PS4: Street Fighter V General Story DLC - FREE

310

This DLC has not been promoted but it's free to download.

Adds about 20-30 new fights, all cinematic is animated in 3D and quite impressive story. They also brought in a stack of playable characters in this story mode (not available outside story mode).

Characters in the General Story mode:
Nash
Ibuki
Balrog
Yuri
Alex
Etc etc. I didn't get all of their names.

The initial release of the SFV was a major let down and I guess they are slowly making up for it.

Download it free in the PSN!

Technically you paid for this when you bought the game, but it wasn't ready for release yet so it was only a promise that it will come later.

I dont really consider this free given that it was supposed to be part of the game.

Capcom are too embarrassed to promote it, that's why.
    Failed to deliver at launch.

I don't consider it free either, because it's part of the game.

It's also really bizarre and overly long. Made me laugh at times like when I was Cammy and beat up some poor cop called Peter.

Worth noting: This is also free on Steam, but it's hard to install. See https://steamcommunity.com/app/310950/discussions/0/35166033…

    • They rushed the game out so that it could be at EVO and other fighting game tournaments. As long as they give it free later, it's an ok compromise.

You could wait for the game to be discounted to like $20 and get it, along with the "free" story mode DLC.

  • Thank you ops! Great find.

  • That 8G file should've been on the game disc in the first place.

    • It should have, but the whole game would have been delayed. So you can either play multi first and single player later, or you can play nothing first, and both later. They would have missed Evo if they waited till the game was ready, so I can understand their decision.

If you didn't want to pay full price for an incomplete game, you could have just held off until this was ready and pretended it never released in the first place.

I'm just glad they aren't charging for it.

      • I could've just held off if I knew it was an incomplete game. AAA Games should deliver a complete game in the first place. Games like SCE GT & Ground Zero are different as they made them crystal clear in the first place. I am even happy about Work-in-progress games like RUST, H1Z1 and DayZ etc. SF5 is different, I felt Capcom published SFV in a very dodgy way.

Always read reviews before buying games. They did say it wouldn't be in till later but didn't make it very public.

I wouldn't call this a AAA game, but if they waited till it was complete before releasing, you would have had to wait longer, and still pay the same price you originally paid for it. You didn't have to pay extra for the complete game when you bought it, so in a way you didn't lose anything. Had you waited you wouldn't have saved any money, but you wouldn't have been able to play multiplayer early (which is what most fighting game aficionados care most about).

The game's review scores got dinged for releasing incomplete. What they should have done is charged less for the original game and sold the story as DLC instead of charging full price and releasing the rest for free later.

Haha. I like your comment as it is quite objective. Saying it is not an AAA game, that is so true, well, at least from my SFV gaming experience. One thing tho, I still keep this game because I also purchased an arcade stick that EB doesn't accept for trade in. I am too lazy to post both on eBay, so both game and stick have been collecting dust.
