110

I saw that Optus is selling the Xperia M4 Aqua for $229 delivered. The phone is locked to Optus. Unlocked versions are still going for around $350 on Mobileciti/$299 at Officeworks (white), so even with unlocking this is a good deal for Australian stock.

Features:

4G
8GB internal memory
SD card support
5" HD display
13MP rear camera
5MP front camera
2400mAh battery
Water resistant to 1.5m

I think you would struggle with 8GB of internal memory but if you don't use many apps, it could be doable.

Easy to fix. Allows up to 32GB of added storage using a Micro SD card.

Comes only with 1.26GB free space to use though (out of the box). You can't move all apps and data to the Micro SD, and the ones that are moved will obviously run slower. You can regain another 500MB by removing some core apps like facebook, AVG etc, but that space will fill up fast.

Well atleast you should be able to store music MP3's and videos etc on the Micro SD?.

          1.2GB? Christ …

          @hollykryten:

Yeah, as Helldog said, if you don't use many apps it can work. The cache alone will start filling up that available space very quickly (e.g. Chrome or Facebook), and as you approach the limit it will start to become quite sluggish. The Oppo F1 is probably a better buy at $199 if water resistance isn't important.

Don't buy this phone, it is very slow.
It takes two seconds to save picture after shooting.

That's quicker than my 16MP digital camera can save photos. What do you expect totally instant picture saving?. These mobile phones are essentially low powered hand held portable mobile computers, not high powered miracle machines.

      • +5

I don't know how slow your digital camera is, but it does affect the whole experience of taking pictures. It is the slowest mobilephone camera I have used since 2 years ago. The picture quality is also very average.

      • Dude the camera on phones have improved a lot and 2 second shutter lag is not acceptable

People use phones to take quick snaps of kids or dogs running around.. 2 seconds is too slow

    • +4

It really does feel a lot more sluggish doing anything than the specs would suggest.
I agree it is one of the slower cameras on a phone I have come across.

      • It's probably bloat in the operating system that's at fault.

If this is upgradeable to Android 6 you should be able to extend storage to sd, which eliminates the need for apps to require move to sd support, it is transparently integrated.

    • +1

It can be updated to Android 6.0 but the adaptable storage feature is disabled.

      • Negative there is no official 6.0 update yet I'm still stuck on 5.0. The phone is unfortunately slower than the specs would suggest. I can't wait to get rid of mine especially if sony doesn't enable adaptable storage once they finally release 6.0 for it…

        • I think the update is pretty recent, at least for the Australian 8GB version, seeing as this video I found was uploaded on July 24: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yi0G2akFCK8

With the latest update 6.9GB was taken up without much installed, according to the guy in the video.

        • @nanoronline: So why don't I have Marshmallow?

        • @Ronnie23: Yours is from Optus right? Maybe Optus botched the update, while the guy's in the video is an unlocked Australian version.

        • @nanoronline: No mine us unlocked. The update hasn't released here yet.

  • The phone has very poor battery life. Either Samsung J5 or Moto G 3rd would be more practical choice.

    • +2

The Oppo F1 would also be a better choice at that price and locked to Optus.

  • Just Go with one of the Xiaomi redmo note 3 deals , really good phone for the price it is available today

Got one for the Mrs and she's very happy with it .. used a Sony t2 Ultra as an interim phone when I cracked my Nexus and it was very bad

  • 8gb storage lol what are we still in the 1990s what a junk phone.

  • Honestly when you can get phones that compete with flagship devices, for the same price. Why would you waste your money on something like this, if your even the slitest tec savy you wouldn't by a phone like this.
