Optus $83/Mo for iPhone 6S 16GB (3.5GB Data/Unltd Talk&Text/150min Intl Talk/Unltd Music Streaming) + Apple Watch Sport

110

I'm not sure if this is a pricing error but it only applies if you select the iPhone 6S 16GB model. It works with any iPhone/Apple Watch colour variant (+$3 for 42mm Apple Watch).
(Side note: there is no price difference selecting the 64GB model v 128GB model, perhaps another pricing error)

  • Lowest plan offers 1GB data, unlimited talk & text, and unlimited music streaming for $95 per month | $40 plan + $55 devices ($37 phone and $18 watch)
  • Second-tier plan offers 3.5GB data, unlimited talk & text, 150min international talk, and unlimited music streaming for $83 per month | $65 plan + $18 devices ($0 phone and $18 watch)

All other iPhone models have a logical pricing scheme, e.g. $102 for 1GB, $109 for 3.5GB, $118 for 7GB. It seems the $83 plan wipes out the month handset fee.
The iPhone 6S Plus 16GB has a cheaper third-tier plan too (plus Premier League subscription included), but the device pricing is still logical (that is, decreasing in price).

ADDED: As undefined pointed out, you can get just the iPhone 6S 16GB on the $65 plan with $0 handset fee.

    16GB in 2016 should be a crime.

    • Not when everything I do on my phone (music, photos etc) is in the cloud.

      • Except using the phone's 4k ability for more than 20 mins all up…
        Or installing apps alone
        Not to mention just photos

      • you don't travel much, do you? Try going to areas with spotty coverage or countries where 100MB of data costs an arm and a leg and tell me everything's all good in the cloud.

honestly. This "everything of mine is in the cloud" excuse has got to go - starting with apple executive phil "head in the clouds" schiller.

2 weeks away from the next iPhone announcement and only 16GB of non-expandable storage make this a poor choice IMO

If you're a student you can currently get the 16gb iPhone SE for $36 a month with unlimited calls/texts and 1GB of data + unlimited music streaming.

Wouldnt be horrible when paired with google play music.. Still not ideal but quite a cheap deal!

    • I have been looking at this SE deal for the last couple of hours. One for me, one for my partner. Pair it with the $35 data only sim and with data pool you have 12GB data for $115 a month($57.50 each w/ 6GB data), however it would also get me $20 off a month off NBN bundled, effectively making it $47.50. Tempting.

    • Do you know how long it has been this price? It seems a really great deal for my teenager, cheap enough that she can pay for most of it herself. (And since I'm with Optus she can share my 7gb of data.)

It's odd that the 5S is the same price as the SE.

    • Can anyone provide a link to this deal?

The 64gb to 128gb is a free upgrade promotion. Also of note, if you just want the phone it is on the $65 plan with no device repayments without the watch. Means you pay $432 for the 38mm watch over 24 months or $504 for the 42mm with the bundle.

    • Good pick up, I'll add it to the description.

  • Can't buy…? Anyone having issues with the website?

  • Beware with this kind of offer from optus if it is too good to be true. Last time I signed up for an ipad air 2 with the offer of paying the same price for all model (the bigger the storage the more saving you'll get), so I went with the 128GB. And guess what, the offer've never applied. I had to keep calling their support center every few months to get the credits for those past months, each and everytime a CSA would promise the problem has been fixed, but it hasn't.

  • Both of these will be replaced in the next month or so

  • $83 per month for a 16GB phone? Doesn't matter what phone it is, I think this is a bloody massacre.
