Leather Chaise Lounge - $1499 (Was $2299.95) @ Super Amart

110

A suite that ended up being our second choice, despite the price reduction.
Recommend test sitting given the individual nature of furniture.

    What is your first choice?

      The suspense is killing me!

        this one.
        http://www.discountloungecentre.com.au/index.php?route=produ…

        reasons in order;
short end has a 'corner' as opposed to just an arm so can sit in it better. on reflection after our day of test sitting, it was the ONLY one with this feature (aside from 'modular' sofas which then don't have a chaise.
        ottoman was a bonus
fabric vs leather? decided on the cosier feel

cost was not a driver in the choice between the two (blasphemy I know), because given the lifespan of furniture a few hundred dollars means little, pricing in Plush etc is another matter.

sales pitch or not they only had two RHF (Right Hand Facing. Mirror image of webpage which is LHF)

  • how good is Super Amart? I always have a feeling they are like Kmart stuff.

    • +1

why? because of the word "mart" at the end of their name?

      • I think because of the prices as they say you get what you paid for. Would like to hear people opinions on their furniture quality.

        • Friend has a super amart leather recliner set ($2000 or so). It's super comfortable and looks great. I'm pretty impressed with their stuff tbh.

        • +2

Well, if it makes you feel any better about cheap lounges, I've sent back new suites costing 2-3x this price for shoddy workmanship from HN, Domayne & Freedom in the past…it's all mass produced junk nowadays, and the luck of the draw if you get the same as you've ordered or seen as a floor demo model.

Pretty hard to get well manufactured furniture nowadays, even if you pay more…

They are like fantastic furniture. Probably both should combine and rebrand as Super Fantastic Amart Furniture.

      • +4

No way, Fantastic's stuff is horrible even compared to Super Amart's!

        • +1

I had great couch from fantastic. solid, great stain resistance, large enough to have a nap on. Only got rid of it because it didn't fit in our house. but then some stuff is Craptastic. like Ikea.

        • @altomic:

It was great because it was large enough to have a nap on? So is a football field?!

        • +1

@31mop: yeah, but I wouldn't have room in my house for a football field either……

Amart is pretty poor quality. All the pleather delaminates after ~5 years like clockwork.

      • +1

        10 Year Structure Warranty
        5 Year Leather Warranty

They tell you that anyway! :)

It's pretty hard to know whether this is a genuine deal or not.
If it's "Bonded Leather", I would say the price is about right. But if it's genuine leather then it's probably a good deal.

Unfortunately, the lack of information suggests that it is bonded leather.

    • The Delilah Leather 3 Seater Corner Chaise boasts up-to-the minute styling and is fully upholstered in luxuriously soft 100% leather

      Seems like leather to me!

    • My 'bonded leather' Amart couch is now just a pile of flaky rubbish, after 5 years. I wouldn't pay more than $500 for a bonded leather couch. $100 per year sounds fair.

      • During the recent hard rubbish collection there was a bonded leather lounge set put out. The top of was all flaky. But all the sides and backs were perfect. Used Mr Slasher to cut off all the good areas. Used those to reupholster my dining room chairs (good for another few years now)

  • For those who are interested, here is the link to many types of leather. A full leather lounge would be more costly.

  • Do anyone recommend leather look sofa vs fabric? I hate cleaning.

  • +2

bonded leather (not the good stuff) can be called 100% leather

  • Few comments above about Super Amart qualilty. Until recently I have never even been to S'Mart, but I had just purchased a holiday house and was interested in furnishing it with reliable and affordable furniture. I friend who specialised in wood floorings suggested that I try them out based on his previous experiences and his experience with wood.

So I went there and purchased two bedroom packages and lilving room package. All have been delivered and I ahve to say so far I'm ecstatic. The mattresses are superb, and the furniture looks very solid and attractive too…and all stable with no issues.

I have no idea about their leather sofas but based on the above, I might wander in and take a look at their selection anyhow. I'm a bit more selective with leather sofas though.
