  • Just curious. What do you use yours for?

    • +1

The Wife has a tinker with it, few basic games and Netflix, email
Keep it lean and clean it plods along, as mentioned, Its not a V8

  • can you install kodi
    and how does it run

    • Yes u can install kodi.Kodi is available for Android and windows.

I have not used this product myself but I have used Lenovo 100s (very similar specd laptop). It should do all the TV box things easily. If playing videos from browser, use MS Edge. Not chrome or Firefox(don't know about other browsers).

I have installed asphalt 8 and that works flawlessly. Goat simulator works 30 fps with lowest settings and resolution (800x600).

Kodi runs OK when using local network. For online videos better use browser.

  • How to install windows update / upgrade with only 32Gb…. I am struggling with my 64Gb drive.

    • 32GB is fine for Win 10 & Android. Those 16Gb tablets are a squeeze though. Your drive may be full of bloatware.

    • U can update with USB drive DVD keep recovery files on USB drive.

I have upgraded 16,32 and 64 gb devices.

      • it needs more than 4Gb C: space to upgrade, I have to delete office / chrome and set to 0 page files for a 32Gb C: to update the new windows 10 1607.
        How can a 16Gb function? :D

        • +1

16gb actually have 9 gb usable space and around 4Gb is used by the OS. First time I tried to update with 5 gb free, window update used the 3 gb space for downloading and asked for 5 gb free space again. So using a USB eliminates need for downloading and rollback is created on the USB.

I am using store apps mostly because they use less space. And I have SD card 64gb for videos and programs.

  • I removed Android as it was a waste of space I thought, and yes a if you do fill it too much a usb stick will take the excess.
CCleaner, adwcleaner, and using Windows 10 Firewall and Defender, had to do reformat it about 6 months ago,
ISO burn to stick with Rufus, F7 boot menu, boot from USB, Done, picked up Key Fine, have a keyfinder handy and grab you key just in case.
I also use Slimjet Web Browser based on Chrome, not as piggy, using Edge is better for Video as mentioned.

  • Cheap Plex box??

    • Would also like to hear about this

  • Good price. The newer z8300 CPU decodes H.265, which is good for a media player. If that's not important, than this is still a good option.

I bought a mini pc this week to act as a media player as well as a retro game emulator.

    I got this one http://s.aliexpress.com/IFbM7fia

I almost got this one http://s.aliexpress.com/FRrAJbAJ
but I wanted a gigabit Ethernet port (this is 100M which is still fine I guess), as well as this one doesn't come with activated copy of windows.

    • Long shipping time. within 25 business days

      • I've had stuff send via ePacket before (a step up from standard Chinese shipping) and it takes about a week. The one I bought says it ships ePacket free. At the end of the day I'm in no desperate rush for it.

    • "this one doesn't come with activated copy of windows" based on the user reviews? AutoKMS etc?

      • Wintel is an OEM box made by a lot of companies. Some will provide genuine Windows while others will not.

  • the only prob i have with these Z3735F win10 boxes is they really struggle with media heavy webpages like stan and netflix…
I am wanting to upgrade mine to a z8300 or z8500 unit.

Unless this unit is a little better? but might chunks when scrolling through stan.

  • Does anyone know if this will be suitable for an incoming steam stream (or if not can you suggest which one is suitable?)

    Any help is apreciated!

  • @Clear, any cheap android box plays 1080i.ts ??

  • I recommend the xiaomi 3 pro if you can bothered tinkering around with it to get english ui and google play. Much more powerful and can playback 4k x265.

  • Also mini pc's using core i3/i5/i7 depending how much you like to pay on ali express.

  • I've got the Beelink BT3 with similar specs, slightly newer z8300, gigabit ethernet, and a USB 3.0 port.

Remarkable what they can do for such a cheap package. Mine runs couchpotato, sonarr, nzbget, Netflix, and Kodi without a hiccup. Web video through edge plays fine.

If you are planning to use it as a media player, I wouldn't ditch Android. Android can be a lot easier to set up and managed memory better. Windows 10 runs fine, but controlling it is a pain. Netflix app provides only volume and play pause. Amazon doesn't have an app, so you need to use the browser.

  • How does it compare to Nvidia Shield TV for Android Gaming?

Nvidia Shield uses Tegra 4. Not show how Atom compares to Tegra for GPU performance.

  • Could someone please test what it (Win 10 config) is like playing videos from the V8 supercars site http://www.supercars.com/videos/

    • Deal will be up by then, but I'm guessing it would by powerful enough to play videos considering it is intended to be used on a TV to play videos, and it's a full copy of Windows 10.
