  • watt is the bestttttt way to obtain Chinese VISA - through Flight Centre or Agent? how much does it cost usually for a 1 month VISA..? thanks…

    • +2

Just do it online.. Costs $110.00. You have to take your passport and the printed online form you filled out into the Chinese Visa pace in capital cities, or courthouses if elsewhere.

China Eastern does $650 direct from Melbourne.
    Qantas is via Sydney.

    • +4

Yeah but with Qantas you can have a guy or older lady serving you instead of a young chick! Total bliss :P

  • How do you find these deals TA??? YOu are the man!

    • From the body and link: "Spotted these great fares again on IWTF's home page." :)

And a chunk of their electricity distribution network. Then kick up a stink when they won't sell it to you.

      • Oz oz oz. Butthurt butthurt racist!

        • -2

So racist for us to put our best interests first, but not racist for literally all of Asia to deny the same thing?

    • You may find that any house there in Shanghai is somehow unaffordable…

      • Are there even houses in Shanghai city anymore? People I know (old folks) all live in apartments and condos…

    • Why?

  • I couldn't find the luggage allowance details anywhere. Can someone shed some light on it, pls.

As you guys are aware, Shanghai is mainly a city centre with the Bund, so most of the attractions are buildings and shopping stuff. If you dont mind some light travelling, you can go to Zhu Jia Jiao water town and Hangzhou (1-2 hours drive/bus from central Shanghai for both depending on traffic) for a day trip. These places are beautiful and definitely worth travelling to.

    • Hangzhou is really lackluster. Been there several times through transit. Go to the great wall or maybe jiu zhai gou

      • Jiu Zhai Gou and Shanghai is 2000km apart. The whole point of recommending Hangzhou and Zhujiajiao is because they are right beside Shanghai city for any travelers who only just wanna do Aus-Shanghai return. If we have the option to take internal flights, there will be soooooo many places that could be recommended.

You never heard of the phrase "Above there is heaven, below there are Hangzhou and Suzhou." Hangzhou often makes one of the top few places in China to visit on any list. Probably no one brought you around properly during your transit? You do need a ride to make it to a number of places like Linying Temple.

        • Been all around the city. Rode around the lake. Most times I've been it's been covered in smog. Whoever created that saying had obviously never seen places like Tibet.

For an Australian, shanghai has a lot more than hangzhou to offer. Propaganda museum, shanghai museum, Disneyland, fine dining, film parks, shopping…

Suzhou is nice in winter, or in spring. The gardens are worth a day or two of exploring and reflecting.

But yea, a short domestic flight or train ride opens up a world of opportunities for travel

  • Part of the current Asia sale, mentioned it on the previous thread
