yeah good charger, I'm coming up to 4yrs on my i4 Nitecore and used almost every day (bout 5days not used in that time) so if the D4 show to be just the same it's a keeper. Majority of the time it's been 18650's then the households AA/AAA and odd D cells.

    • I just bought the i4 off eBay when they had the 20% code

      • Oh you won't be disappointed, rock solid and get on with the job. It's kind on batteries, not one has ever felt too hot, I mean I still have my old powertech's from Jaycar bought in 2012 still in use. Panasonic's 18560 still in rotation (ecigs). The ability to do 4 at a time is great, though I find myself wanting to measure a batteries capacity now but it's hard to buy another when this works so well. Easy to read just from the indicators afar.

        Is there better out there…sure
        do you need better…..not always

        • No doubt, been using the LA Crosse BC-700 from amazon for a couple of years but recently got some CR123 batteries so have switched over. I4 was cheaper than the D4, but at this price, it's a no brainer to grab a D4

  • +4

This is also good for charging 18650 battery. Quite popular amount the ecigg community.

  • I use this for my 1 hour+ commute to and 1 hour return from work daily to charge Eneloops and Panasonic protected 18650's.
This is a great charger that handles multiple cell chemistries.

  • If you're interested in a good charger at this price point, checkout the liitokala lii-500. Not that far (around $5 aud more) from the price of this nitecore.

    • Liitokala is better?

      • +1

It has more features than the nitecore. It can charge 4 batteries at 1amp each and it can analyse batteries as well. For a few bucks more, you'll get a better bang for your buck.

        • If you just want to charge 4 18650's at 1A each, around $5 will buy you a 4x holder and 4x 1A USB charging modules. Some wire, solder and hot glue and you've got a 4x 1A charger (assuming you have a USB charger that can output 5A).

        • The D4 analyses batteries right off the get go when you put them in the charger.

        • @mapleice: Analysis and not just a quick test like what I think you meant. An example is it can tell you how much mah your battery can currently hold by discharging then charging the battery (this takes a while). It then tells you how much mah the battery holds so you'll have an idea whether your battery is still good or not.

      • It's a very good Li charger, not without a few minor faults though. (see conclusion at the bottom of the page): http://lygte-info.dk/review/Review%20Charger%20LiitoKala%20L…

I bought one of these yesterday for us$15 delivered at aliexpress

      • That's probably the one that doesn't come with the power adapter.

        • It doesn't, but I have so many AC adapters (never throw them out and always collect them when I can)

        • Could you please link to a safe and compatible adapter? I really don't want to start a fire. Will any plug that is 12v/2a work?

      • Link?

Can't see it in search. I also have heaps of cords lying around…

        • +1

          link - US$14.99

the method to obtain best results on aliexpress is to search for the item you want. Open up a few tabs with the desired item and then scroll down the page to "From Other Sellers" and scroll through those. find the few cheapest price there and then search again in those products in "From Other Sellers" for an even cheaper product.

Aliexpress search and "sort by price low to high" doesn't always show the lowest (rarely)

find the cheapest but make sure the seller has good feedback. obviously sometimes new sellers offer a low price and they could be legit and starting out so it may be worth the risk. alipay buyer protection is pretty good. (I've made over 400 purchases from aliexpress)

        • @altomic:

          Legend, much appreciated.

So get this over the nightcore? Mostly for AAs, but I'll be moving to better battery types in the future.

          Thanks.

        • @xdirex: they are both pretty good chargers/capacity readers so… I bought the liitokala lii-500 solely to have a capacity reader.

for the price you can't go too wrong. it's a multi purpose charger. and for US$14.99 delivered then it's pretty good value.

I've been using a Fujifilm BC-NHS twin AA charger (which i received with my first digital camera) for the last 15 years to charge my double AAs. awesome little charger.

altomic, thank you. I am a big fan of your instructions that you post about different websites on how to get a better price. Cheers.

