  • From the site. : Presale. Leaves warehouse on 16 Aug.

Apparently doesn't support HEVC codec. Only 1 year warranty, more available.

There is also this https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-55-led-tv-full-hd-zd/ for $200 less, and 'Presale. Leaves warehouse on 23 Aug'

    • Does it need to support HEVC? Does Digital TV use it?

      • It's one of the latest codecs reducing file sizes and increasing IQ which is why (I suppose) other new TVs have it.

        • IQ? Oh Image Quality lol.

Wouldn't the stuff you plug into it via HDMI decode HEVC anyway? I guess if your TV is "smart" maybe it matters.

    nothing good comes from Kogan

    • +1

listen to this guy tuzii. kogan = not good

    • -1

Does a Sumsung panel make no difference? Though the newer TV's details I've seen support HEVC, not that I've seen many.

  • C'mon Tax Return. Papa's gotta' buy a new TV.

Surely spending the few extra hundred for a Hisense/TCL TV would be the smarter choice? That's what I was looking at getting.

    • +3

Absolutely smarter IMHO. Kogan is a horrible company and the brands you are looking at have 3 year warranties which beat even the big names.

      • I was surprised when I saw the 3 year warranty on the TCL brand TVs. Haven't yet looked at reviews for their customer service though.

Kogan TVs have particularly bad raps & I guess there's a reason for that. Don't buy from them.

I bought something from there and wanted to cancel. They refused. It had only been 12 hours. It took a week for it to be collected (to be returned) and the hassle was monumental. Can you imagine having a real problem?

For the sake of sanity, spend an extra couple of hundred elsewhere.

    • Listen to Snook, He is correct. I cancelled within several minutes yet it still took weeks to resolve. Kogan has bad systems in place= poor customer relations.

    • Why did you want to cancel ?

      • Didn't do enough due diligence and found a better product elsewhere.

        • And you don't think it's unreasonable for them to not not allow you to cancel or to return at your own expense?

        • @richieisnow: It was a Sunday night. I rang Monday morning. Yes, I think it's unreasonable.

It wasn't picked until Monday night. Doesn't matter how you look at that, it's bad customer relations. It means I won't go back and I tell others.

    I had a Kogan TV once…Never again.

    • Me too, i took the chance and it shat itself after 2 months. Took 3 months to get my money back from Kogan after the screen cracked when i sent it back.

    KOGAN BOGAN.

i suspect most kogan customers buying kogan brands are just one off customer and never buy again. im talking about kogan brand not buying samsung phone from kogan for example.
im so stupid that i bought twice kogan brand stuffs from kogan. never the third i swear!!!!!!!

just like this OP.. i think at the end he/she will buy that tv.. and then after few days or weeks regretted and never buy kogan brand again.. let see my prediction is correct/not. the price and photos are so appealing, plus the name in the news. .its all marketing tactics that somehow works but just for first timers and newbies..

The problem with Kogan is that he only needs to suck in everyone once and it seems that he has managed that.

It's hard to say no to such a seemingly good price for the big sized TV you want, but the hassle is so not worth it … and you never realise until it's way too late. You also can never throw the box away because you're going to need that box to send it back. Samsung panel or not, the panel does not drive the TV and they seem to be built with zero quality control.

It would be great if the OP comes back in a year to tell us of his experience.
