  • Any good type-C powerbanks? For a 6P

    • +5

      USB-3.1 Type C is rare.

on anything. you can just get a separate cable for it and it will work.

About the only major thing that makes a difference in a battery pack would be

      1) pass-through charging (very rare)

      2) Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 (QC2.0) and QC3.0 which adds higher voltage and USB3.1 Type-C, QC3.0 is also backwards compatible, supports fast-charging and ipad/tablet amperage and compatibility.

either 2 or 3 are a good option for future use.

QC3 batteries are ferociously more expensive though, because the quality has improved in production. QC2, has better tech than the cheap clones.

Anker (US/Germany) and the offmarket Aukey models might have a type-c charging port, but you can just use the std rectangle "Type A" USB for Type C phones/tablets.

Still, USB 3.1 Type-C is not something you'd find all that often on cables. It's a bit like finding support for USB 3.0 super-speed (data+power) data cables, i think they're up to 5 kinds of USB 3.0 connectors now …

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB#USB_3.0_connectors

      • +1

The whole point of USB 3.1 C is the faster charging speed.

Just using a separate cable would be slow.

        • He said QC3.0 has support for 3.1 Type-C so if you got a QC3.0 charger and used a USB-C cable then you'd get that speed.

    • +5

Yep there's a few. I was going to make a post but got lazy.

Tronsmart Presto: - 27USD after Discount. I have this one. 12000mah, Type-C 3A input and output is perfect for nexus devices. Also has Quick charge 3.0 output. Charges itself in 5.5 hours.

Vinsic Terminator P3: 31.29USD after discount. Just ordered this one. 20000mah, Type-C 3A input and output. Quick charge 3.0 input and output. Charges itself in 4-5 hours with Quick charge 3.0.

      • +2

Great minds…I ordered the Vinsic Terminator this morning, after pouring over a bunch of different options for an hour. With the coupon and Cashrewards it's around AU$38. It will be an absolute brick at 500g, but it's the only one that has everything I want. Vinsic are very well known and reputable but the Terminator must be new since you don't see it around on other sites yet. If it lives up to the specs it will be a beast.

        • +1

Thanks for your comment Jonsnow. Actually I was a little worried about the vinsic brand, since like you said I couldn't find a review about this one. Good to know it's a well known brand.

        • Mind if I follow up with you when you get it? I'm really interested in a USB C powerbank if only to charge my laptop, and would like to know how the Terminator fares

      • Thanks. What made you order the Vinsic after owning the Presto?

        • +1

Nothing really, more is better :D

I just needed a power bank with more capacity, and want to try the vinsic. Perfectly happy with the Presto. I actually got it for 26USD before, and if it was at that price now it would be 21USD after the discount! Too bad it's expensive atm.

      • Vinsic looks interesting with USB-C and QC 3.0 input and output.

        • What is with the Vinsic Terminator shipping?

The cheapest option is FedEx IE…

        • @futaris:

Vinsic P6 is stocked in Australia…

        • @futaris:

Talking to myself here, but the Vinsic Terminator is now 65.98 USD.

        • @futaris:

Got a message from Vinsic saying that Vinsic won't ship to Australia because the customs office introduced a policy, which won't allow battery items to be sent (from China)

  • +2

And the pick or the 4 would be…..?

    • I have the xiaomi and love it - can't say anything about the other 3

  • Is the aukey one good. Notice it charges using iPhone cable
That means I only need to carry one cable with it. Handy

  • The shipping time is so long @@

    • Longer than anything else out of china?

  • +1

Need something to fast charge my S6 Edge. Very confused with all the jargon. Any recommendations guys?

  • +3

The first one has an ad within the description that says:

Only bigotry makes the utmost of product.
    Solo 6 Plus 16000mAh
A technical paranoia that has to make charging into an enjoyment.