@batrarobin: thanks for that. I've just written a guide for buying on aliexpress. hopefully it makes sense and assists people.

  • Great charger, love mine.

  • +2

How can you be sure it's not a fake before you buy these things. From what I read it is hard to tell.

    • looking at the feedback for the D4, all say its genuine and passes genuine test when entering validation code @ Nitecore website

  • i got the coupon, how do i use it?

i go to "my coupon" and clicked"use now" that redirect to main site.

then i searched for the D4 charger, and still same price?

    • nvm, you will need to proceed to next step to be able to use it (buy now)

  • I have this charger. AMAZING charger.

  • Damn … bought OPUS BT-C3100 for $50 last night :-(

    • +1

Opus is on a whole different type of charger.you have 1 amp charging and battery test functions

      • Can you elaborate on this ? Is it good or bad ? It was recommended for my eneloops hence bought

        • +6

Its heaps better so if you load up all 4 slots on the D4 charger you can only charge at 375mah per slot! If you load up all 4 slots on the opus you can charge at 1amp each slot on the opus you can discharge cells. You can also test cells to see the capacity that they have and also check the resistance measurements with the opus.

Only thing is the opus charges in a different cycle style it uses pulse charging compared to the Nitecores constant current and constant voltage (CC/CV) not such a big issue just some battery charge better with CC/CV also the opus has a built in fan while the Nitecore doesn't. A few people have had issues with the fan! Mainly noise issues not a major problem.

You pay a premium for the extra features i was going to buy the opus but i went for the lii 500 similiar but uses CC/CV.

        • @aussieprepper: Thanks mate ! Cheers !

  • Got this for $19.09USD
    Thnx

  • Just bought one great price. Thanks easternculture.

  • Been looking at a 18650 charger for my Panasonic batteries, how does this compare to the xtar vc4 which sells for a similar price ?

    • I have owned the xtar for about a year after having a Nitecore i4 that died within 6 months. I only bought the Xtar to try another brand after being a little dissapointed with the response from Gearbest and Nitecore. Realistically I think they are probably about the same except the Xtar has a fancier display

  • +1

Xtar vc4 is a good charger.

  • Cheers, been waiting a while for a good deal on these chargers. I payed $25.01.

  • Thanks for the exchange rate. I didn't realise it's gone slightly up in our favour! 0.77 now.

  • Thanks OP, been waiting a while for a deal to popup on these. Don't forget Cashrewards for those who use.

  • +1

I was looking at buying these from eBay a couple of days go until I realised there are a FLOOD of fakes out there. Here's a thread showing the difference between a real and fake one.
    http://budgetlightforum.com/node/44203

    And also this: http://www.electricalsafetyfirst.org.uk/product-recalls/2015…

    • +1

No way you can really tell unless you take it apart. Some times there may be little differences like the charging slot and the springs. Maybe spelling mistakes also. Aliexpress is usually good with refunds for fake items.

Here's an update from Filter Joe on eneloop and chargers

    http://www.filterjoe.com/2016/02/04/best-aa-batteries-and-ch…

  • How do you guys pay on AliExpress? I am wary of using my CC online and generally use Paypal.
    Coles prepaid Credit Card?

  • Great buy

  • Are there any good chargers out there that can discharge rechargeable batteries as well (non lithium ones of course)?

  • I'm using MAHA C9000 and SkyRC NC2500, those are better chargers if you wish for better performance. Although 4 x the costs of this.

  • Is this 110v/240v?

I'm currently in Canada and just realised my regular Eneloop charger only has 240v written on the back.

Running out of batteries fast with all the bear spotting!

Edit: Ignore me, just read the site. Yes, it supports multiple voltage!

  • How do you guys pay on AliExpress? I am wary of using my CC online and generally use Paypal.
    Coles prepaid Credit Card?

Also could I convert it back to AUD before paying.

Sorry first time purchaser on Aliexpress

    • I've used my regular CC many times on AliExpress, never had an issue.

