  • Good deal! Where can I find the information about 2GB/14 days? I have family visiting from overseas and this would be perfect for them to use. I just want to make sure it actually does come with the 2GB already. Thanks.

  • Are they locked to Optus? Does anyone know?

Man, they are pushing these out. These have been on sale consistently for the last 2 months. I guess the Chinese government really want to get hold of our data :)

    • I reckon this has little to do with Chinese government.

My guess is that Optus has ordered heaps of 3G stuff, piled up in their warehouse, just too much. Now 4G is mature, and even 5G is knocking at the door. These "old" fashion 3G equipment items will soon be valueless. Optus wants to get rid of it, or write them off.

Yeah, I was kidding at the chinese. I think the sim cards in these are set to expire soon, some in 1 Aug 2016, some in Nov, some in Dec 2016.

  • So I can put the sim in my phone to use it just for data, right?

    • I have the same question - Has Optus locked this, only workable with Optus sim ?

  • Optus 3G network is not as reliable in some areas. I know there is a dead spot in the Perth CBD where you basically cannot use it at all as the network over congested. Better to find a 4G device.

Big W is having a special at the moment for the Optus Huawei E5573 for $29. Not as good as the deal before but probably the best price at the moment.

    • Can you recommend a 4G USB Dongle for Optus?

      • Sorry can't help you there as not too familiar with dongles and haven't used one before. I did placed an order for the Optus Huawei E5573 yesterday from officeworks as they updated their website to pricematch BigW. The E5573 is a portable 4G device.

        • I think I might get one of these.

I want something that I can plug into a Surface Pro 4 and not have to worry that it has been charged up.
Also want it to be small and easy to carry in the case/sleeve.

I currently tether to my iphone but it just drains my phone battery so fast.

So a USB dongle that is powered from USB is what I think will work best.

  • Does it have an activation expiry?