The Xiaomi seems to be the lightest and it fast charges itself (I can't see that any of the others have fast charge of the power bank or devices?).
There's no feedback on that listing, but their 16000 mAh has feedback that says they received genuine Xiaomi products http://www.aliexpress.com/item/100-Original-Xiaomi-Power-Ban…

    • Your correct about the Xiami fast charging itself, the Auckey does too at a listed 2 Amps input.

  • Thanks OP - looking for a light 20000mAh … will read up and see which is lightest.

  • +1

I noticed that the romoss are bloody heavy compared to xiaomi. What gives?

  • +6

The last Xiamoi 20,000 I grabbed from aliexpress from a deal posted here ended up being a fake, has anyone bought from this seller before and confirmed original xiaomi?

On the plus side aliexpress refunded me fairly painlessly once they stepped in but still waiting that long for shipping only to have a counterfeit powerbank was disappointing

    • +3

How could you tell it was fake out of curiosity?

    • +8

I think i bought the same thing as you but I am having a painful time trying to get my money back. I was stupid enough to agree to go through the dispute system for return to get a refund. Turns out I can't return it, aus dont allow you to ship batteries. Told that to the seller and they told me they will get their contact from australia to pick up the battery pack from me and then cancel the return shipping. Of course its all bs and they are just waiting for the 10 days to go by before the money gets released to them if I do not end up put in a tracking number for the return parcel. I ended up putting some fake numbers and need to wait for 30 days, if they dont respond I get my money back or they can raise the dispute……and that will drag it on even longer!

Contacted aliexpress customer service and they told me they can't do anything about it until the dispute is complete. its so frustrating and partly due to my own stupidity. You live you learn i guess.

Just for other people who are buying power banks from aliexpress, if they turn out to be fake do not agree to raise dispute to return the product. Just request for refund!

      • +1

Have a very similar situation going.

To reiterate, DO NOT agree to return the fake product. Just insist on a full refund.

        • Should I jump on this deal? If it's fake do I just get a full refund and don't need to worry about sending it back?

        • +2

          @madn3ss:

If fake you raise a dispute and state in your dispute that you cannot return the goods. The seller will try and get you to return them but you just wait for aliexpress to step in and they will side with you and you get your refund. But they do not take into consideration anything you say in your messages with the seller only what you write in your dispute so you need to write in there that you cannot ship batteries or that it is illegal in Australia for you to knowingly ship counterfeit goods etc

Other than that the aliexpress process is fairly straight forward for disputes

      • What do you reckon would happen if you just chucked in a random tracking number since it'll take a while to get there anyway? Since they're giving out full refunds normally anyway to other customers without needing to send back.

        • thats what I did. another 25 or so more days until i know what happens. they say the seller can either confirm receive of goods or raise the dispute… if they dont' respond within those days then i get my money back. such a pain really

        • That sucks… I didn't accept their proposal since they were pushing it and their wording wasn't clear. So I decided to make a proposal with the correct wording. Turns out that doesn't mean anything…
Unsure if we can just ask the bank to reverse the transaction.

        • @Mjamie: so the seller told you to do a random tracking number? should do it, not gonna kill better than leaving it and after 10 days they get your money.

        • @cheapskateasianchic: Nah, I was just thinking that's my only option now if AliExpress customer service can't get around their system.

        • @Mjamie: the seller has escalated the dispute. They sell counterfeit products and refuse to refund. This is quite frustrating. I will keep you updated.

        • @cheapskateasianchic: Haha, thanks. So what are they saying? You faked the return?

        • @Mjamie: yeah, they escalated responding with "Unable to view tracking number" so I'll be waiting for aliexpress to contact me directly now

        • @cheapskateasianchic: Cool, let me know how it goes! Hope it goes well.

        • @Mjamie: so, aliexpress case management team emailed me to send evidence of my tracking number etc. I responded that it was illegal to send the product overseas from Australia and buyer agreed to come pick it up from me but that didn't happen. I dont know if they don't understand english or they didn't read the evidence I gave but after 10 days they responded with:

          Dear name,

          Thank you for contacting Alibaba.

