Every night I say a prayer that one day they will be $5 again. Still have 2 left from an old sale.

Even the $10 sims seem so long ago.

      $1 would be heaven!

so I'm a phone plan idiot. I have a prepaid telstra phone at the moment. I can somehow use this to recharge my phone right?

    • You can't recharge your existing sim card as this is a completely new one, however you can transfer the recharge credit to your phone which can be spent on things like google play, not to recharge your phone though. :)

      • but not on iOS right?

        • +1

Nope, you can just buy a cheap android phone to get access to the google play store if you like.

EDIT: just to be clear you are still able to transfer the credit to your main sim using iOS.

    • Depends on what plan you on, some plans can….

    • In fact you can hop between sims, as long as you don't mind wasting time on online chat every month.
Plus you'll forfeit all your rollover credits.

      • Thanks, thats more hassle than the $15 is worth to me.

  • Can you use Telstra credit on in-app purchases?

    • Yes

    • Yes… it's the main reason to buy one of these! $30 google play credit for $15

      • +1

Awesome thanks, I knew that you could purchase apps off the app store, but I didn't know you could also use them for in app purchases.

      • +1

I'm new to the android market with a tv box, does the $30 credit only last for the 28 days or can you load it all on google play to use anytime?

        • +2

You don't really load it into Google Play, just use the credit at the time of purchasing something on Google Play. So it's only usable before the credit expires. You can extend the life of the credit by recharging the prepaid for another month but that might not be what you're after

        • +2

If it's only for the TV box and you have no intention of using the calls and data, you can go for the long life plan to get 6 months expiry.

        • @krimovtartar:

Actually from what I've seen. The included calls credit expire in 28 days, whereas the $30 credit which can be used in the PlayStore expires in 30 days.

And you can only use it on your Android box if you have android phone to link the SIM to your google account. Once its linked you can throw the sim away.

        • @imcold: Ah yeah, my bad, the starter pack credit is indeed for 30 days. Good to know about the use of the android box, haven't looked into using it that way yet. cheers

        • +1

@imcold: If you pick long life, the $30 credit last for up to 4 months. However, if you already knew what your want to purchase for the $30, then prepaid freedom plus is the best. You get more calls (inc. some international calls), mobile Internet, and still have $30 credit (expires in 28 days).

    • yes you can, thats what i did

  • +7

wonder if tightarse can organise a cashback deal to make these $10 each

I want to be the very best
    Like no one ever was
Getting these SIMS is my real test
To activate them is my cause

I will travel across the land
    Swiping far and wide
    Buy Pokemon with credits
    With in app purchases inside

  • If I buy this today, can it be stored and activated later (October) for visiting relos?

    • +1

usually have expiry a year or so

      • +1

two years normally, if bought from Telstra store

  • Can these be used for data only plans? If so is there a link with more information?

I have just recently bought a Telstra mobile internet dongle and would put the sim in that.

    • Yes, you can

    • Yes you can do that. I do that.

      • Should I get the 'tablet' one, or is the 'mobile' one exactly the same and it just comes down to what plan you activate it on?

Also is there information anywhere on how much data that $30 equates to?

        • Apparently they are all the same and it's just package branding. I have used mobile phone branded sims and activated them on a mobile broadband plan.

          $30 is 3GB with a 30 day expiry.

        • @jacross: you get 3gb on the voice plan too right? Why get the mobile broadband only one then? plus the broadband credits are less transferrable

        • +1

@mobo: The voice plan comes with 1.5gb & 1.5gb of Bonus Night Data to use between 8pm - 8am AEST
          Offer ends 25th July 2016

  • Officeworks Chatswood refused to pricebeat. wtf…

    • Did they say why? I have no problem price beating at OW.

      • Just said they cant beat it. When pushed manager said because its from Telstra…. pfffft

    • +1

What are the relevant terms of their pricebeat offer?

  • I already have a telstra mobile broadband sim linked to my google play account - can I add more via these starters without issues?

    • Yes. I've done it about 5 times now.

      • how can you add credit to google account? or you pay with telstra credit?

        • You pay with the telstra credit. But only the recharge amount. Not the call credit

  • what does "Offer limited to one per person" mean?

    • It won't let you purchase more than 1 in the same transaction, you could try separate transactions if you wanted more than 1 and see if it lets you.

      • can anyone confirm that they were able to purchase more than one and their orders weren't cancelled?
