  • This would be the cheapest price available grey import or not at the moment right?

    • This is Australian stock.

      • just wondering if this is the cheapest price (I've looked, but I'm no expert) whether grey import or not. ie.. I'm not concerned if its grey import. Yes, I'm aware this unit is AU stock.

        • At the moment yes, unless Kogan has stock, then it's about $208 iirc.

  • I bought this last time it was 20% off.

Good purchase, and if you're after in all in one streaming device, definitely the way to go. Has everything, all FTA catch-up services, Netflix, Stan, Plex, Optus Sport (EPL), but no Foxtel Play and GO or Presto, but considering I have Foxtel through a STB and don't use Presto, no real harm done.

    • Can I use my optus sports log in I use on my phone to log in on Apple TV? Or would I need a different subscription to use that?

      • I can't seem to find the appropriate FAQs regarding how many devices you can use with a single Optus Sport account. But I use my one account to sign into their website and use the Apple TV app.

if you're after in all in one streaming device

The Telstra TV goes for $40 to $50 brand new on Gumtree (unwanted freebies bundles with Telstra / Bigpond plans), and has Netflix / Stan / Presto / Plex plus all FTA catchups, and can be used on any ISP.

Also worth considering the Fetch TV Mini for $149 (or $5 a month through Optus for EPL), which also has Netflix / Stan / Presto plus the five FTA catch ups, as well as a FTA tuner (can pause and rewind live TV) and subscription TV channels etc.

      • I've used both and the new Fetch Mini is a far better option if you can stretch the budget a little IMO. Its faster, the remote is a million times better.

        • A million times better than the apple remote? The voice search on Apple is amazing, I only wish the FireTV came close..

        • @Lukian:

          I was referring to the Roku… <rolls eyes>

        • It's too bad that they don't allow you to subscribe to BEIN sports separately, otherwise I would have snapped it up without a second thought.

        • @ethanshdd: Which Roku? ;) There are like ~three?

      • Damn, just looked the Fetch up, boy they've come a long way in the years since I last looked. For $149 it'd probably replace our old ATV3 perfectly.

As long as iview, Stan and Netflix worked anyway. Everything else is gravy.

  • Anyone experienced Kodi running on one of these? Looking for advice on how easy it is to install and what the performance is like? I am I right in thinking this has Ethernet and not simply wifi?

    • Yes it has ethernet. You'll need access to a mac or a hackintosh to sideload kodi. You'll also need a typec-typea usb cable. I'm just in the process but am waiting for xcode to download (approx 4gb). Following: http://www.redmondpie.com/how-to-sideload-install-kodi-on-ap…

      • Yeah it sideloads fine, also did PopcornTime while at it. Grab one of the (braided) blitzwolf cables you see on special on ozbargain ~weekly.

        • ah cool thanks for Popcorntime idea.

      • hmm, so no mac no go?

I got one free thanks to Flybuys points, and it has replaced all inputs on our TV. Loaded Kodi which runs fine (Siri remote support a tad buggy). Bought a $3 Micro USB to USB-C adapter off eBay which works perfectly for side loading. The only problem is that you have to accept that the app is in alpha and sometimes your settings (like add ons) can be lost on updating it (will only get better as more updates released). It doesn't run as well as Kodi on my Nexus Player atm in terms of general smoothness. VLC and Infuse are used interchangeably as each differs in performance.

Since the TV tuner in my 10 year old Sony is broken, the DS Video app lets my parents watch recorded and live TV from a DTV tuner connected to my Synology NAS, and can also transcode low bitrate media (not needed if you use Infuse/VLC/Kodi). The catch-up tv apps from 7, 9, ABC are very good as well. Don't worry about the people saying that it doesn't have GigE or 4K. I don't have a 4K tv and I have 100mbps Cable from Telstra and have no problems watching Netflix or streaming local media from my NAS. If you put time into setting it up it can actually replace everything on your TV. The best part is the remote: the volume buttons control the TV as well and it actually makes things so much better having one remote. If you have a newer TV with HDMI-CEC then you can completely replace your TV remote with it because it can turn on/off your TV as well. Best purchase made in a long time and much better than Android TV in terms of functionality and ease of use.

  • Just bought my second Apple TV 4 from Futu Online. I confirm it's genuine aussie stock. Great price.

  • Gona have to sell mine. Apple decided to charge $99usd/yr for a proper developer account that extends your sideloading apps to > 7 days. The freebee dev now only limits sideloading to 7days. The other alternative to have kodi in ur apple 4th gen would be to purchase mrMC which I did.. however was so limited with many of the great kodi addons being not available.