Perhaps I've just been lucky? I don't believe the seller ever actually sees the details do they?

      • Will your CC charge International processing fee? or any extra fee?

        • 28 degrees card - Nope.
          Most others - yes.

    • I used to use 28degrees because I felt unsafe usually Aliexpress checkout. Even if it stuffed up my cc didn't care. But now it's a different story. I cancelled it didn't think there's a need for it with Bpay fees

      • Try a Bank West Zero Platinum card. No annual fee, no foreign transaction fee.

I use to have 28 Degree card but switched to this one.

  • Is this better than the sanyo eneloops charger?

  • Good charger. I've got this and the LA Crosse 1000. Both are great.
This one has the added advantage of charging a winder ranger of battery types, especially the 18650s for all those torches we have.
I got it from AliExpress last year for $24.17 so pretty much the same price, and was original.

  • Will it charge normal non rechargeable batteries? (Like Duracel AA batteries). I had another charger that did this just not sure if this one can do it. Thanks

    • nope, don't think so.

I have a charger that can recharge normal batteries and it does it by going very slowly and the idea is to not let them go flat but I found there isn't much point when you have Eneloops.

    • +1

      charge normal non rechargeable batteries

Don't try it , it may cause fire.

The mechanism is totally different between rechargeable and non rechargeable batteries.

  • My charger that charges alkalines gets acid and crap over it. Does this happen to other people? Does it only happen with alkalines?

    • Generally I don't think alkalines are rechargeable

  • Is this 100W or 120W?
    More power the better.

  • Ok, noob battery charging guy here. I understand this is better than the standard eneloop charger but what are the main differences that would justify buying this over keeping the standard charger?

    • +1

Hey mate depending on your Eneloop charger? If its a smart charger no difference as such. Except this charger has a screen that displays when the batteries are full also displays how many volts it has put into the battery the time it took and the MAH (Milli-ampere per hour) going into the cells. But it does not display the total MAH the battery has so total capacity. The charge rate may be faster on the Eneloop charger If you charge 4 cells at once with the D4 max rate is 375 MAh with 2 cells it is a max charge of 750 mah. Also if in future you upgrade your battery collection this will be able to charge other chemistry type batteries.

I have one its a great charger but it has been retired since i upgraded to a 1 amp charger. This Nitecore charger also has a ultra low charge mode for AAA batteries i think its like 300mah Generally you want to charge your cells at least half of the capacity so a 900mah battery below 450mah.

      • Cheers for the explanation. I just have the standard charger that came with the Eneloop Family Pack.

        • Then this is a big upgrade.

        • Standard Overnight Eneloop Charger is rubbish.

  • Is it an Aus power plug?

    • +2

You have to select which plug you want. AU is available.

  • I thought that the best charger for your batteries are the ones with external power, which helps to eliminate heat during the charge.

  • Got one last time for around $35…..

    Very good charger

  • Good charger for Vape Batteries

  • Good deal, now waiting for next good deal for eneloops…

  • Does anyone know if they ship using Aussie Post network? Just wondering whether this one will be fine if I ship to my parcel locker.

    • I don't know the answer to your question but I've been shipping everything to my parcel locker for a while now, so far nothing has been unable to be delivered there.

  • Done, cheers.

  • Does anyone know of a smart charger that takes 9v batteries?

  • Question: is it possible to select the charge current so as AAA's are not abused?

  • Just received mine, took 8days from order date to doorstep.

    Validation code: 7999720905503107

    Is all validation the same??

    • My code is different which is a good start - also opened my charger up and it has Nitecore written over the capacitor so that is a good sign. Everything else looks legit too so i think we scored lucky….

  • I got an email today saying that I received my charger, but i have yet to receive anything. Does delivery require a signature?

How do you make the display cycle through each batterys stats?

I've got it stuck on one battery at the moment and you need to press 'slot' to change stats.

    • I got this message as well… still no charger :-( I'll give em till Wednesday
