    1h:30m technical stop at Nanjing

    • plus noisy and lousy passengers around you.

      • What?! Do the ppl in Beijing get any better?

        • -6

Try sit near to the parent with kids, it's a "Pressure !". Free music, free drama show and free "China" taste not only in your eyes but also for your nose.

        • @dlovep: ewww….do you mean they take care of their business out in the open?

        • -7

@homersyd: Mostly, people who neg me are mostly mainland Chinese, I don't blame them because the culture are so different. But once you've tried you will see the "True" taste of it, not to compare with Cathay Pacific it's none comparable.

        • -2

          @homersyd:no that happens very rarely

        • @dlovep: Oh, don't even get me started on how rude Cathay ground staffs can be when I enquired where the closest exit was and was basically told to bugger off.

Uglifying others does not make you look better.

        • @maolin95: actually upon a quick google I've found these incidents re. chinese pooping on planes….

@jkcat: Cathay isn't Chinese. But then to the majority of bigots out there, they all look the same.

        • @homersyd: So you've seen Chinese tourists taking a dump on the street? Or are you basing your racist statements on tabloid magazine "rumours".

Using the same frame of logic, Aussies are all dumb genocidal baboons.

        • @joeno: Hope you understand the boundary on "Talking about this Airline only", not being racist or anything, as I said earlier it's culture different. Not going to offense anything.

        • +1

@maolin95: yes very rare on the occurrence, 2 times in Business class I can smelt the "fishy" from the look of a tour guide, another time is from a business man who insist to place his feet up in the air and facing near where I sit. The only time I can run away is I sit on the first row, that's must be my lucky day.

And nearly never miss in the economic class about the noise.

        • -2

@joeno: I've seen someone holding their kid over a rubbish bin doing a wee or poop in HK (and of cos i didnt take a picture)… (although I'm pretty sure they were mainlander not hong konger).

And since you asked about dumping on street, I did another google search and found this:
          http://shanghaiist.com/2015/10/05/chinese_tourist_burberry_b…

But let me say this…never ever do a google image search for "chinese poop street"…

@homersyd: Hmmm… Ironically, there are also bad urine smell in Sydney CBD early in the morning…

Every country has % of outliers, I don't think it is fair to label a country because of the wrong doing of those outliers.

  • Anyone able to find a Mel<->BJS Direct route date?

    1. Any opinions on China Southern?
    2. How bad is the stop over in Nanjing?
    • +1

I flew with them early in the year. They are better than Air Asia, or Jetstar imo.

    • Flew Rome to Shanghai with them two years ago, average middle of the field airline, nothing to rave about but nothing to carp about either. Would fly again if they were offering the best point to point fare (I much prefer direct flights) .. :-) .. !!

      1. Avoid, I've done about 20 flights with Chinese carriers. Hopefully my last one was in Dec last year, I have vowed never ever fly a Chinese carrier unless there is absolutely no other way. Sometimes you might get a nice new plane. But you will always get crap service and horrible travelling companions. I've seen it all: Constant spitting on the floor in the isles. All out brawls to get on the plane first. Some guy going nuts attacking the check-in counter while the local cops just watched. Guy using my head rest to help adjust his seating position throughout the night. Over 50 joyless dry humpings from Chinese behind me in different queues.

      2. If everything goes well, no problem. If there is an issue and you get delayed….. so help you god (because they are not likely to). have a read through some of the stories here of people being delayed http://www.productreview.com.au/p/china-southern-airlines.ht…

    • I like China Southern … they offer great stop over accommodation in Guangzhou …

The airport staff walked with us to the bus stop, advised the bus driver our hotel's name.
Because the bus stop is few minutes walk to the hotel so the airline staff waited for us at the bus stop with umbrellas - it was raining.
Next morning, they gave us a packed breakfast and drink, then the shuttle bus took us from hotel to airport.

The staff from Sydney - Guangzhou are quite nice.
      The foods were okay.

    • Does China southern stop over in Nanjing? Thought they only stop over in Guangzhou.

They refuse to give me a refund few years ago after I canceled my Spring festival flight, one thousand bucks one way… People like it because of its luggage allowance.

  • Also a Qantas partner so you'll earn (a small amount of) QFF points to boot.

    • Good luck with that… it's not an easy process and you need to keep following up.

Flew Nov-2017 and after I had to send 5 emails, photos and the original tickets and boarding passes. China Southern kept knocking back any claim. Qantas eventually just gave them to me in a good-will credit.

      • Always harder when you need to follow up, but if you get your number in at check in and it's printed on your boarding pass then there shouldn't be any issues.

        Flew Nov-2017

Flew and 2017 in one sentence is giving me headache :P

        • +2

i think thats the reason why China Southern are having a hard time giving him his points/status credit. they dont have a time machine.

        • @michaelTito: ops 2015

  • +4

    Worse than a budget airline.

  • +7

The last time I was on a China Eastern flight the kid (around 10 years old) sitting behind me pissed into a bottle because his parents were too lazy to take him to the onboard lavatory

  • I'm only getting $543 for SYD-PVG. Anyone had any luck at $515?

  • -1