Regarding your order<30174511663720>, I am sorry that you didn’t get an amicable solution from seller. We will try our best to provide you any support.
I am sorry that you have choose returning your package. According to the rules, returning the package can't regret.
Since you agree to return the products for refund, please provide the shipping document with valid tracking number(including the tracking site link ), returning address to prove you have sent the goods within 10 calendar days. A full refund will be issued once the delivery is confirmed completed and goods is in good condition. If no shipping document and valid tracking number are supplied within 10 calendar days, we would assume that you want to keep the goods and the payment will be released to seller.

Please note that you should bear the shipping fee of return which may be expensive. We suggest you return the goods according to seller’s returning address. If you send it to a wrong place, you will be responsible for the loss.

          Note:
          1. You are suggested to return the goods by registered mail with the tracking number like AAxxxxxxxxxBB. If you choose a shipping method without track&trace service, it would be with low cost but high risk. Usually the package number of that kind of shipping cannot be tracked. If no tracking information can be located afterwards and seller didn't received goods, payment will be released to the seller.
          2. If you have settled the dispute with seller, please response in the dispute detail page so that we can be informed and follow this dispute according to the settlement.

Your understanding and cooperation will be appreciated.

          Best regards,

          AliExpress Case Management Team

          I am going crazy.

        • @cheapskateasianchic: I'm sorry to hear, that sucks. I find the AliExpress customer service sucks and all the promises that AliExpress customer service has made to me when I contacted them are just all talk. I am hoping to have a bit of a better time with the tracking number I put in.

        • @cheapskateasianchic:

I received a similar response. The Dispute Team has closed the case, with the money being released to the shop.

There is a further appeal avenue, which I am not going to bother with.

And they give you the chance to complete a survey on the process - an opportunity to let off steam, and tell them how shit their system is. Obviously water off a duck's back.

Oh! ……… and you get to rate the shop.

        • @jackspratt: so in the end we all gonna lose our money? So ridiculous, these guys seriously know how to work arnd the loopholes. Did you pay with a credit card? might be able to go through chargeback and get the credit card company to get money back for you. I will try that if this fails.

        • @cheapskateasianchic:

Paid with credit card ……. looked at chargeback ……. too much trouble for ~$17.

          Another of life's lessons.

I still have an order (not a power bank) in transit - once that is (hopefully) received, no more AliExpress for me.

  • +1

my old romoss 6000mah cant charge galaxy note 3 from zero to full.
also to charge the powerbank itself, very slow.

    • +1

Batteries degrade over time. They are just rechargeable batteries inside.

  • Love these 20Ah power banks. I own the Xiaomi one and it's particularly great when travelling and on the road regularly where I could go without a power point for 5-6 days to charge the essentials: iPhone + Apple Watch + Bose QC35s.

  • Xiaomi must be fake at that price…

    • +3

Not really, it's only cheap because of the coupon, which is an AliExpress promotion and has nothing to do with the seller. Retailers like Everbuying are actually cheaper than this (before the coupon).

    • The Genuine xiaomi powerbank sells for about $20US in China so the pricing is about right it's just that there are a lot of fakes as well

  • What is the difference between the sense 6 and plus.

    • -1

LCD Screen I think looking at pics

      • +1

What happened to the other Aukey Aliexpress seller for the 30000mAh you posted?

        • -1

They stopped shipping to Australia . God knows why ?

        • -1

Now I think about it , they may have stopped shipping to au due to a confiscation from customs because it's a battery ??

        • @easternculture: Why would customs care if we shipped a battery ?

        • @easternculture: That's what I'm concerned about. NSW and VIC got their power banks, but no news from QLD customers. What is wrong with the safety in shipping that many power banks when they are declared? Also, why does a lot of our orders not have updated tracking numbers to even have left China? An agent better fix this up for Lu Lida from Aukey Aliexpress otherwise the whole deal is going in the toilet.

