    • +5

im holding you back right now

on the other hand, can anyone recommend some good value combos?

    • +9

Let it go~~ let it go~ can't hold back anymore ~~

    • Quick check of the market, that's a good deal, you're practically getting Group B and C for free :)

      • +1

Group C is total garbage. It's basically group B for free.

    • Sold out

    • I held back for all of 3 seconds. Already have one but just bought a 4k monitor so Crossfire here I come and… they're sold out. That's what I get for holding back. Let this be a lesson to all.

      • +1

just wait a few weeks and there hopefully will be 480x's a bit cheaper than $399

        • +2

          May be a bit difficult crossfiring a R9 390 with a 480x

    • -3

      Group A is Valor
      B is Mystic
C is Instinct eating glue in the corner

      Trifecta POWA!

  • Not bad, XBOX One + Gigabyte Powerline Switch + sometime else for $399.

anyone with experience with the arlo security system?

    • +3

Very good picture quality and easy installation - however keep in mind the battery may need to be changed over every 6-12 months depending on usage.

      • +1

thanks for that panda smurf. ;0)

      • +2

What's not often mentioned is that the resolution is only 640x352 by default - enabling HD sacrifices some battery life. And 4-6 months is the official battery life claim for 'normal' usage (it's extremely variable in practice).

    • Yep. See here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/3795554/redir

      (Spoiler: Love it)

This is pretty good, but what is with some of the RRPs and prices?

    e.g. Apple TV 64gb is $349 at apple.com.au. Here it's listed as $544 reduced to $369

    • +9

Yeah, SE are known for that. Just look past it :)

    • Best tip is to ignore the RRP, they were probably the release RRP for the product in most cases (tricky but nothing illegal AFAIK) you just need to keep an eye on the bigger picture, is the reduced price competitative? With Trifecta's I find usually if I can find something in Group A and Group B I am already well ahead and Group C is just for qualification. These higher prices Trifecta's usually are very good.

Liking the look of MSI R9 390 + Crucial BX200 240GB + Belkin Mini DP to HDMI. But I'm not tempted enough to pull the trigger this time

Best tip is to ignore the RRP

The RRP works at a subconscious level to skew your sense of value, ignoring it isn't possible since it's an automatic process.

wat? is that like going to thailand and knowingly pickup a lady boy based on his/her good looks?! ;P
How da hell did I come up with that?! I better keep my mouth shut now….

        • @homersyd: You know from experience? ;)

        • +1

Here on OzBargain we are "professionals" according to Mr Harvey. I am sure we can manage to ignore RRPs and make our comparisons based on street price.

      • Way better value on the Arlo + plantronics Fit + anything from C. arlo never been seen below even $350 !

        • Only if you have a need for the Arlo. With nothing to you if you have no use for it. Lol

    • Bogan, Kogan sells it for $291

  • Anyone have any experience of using both a flat and curve monitor in a dual setup?

    • Sounds awful, but no, I'm just guessing

    • +2

I'm guessing it would be fine if you position the flat one to look like a continuation of the curve

      example top view:

  • They even sell cosmetics? Group C: Skin Doctors Supermoist SPF30+ Accelerator 50ml

    • -1

      It's lube

  • +2

Ah pulled the trigger on a R9 390 and the mobo. Got the battery iphone case as I figure I'll be able to flog it on gumtree for a good price given PoGo is so big.

  • +3

I'm so glad the R9 went out of stock. It would have been a bad impulse buy.

    • I'm keen on waiting to see some reviews on the non-refernce RX 480's

  • Don't know what to get for Group C :S

    • I know. I wish they could just put a monetary value on Group C and allow you to donate it to charity.

  • I got the G920 steering wheel in my group A, what's a good option for B and C you reckon?

    • +1

B: Crucial SSD if you have a need for it. Otherwise Xbox One controller. I own that Samsung USB in 64GB, it's write speed is slow. Don't bother.

C: Nothing. Just pick one at random.

  • Don't get the 390. Mine runs so hot and loud it's not funny. It's starting to artifact and I'll probably have to RMA it.

    • -2

You're not meant to touch it.

      • A hot gfx card is noticeable because it increases the temperature in your case making everything else hotter, and heats up the room it's in. Not because you touch it.

        • -1

People can't take a joke some times.

        • -2

@lostn: People can usually take good jokes…

  • +1

390 is good value in theory but an inefficient steam train. 1060 or 1070 is the sweet spot for blistering performance without sounding like a tractor.

  • Grouped roughly as $300, $80 and $20.

  • Ended up with the 920+keyboard+monitor stand (for my workbench)

Not too shabby a deal bundle this time around :) Wish they has some gigabit switchs not the shitty 10/100

  • Am j right in thinking that the cpu (i5-4690) is incompatible with the mobo (1151 chipset)?

    • They're incompatible.
      4690=1151-1

      • Thanks for confirming. That's pretty disappointing.
