, I was thinking it was like poke-dating or something :P

        • +3

@spillmill: I am sure there are some, pokemon does teach moves like harden and hydro pump. Unfortunately, the moves I am getting for these dates are "glare" and "mean look".

        • @Oversimplified: glorious reply

  • +4

With the amount of lag bugs and down times on servers… they should pay me to stress test the game.

  • Currently $0, but thinking of getting some lucky eggs but not sure if it actually worth the money. My friend however has spent $100+ to buy stuff like bigger bags, lucky eggs, lures etc. but he is the extreme kind who drives to pokegym whenever he got kicked out of the gym. I don't think getting pokeballs is worth it, just go to pokestops (there are tons in shopping centre/CBD, there are 2 in my workplace alone). Instead, should just buy bigger bag, so it can carry more stuff.

Edit: just read that some needs to drive to their nearest pokestop which explain the needs to buy pokeballs. But I still think getting bigger bag is more worth it, then you can save up as many pokeballs when you are at pokestops. And if you don't go to the gym, you can discard the potions and revives.

  • OMG u can find lots of things playing Pokemon Go https://www.buzzfeed.com/juliareinstein/pokemon-go-dead-body…

  • Zero, which means I'm encouraged to walk more often.
but I don't get the gsmd- am not that into it. When Nintendo brings in the full classic game to iOS and Android then we'll talk.

  • +4

Ozbargain pokemon tip! If you throw a pokeball and it misses, you can select the pokeball from the ground to pick it back up! I just found this out recently, wish I had know sooner.

    • OH, cool, I gotta try.

      • +1

This does not work. It may give the illusion that you picked it up, but has been proven incorrect a few times.
You can try clicking it, but it will not add back to your pokemon ball collection.

    • doesn't seem to work?

    • Now that's a bargain!

    • +2

      Not true…

    • As if?

  • -2

You're doing it wrong if you have to spend money to play.

    • Clearly someone feels different about spending money on a free game…

  • +2

Out of curiosity, has anyone lost weight from playing this game yet? I see a lot more unfit, pasty people at Parks, at the beach… etc walking around, staring at their phones, clearly pokemon trainers.

    • +4

      i've lost 0.5445kg since last week, :)

      • Yay! Do you have a miband or a fitness tracker to track how many steps you have been doing daily?

        • +2

You can track how many km walked in-game with the Jogger badge.

        • +4

based on Jogger badge, i walked 57.45km :) normally it took me a year to cover that distance lolz

        • +1

          @0031nek: O.O

    • +2

Some people did lose their wallet too.

    • +1

I didn't lose weight but my Flu this year only lasted 2 days. I caught the flu the day it was really windy and everyone was sneezing. I'm back to normal now, usually it lasts about a week.

      • +3

        Then its not the flu

        • yep common cold lasts for a few days. Flu knocks you down in bed for at least 1 week minimum.

  • +1

set up lures in dark alleys and rob people, profit of $7000 :)

    • How can you profit $7000 when most of the people i've queued behind nowadays used paypass/tapngo/paywave to buy even just a soft serve cone??

      • +3

The trick is to have a kidney buyer lined up in advance.

        • you "rob people" or kidnap people??

      • Farm them iPhones :)

  • Spent $15 so far mostly on eggs and incubators!
    Hatch dem eggs!

  • Zero. I've played it a bit (Level 5, I have a dozen Pokemon, and a hundred Pokeballs). But I would never spend money on it. OP, stop wasting your money. Really.

    • yes it's true and thank you sincerely..it's just that recently as i mentioned, feeling guilty that i would spend money on Pokemon Go, i know it's a lazy thing to do, however i also helps moving lazy arse recently so it's kinda balance up my complicated feelings.. actually kinda happy that i can truly find something to spend on my accumulated telstra credit, rather than on movies and albums..in which wouldn't help me physically at all. Also it's disappointing sometimes that i recharge late that i lost all of my telstra credit..well i guess not anymore!!

      • +2

if you've spent money, and it has changed your lifestyle, that in-turn has got you exercising and is beneficial to your mental health, then f&%k the haters, its cheaper then a gym membership and worth about 2 counselling sessions.

lifestyle changed for the better = priceless

just remember to challenge yourself from week to week or month to month, e.g. im gonna say hello to 5 random people today and make sure i jog between these two pokestops, or power walk, or whatever.

        keep up the good work.

      • If you're using unspent Telstra credit (no idea how that works) then I wouldn't consider it spending IMHO.

  • Why do people say 'why spend money on a free to play game' when people spend money on paid games with micro transactions?? what does the game being free have to do with spending money on microtrans.

  • +1

I spend my money on upgrading my bag storage!
