Optus $65 Per Month for Galaxy S7 on 24 Mths Plan. Save $480. 7GB Data / Unlimited Talk and Text / up to 300 International Mins

1250

Looks like optus are offering this deal again.

Awesome value at $65 per month.

Combined with this deal for free music streaming (or add another $10p/m for unmetered netflix/presto streaming) and you're laughing.

EDIT: students may also be eligible for a further 10% off! apparently it is calculated on the original $85 value, potentially bringing the monthly cost down to just $56.50! thanks fidelio and krazynayba.

  • ordered one ! Thanks OP

Great deal, will get one. Note that description says free music streaming, not exactly the case (streaming is unmetered but you may still have to pay for the service). Should prob be updated.

  • It seems plans are increasing their data allowance all the time nowadays. Pity I'm trained to live on a few gb a month now. And storage is so cheap I don't need to stream that much content. Also I already been suckered into subscribing to youtube and it's so convenient just to download videos and watch them anytime anywhere without consuming your data. You can never beat the convenience factor of having all this extra data at your fingertips. Can't believe how I bought a 200gb sd card so I could have plenty of storage so I didn't have to waste my petty data limits. Maybe accessing cloud storage will become a realistic option in the foreseeable future.

    • Download videos off YouTube?

I watch a lot of instructional videos, being able to download them is very helpful

      • I would like to know as well …!?

        • YouTube red subscription allows you to save videos for offline viewing. Also means you don't have to watch ads anymore, and you also get Google play music subscription included for free.

Of coarse there are third party apps as well that allow you to download youtube videos for offline viewing, but I aren't familiar with any of those.

  • Got one in Black today Thanks OP !!!

  • Would love to ask if anyone has a code they would like to PM me?? :)

    • code?

    • +2

Enrol in uni and get one :)

      • I asked for a code not for suggestion ;)

  • Got in with a silver one and uni discount. Good price!

I don't want to say goodbye to my Nexus 4. However it is basically dead.

  • i used my uni code for the 10gb deal argh and cant transferred the discount. can someone kindly pm me a code?

  • thanks op, purchased with unidays discount

  • This is damn tempting. I might pop into an optus store tomorrow and see if the cable plan we have is eligible for a further $20 discount by bundling effectively making it a $45 plan ($20 saved on cable plan).

  • Would love a code to before i order pretty please :)

  • This deal ends on the 4/09/2016.

The new IPhone comes out or is being announced on the 7/09/2016 so will there be even better deals to push the S7 :P

    • +2

I dont know… this is already techincally around $30 off the cost of the plan each month… thats like $720 saving.

Paying $55/month, and factoring in a New S7 at ~$1100 outright, you're only going to be paying about $9/month for a 7gb/unlimited calls/text plan… which shits on Vaya etc's sim only plans.
Plus with free unmetered streaming for spotify etc… I doub't they'd get any better than this anytime soon..

      • The plan also receives the Optus Premier League package aswell! Un-metered Premier League on demand is a massive cherry on top of an already delicious sundae of a plan.

      • How did you get $55 per month? Isn't it $65 per month?

  • Does anyone have a code they want to gift me? :)

  • Anyone know if it's possible to upgrade to a S7 edge for a little extra?

    • +1

No unfortunately, I wanted the edge, Spoke to their chat team, was turned down

  • I just tried adding it to my cart and its still $85 with no mention of any discount, which is odd.

  • Went to optus store today but they refused to combine the %10 student discount with the $20 off even though I showed them it was possible online in my phone! Came back home and ordered online..

    • Yeah I had same issue in Optus Store, they would not provide my bundle discount even though I told them online people said they could.

    • I ordered in store and got the 10% student and $20 off, but my plan is still showing $85 per month on My Optus Account, is yours showing the same? They said they will credit the 10% discount and $20 off in the bill.

      • The plan will show full price but they charge you discounted price, that is what they told me online and in store

        • Thank you Gerrard!

  • Ridiculous. They only accept driver's license (not learner's permit) and passports as ID online.

  • So I'm really tempted by this deal. Just got back from Singapore and the Samsungs were everywhere and everytime I took a photo for a fellow tourist I marvelled at the picture quality compared to my archaic IPhone 5!

Now I'm no longer a student, but work at Monash Uni, and my sister IS a student there. Now how would I go about using here details to get the further 10% off?

    • +5

Roughly, get her to log into her Unidays account, if she scrolls through the deals there should be an optus promotion, click on that, it'll open a new tab to the optus page, you can then go through and buy the plan that way (it'll pre-fill the discount code at the checkout).

Alternatively, you get her to do all of the above, and when she clicks on the optus promotion and the new tab opens, close the new tab and go back to the unidays page and it should display a discount code. Then you can just enter that discount code when you do the purchase.

      • Cheers mate, worked like a charm. $56.50 over 24 months signed, sealed and to be delivered!

        • +1

Glad to hear it! Surely worth an upvote?

  • I've tried to order this plan through the student hub twice now, with the Unidays code as well, and both times after I've tried to complete the purchase, it just brings me up to a site that says 'An unexpected error has occurred'. Has anyone else had this issue? Can you still use the unidays code if you add it to the cart normally, instead of going through the student hub?

    • Exact same issue here, I selected to upgrade and encountered error message during the check-out process. Now it seems my promo code is consumed and no longer valid… Contacting Optus right now, but they aren't much of a help

      • Yeah, I did the same. They just kept transferring me from department to department. Just get onto the Unidays support, send them a message explaining what happened and they'll give you a new code just a few hours later.

  • Hi can anyone please pm me a unidays code, you will definitely be awarded with karma point.

  • Hi all,

Successfully submitted as per fattymattyd's instructions (thru Unidays student hub)

    Much appreciated.

  • thanks.. $56.5/month is a bargain

  • Deal has been extended till end of the month.

I received my phone but the seal was open, so Optus are sending me another one.

  • it appears that unidays do not have the optus promo code anymore.

    • +1

      go here: http://www.optus.com.au/student-hub?SID=con:postmob:student:…

enter your .edu email and get promo code, then at checkout it'll ask for your student email and promo code, enter those and you should get the 10% discount.

      • that link doesnt work even if i google through and get there - when i press SEND PROMO CODE nothing happens- any auggestions?

        • sorry, no idea. link works for me, and the process i mentioned worked for me too.

        • @fattymattyd: thanks for that. i went to the optus shop and confirm that the unidays offer has ended and they have this new offer, unfortunately their website is buggy and nothing happens when you click SEND PROMO CODE. i was told to try again in a few days.

        • @kev go westie: actually i have tried and the website is working now. if you have used for email for unidays, you can use it for this promo code again. and in fact, it works for all email with .edu, you dont have to be a student.

  • They are offering it with 8GB data now.

Earlier in the week they were doing the S7 Edge for $65 with 8GB data also :o

    • What's the link? I'm really keen on this.

  • Cheers OP. Just signed up today and got 8GB instead of the 7GB.

  • Thanks OP.
Deal still active till the end of month.
    Got one for my wife.

  • Yeah I got my phone is very nice and a great upgrade from my old phone.

I managed to get Optus to provide me with 8GB data also ^_^
