How does this crap get published?

  • How many hours of Sun light will be needed to recharge 100000mAh Battery ?

    • +4

It's a 12000 battery apparently.. 100000 solar panel.. Whatever that means

      • 1.5W, 3.6V nominal? 100Ah - gives 250 hours - of noon equatorial sunshine? to do what?
        Solar cell estimated lifetime perhaps?

    • -11

hello, the Battery capacity: About 12000mah and Solar Panel Capacity: 100000mah

    • +6

12Ah battery with an input voltage of 5V, so I'll assume this as the battery voltage, which gives you 60Wh. The panel is 1.5W, so ignoring inefficiencies, it would take 40 peak sun hours to charge the battery, or just under 10 average days in Sydney.

"Solar Panel Capacity: 100000mah" This has no meaning what so ever though.

      • 100amps OMG! WTF as if

      • Maybe the solar panel will stop working after it's charged the 100Ah? I.e. It'll stop working after 8 charges.

      • Lol. Best write up, ever!

I have one of these from Aldi and it is identical but is 7800mAh. And the solar panel on it does not charge it at all. Left it outside for a week starting on 25%. Checked it after a week and it was up to 50%. So, 10 days would probably almost charge it, but don't rely on it being your go to Pokemon Go! Charger if you wanted to fall back to solar. It just won't cut it. :D

  • Charger adapter? Why? How reliable are these solar battery packs?

    • -4

yes , it has 8 Charger adapters, you can charge you different devices

100000mAh Solar Battery Charger Dual USB External Power Bank with 8 x Charger Adapter US$11.69/AU$15.4 + Free Shipping @ Newfrog

Lol I had to double check how many zeros were on that!

    • +6

      Sorry, he means 100000000μAh.

    • Yeah I thought this was a typo. Doesnt look like it

  • +1

How many weeks would it take to charge in the sun?

    • -14

hello, hello, the Battery capacity: About 12000mah and Solar Panel Capacity: 100000mah

    • Someone will steal it before you find out.

  • So does that mean the Panel holds 100,000 mah charge, and battery, 12,000mah, so when the battery drops to say 1,000 mah, the panel automatically charges the battery from it's stored 100,000 mah?

Or does it have to be actively in the sun to charge the battery? therefor the panel not actually holding any charge at all?

  • am I too addicted to Ozb if im thinkin of getting this? Even just for the powerbank and not expecting much from solar

    • +2

Expect literally nothing from Solar, this wouldn't help you if you were stuck out in the bush with a dead phone.

  • +2

Tesla power wall costs 10k. Solar panels cost another $5k

I can buy almost 1,000 of these. Which is better you reckon if i want to be off the grid?

    • +3

Buy 1000 of these, power your neighborhood and get the kickbacks :D

      • +2

If you buy 1000 of these they might think you're a terrorist with the explosive potential :P

    • These can be daisy chained for ease of use.

  • A mate takes one when camping and after the first drain, he leaves it out the following day and it charges his phone the next night. It had some bullshit specs when he got it from China, but the thing was like $15.00 and he seems to do o.k from it.
He also has a precharged power bank, but his cheapie solar is definitely handy when camping out after a few days.

Would be good to know actual charging time and what it can actually charge.

Do you have any of that info REP?

    • +3

How safe is it leaving a battery out in Australian sun & heat though?

      • +2

Apart from safety, Lithium batteries do not like heat, and will degrade seriously under high temperatures.
This product was probably not meant for the Australian sun, I would imagine.

        • -1

It's the same sun as other countries.

        • @28Degrees: but at different angle and proximity in summer…

  • Have seen similar products sold in camping and gadget shops here in Australia, so I'd assume they are built to be in the sun, due to the whole solar thing.
Have seen my mates on 2 summers now and it seems fine????

Edit - Just realised that I didn't explain that I was curious about the specs on this and was asking the question of the rep. I wouldn't buy this due to no user reviews and not knowing the brand for example.

  • +6

i have this exact model. its a pile of crap! no where near 10,000 its more like 4,000, it will just charge my note5 and have a little to spare. It does recharge via solar but slowly and very gimicky

    • Thanks for the review. I'll pass.

  • AHAHAHA.

    Solar Panel Capacity: 100000mah

That doesn't even make sense. A solar panel doesn't HAVE a capacity. Absolute rubbish.

  • Does it drop to 0 when the sun goes out? :p

    • +1

The sun will go out in about 5 billion years, so you should be sweet.

      • LOL

  • Once fully charged it should address all the worlds energy problems

  • +1

ozb isn't exactly a place to offload crap you buy from china for $1 then resell at a massive markup. Okay, wholesale might not be $1 but seriously this is trash, even the misleading panel specifications says it all.

Stay away from these cheap solar panel battery packs from China. They are trash, not worth your time.

  • +3

Back in '80, I bought a Solar Charger for AA batteries. When I went camping I left it in the sun, hoping that it would charge my walkman batteries. I hop it's still there, and by now the batteries are charged.
