Nextbit Robin

You get smarter every day. Robin does, too. It learns what you use, and it’s designed for fast OS updates.

Room to grow
By merging cloud and onboard storage, Robin seamlessly backs up your apps and photos, intelligently archives the stuff you’re not using, and easily restores items when you need them.

We started with a rectangle.
The simplicity of the shape inspired us, and we built Robin from there. Clean lines. Paired circles. Eye-catching colors. Texture that feels great in your hand.

One touch start
We combined the power button and fingerprint sensor. We put it right where it needs to be—where your finger naturally rests.
Press the power button, leave your finger there for a split second, and Robin is unlocked. No more complicated swiping or passwords.

Every detail matters
Everything about the design is carefully planned to create harmony and balance—front and back, right and left, top and bottom.

Built for comfort
Square sides make Robin easy to grip while gently rounded edges give it comfort in hand. Robin’s weight is balanced so it always stays centered in your palm.

  • Hmmm

why is this worth $323? it looks like a generic china phone with a whiff of celebrity due to the ex Google staff.

But plastic body and a measly 2,680 mah battery?

  • +1

would be interested if anyone has one of these for a review.
Battery seems small but depends on how hungry the OS is.

    Anyone have one?

It ticks all my boxes - nfc, type c charge, Aust LTE 700mhz on band 28. Other Chinese phones dont support the 700mhz 4GX that optus and Telstra have.

Let me know if you have one and what it is like please

    • The real question is how often will it receive updates. THe only acceptable answer is at the same time as Google releases the Nexus updates.

      • +1

same time as Google releases the Nexus updates

That's a pretty tough expectation.. Not even all supported Nexus's get updates on the same day!

It's got CM13 maintained by Cyanogen, so pretty fair chance that'll update to CM14 pretty shortly after Android 7 drops.

It's a terrible device that has the "innovation" of storing stuff you don't use as much on a remote server and freeing up space on your device - and it does this automatically.

Naturally, like Google Chrome devices that also requires a network to use the device, this innovation renders the device slow and sometimes unuseable so that makes it a terrible device.

Surely they know that $20 64Gb micro sd cards exist?

Dont buy from QD_au, lots of people are having extended delays with their faulty LG G4's.

    • +3

It's not QD's fault. LG is under a lot of pressure to fix thousands of broken G4's. Mine took 8 weeks to be fixed and returnd to me via QD_au so I understand…

They can definitely receive some of the blame. Their lack in communications is disgusting.

They received my faulty phone on the 22nd of June and I had just received it back from them today. After not hearing anything from them for over a month, I sent them an email and they replied back the next day which was the 28th of July saying that it had just arrived back from repairs and that they would like to confirm my address. I sent 3 more messages since then and had received no reply back from them. I was left guessing as to whether or not they sent the phone back to me. After almost 7 weeks of them receiving my phone, I finally got it back from them today

No it IS QD's fault- because I'm only talking about their responsiveness to emails/messages to even get an RMA!!

    • QD is good to me

Was looking at this the other day on Massdrop… Stopped looking at it after seeing this https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=EU6Tv-OfXk0

    • It looks very plastic aaaand it is.

    • +1

well that's one way to do a teardown.

Looks like you don't want to accidentally sit on the corner of a chair with this in a back pocket though!

    • haha the bend test, I'm definitely will not be touching any of that. The least is to stick the mobo on a metal frame but nope.

  • Mint colour from the same supplier for the same price.