        • @easternculture: Don't the other listings by the same store seem to work just fine?

          http://www.aliexpress.com/item/AUKEY-30000mAh-Portable-Charg…

          http://www.aliexpress.com/item/AUKEY-30000mAh-External-Power…

I know I had to cancel 1 order i made on behalf of a co-worker, as it was earlier in the day before I saw your extreme coupon-ing…

  • Should I buy the Xiaomi 20,000mah? What's the chance of it being fake?

    • Also is it similarly built to the 10000mah one?
I bought the 10000 one a few months back really like it aesthetically and functionally, so planning to buy a bigger one for when going on holiday.

      • I think 10,000mah ones have a metal casing instead of white plastic in the 20,000mah

  • +1

can't seem to get a coupon code dunno how long the email takes.

    • forever I think

    • Pretty sure when I used it the coupon showed on the page after I signed up, I didnt need to wait for an email it was just in my account to use

  • +1

So buy this if fake you get refund back and free pokey bank?

    • +1

personally I recycled my fake one as far too many sub standard fakes seem to be the start of those youtube videos showing exploding powerbanks and fires

  • +1

Just me but I don't buy things like this from overseas sellers especially from a place that chances are you are buying a cheap ripoff off a cheap ripoff.

If something goes wrong with it and it causes damage you have no recourse and you are only saving 10-20 bucks. Especially considering all that cheap charger fiasco a few years back. Not really worth it IMO.

  • Anyone know of a good place to buy the xiaomi 20000 power bank with reasonable shipping time and no chance of it being fake. Would rather pay a little more to have a proper product within a reasonable time

    • +1

      Mushtato.

    • +1

mushtato or geardo seem to have stock in australia with fast shipping, should cost around $59

      • +1

cheers, just checked and saw that geardo have the 20000 xiaomi for 48.95 AUD with free express post.
        http://www.geardo.com.au/index.php/batteries/power-banks/xia…

bought a few of them as family also wanted one, used GEARJS16 to get $5 off (says it only works for orders over $50).

Really couldn't be bothered dealing with a possible fake and the hassle of a return, or waiting a month for the package to arrive from china. Genuine aus stock seems a better way to go with something like a battery.

  • +1

I can't see how they can ship this to Australia. After buying a Floureon H101 drone recently on here I can't get anyone overseas to sell me spare batteries. Two Chinese suppliers accepted my order then cancelled it. Amazon suppliers clearly state they won't ship batteries to Australia.

    • +1

Yeah i had a similar situation. I ordered a 16,000mah Xiaomi battery before, and it got sent back to the seller because Australia doesn't accept batteries over 10,000mah. That's what I've been told during that whole ordeal by the courier as well as the seller. Apparently Australia just implemented this new rule in? But at least i got refund.

Has this happened to anyone else?

      • Sellers normally use the inexpensive China and Hong Kong Post that prohibit power banks. They probably don't want to pay extra using a different service.

        • In this case Everbuying were using Netherlands Post, still refused. Strangely they were happy to send 5 spare batteries + charger with the Floureon, but unfortunately I ordered the wrong one!
Gearbest used exactly the same wording as Everbuying to refuse my second order - apparently they are the same company. To their credit they both refunded my order within minutes of being asked.

        • @techy: That's unusual. PostNL have never rejected power banks and I have one coming with them.

  • The only one I would risk my money on is the Aukey because it's from Aukey's official store. Anyone else and you're susceptible to fakes.

    • "brand name" flagship stores are often not official but are resellers (some of them are authorised resellers)
like this authorised reseller http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Aukey-20000mAh-Porta… but recently, the store only send to Europe with PostNL. Dunno if there are websites like shipito US.

      • They wouldn't authorize a reseller that sold fakes. That would be stupid.

  • +1

    ROMOSS Sense 6 Plus 20000mAh(aliexpress.com) - US $18.48

looks like the seller has just jacked up the price :(
    it's no longer $US 18.48 after $5 discount, it's now $21.99 after $5 discount
not so happy with them …

  • @easternculture
are the aukey 20000mAh original one or not?

  • Shame:( before I order, deal is expired. Will wait for new deal. Happy with current rosmoss 10kmah.

    • Missed out too…
