Pretty old set of headphones but still very good.

  • +1

I have a set of these and they are way more comfortable and equal NC to the QC25's, especially if you prefer over ear design

    • +1

I beg to differ good sir, NC isn't nearly as good as QC25's but the sound quality makes up for it. Aren't very durable though, my ear-cup cushion is torn and I can't find replacements for those either which is a bummer cz I liked these as my daily drivers!

        ?

        • +3

          thanks mate, appreciate it :)

        • if you hop onto the audio technica site for Australia, you can look for licensed vendors where they can send or request certain parts for service. In terms of ear cups you might end up having to pay for them since wear and tear wouldn't IMO be covered by warranty…

      • +1

Exact same experience, but I found the cups and chose not to replace them ($60!). Got the QC35's instead and actually find them way more comfortable and better nc. Yes, but quite as good a range, but they are still good.

    • LOL

I guess you wish the NC were the equal of QC25s, but a sad case of extremely wishful thinking!

      • -8

qc25 is overrated. parrot zik is way better..

    • Negative ghost rider.

These are great but the NC is not up to Bose. If you're looking for a great value pair of cans with very good NC - these are the ones for you.

      • I found the NC good enough and the audio and build quality far exceeded the Bose but that's just my personal experience, i LOVE the Audio Technica headphones. I actually met a group of audio engineers travelling to a conference who eagerly discussed the great qualities of the Audio Technica headphones who rolled their eyes when i mentioned Bose but that's a subjective opinion.

I would strongly recommend these headphones.

        • I agree with you - the NC isn't as good but the sound quality is better

It depends on what is more important to you

BOSE in this case have an excellent product with outstanding NC and good sound quality
Audio TEchnica are also an excellent product with great NC and very good sound quality

        • @flashi007:

Also as noted below i found these way more comfortable than the Bose. Also as noted below i have an enormous melon so YMMV.

The overall sound experience was superior to Bose for me - but hey i once bought a monster cable so……. (in my defence it was discounted to about 1/8'th of it's original price so i was only mildly ripped off)

      different model (ANC29 vs ANC9)

  • +1

good review on this pair of cans…cheapest ive ever seen!

  • Oops Sorry. Search fail. $225 at StoreDJ instead.

  • +13

If you want a further 10% off, use the code CRM0210. Brings the total to $134.55

    • Thanks for that, updated.

      • Code not working for me.

  • +1

nice one mate, might grab one for group 4

  • +2

At that price, why not. I love my Sony MDR-7506's but I've always wanted a noise cancelling set for plane travel - but could never really justify the cost.

Another week, another impulse Ozbargain purchase….

  • +1

I think Coop stopped refunding the memberships last year. They also put the fee up to $25.

    • +1

Yeah, can't cancel anymore. I tried to cancel when the first Ozbargain post came up, they first tell me "no problem, we'll get it sorted out for you" then later tell me can't cancel anymore…

  • LEGEND! Picked up 2 pairs :)

  • I purchased this brand (not these) of the bluetooth ones and had the replace and the first one stop working on one side. Also won a bunch of them myself and friends that's is via nestle the $100 pair of headphones and quite a few friends mentioned problems. Really don't trust the brand anymore. I am not saying don't buy them but definitely keep the receipt handy.

    • replace was meant to say replacement

    • I got a set of ath-anc7b's a few years ago, they developed a bad circuit after a few weeks, and I eventually sent them back to HK. The replacement set developed the same issue after a few weeks. Now I just put up with it, audio gets attenuated heaps to one ear or the other, tapping them or fiddling the switch normally helps.

As good as the sound is, I think I'd spend the extra ad get Bose next time.

  • these better or beats?

    • These, I have a pair only issue I had is there is a bit of sound leaking (I.e. Others can hear what your listening to) sound quality is great though.

      • +4

Sound leakage can be annoying, I don't want people to know that I secretly listen to Taylor Swift all the time ;)

        • so does kanye so it's cool fiddy.

        • must agree with you on that one! .. any Taylor swift song is my daughters and it accidentally got put on my play list… the sound quality though is easily one of the better headphones i've owned .. over all package wise i prefer my passive NC vModa headphones.

    • Gotta be b8

    • LOL beats..

  • I'm pretty sure that the co-op no longer offers refunds on memberships.

  • +1

    Don't forget cashreward

    • crap…saw ur post after purchase…is there anything i can do? or just cancel the order somehow??

  • Was gonna by the QC25s for an upcoming trip but at less than half the cost I think I might jump on this instead. Are the QC25's really $200 better? I'm guessing not.

    • +2

I'd put the qc25 nc at maybe 10% better tops, while sound reproduction of these is probably 10-15% better. When you do the maths, this is a definite winner at this price. I've had my pair for nearly 4 years, use each weekday. Still going strong, just need to replace earpads at 12-18 mths

  • +1

Note: OUT OF STOCK Usually dispatches in 10 to 20 business days EXPECTED ARRIVAL - 30 Sep 2016

  • Recently just purchased their Audio Technica bud versions (ATH-ANC23) and find the NC quite amazing and fairly comparable to the QC-20's for half the price. This would be a nice purchase if not that I already have a pair of Backbeat Pro's.

  • +1

Good deal for $134.55 that's for sure, bought a pair lets see if they get more stock in.

  • +2

I picked these up for $215 a couple of months ago, I thought they were a great budget bose option at that price, but for $135 they're a steal

  • Currently $119 + postage (about $19) from Scorptec for anyone who isn't a Co-op member

Edit: Scratch that. Apparently the travel or premium version at Scorptec are $229. The non-premium are $119. No idea what the difference is.

Edit #2: figured out the difference. There was a 2 I wasn't seeing. Completely different then. Ignore me. Go about your business. Nothing to see here.

  • +1

While the NC is not up to the QC25s, it's pretty damn good. They also sound really good. Better bang for buck than the QC25s, thanks to the law of deminishing returns. If you want the best of the best, go Bose - if don't mind not quite the best, but still excellent, and a lot cheaper, go Audio-Technica.

    • Anything is better bang for buck than Bose.

  • +1

Grabbed a pair. Who knows if we'll get them though!

  • +1

The QC25 will be better for long haul flights… you can wear it for 12-15 hours straight and your head will thank you. Can't say the same about the ATH's

    • +1

Having done literally hundreds of long haul flights i respectfully disagree - found the AT headphones very comfortable and the bose (as well as being massively expensive and flimsy) were uncomfortable after a few hours. I do have a very large head though.

      • Me as example can not suffer wearing the bose QC25 or QC35 for a long time. Yes, they are super comfortable at the beginning but soon or later the heat start to build up and I have to take them off otherwise my head will be overheated!

      • I have a large head also and was looking at some NC cans for a flight to Europe at the end of the year. Worth jumping on these? I have some AT M50s and they are great.

  • code doesnt work…is it a once only code? I'm trying to buy another pair…

  • Thank you OP, was looking for headphones around this price point! Sometimes when the stars align and you pray to the ozbargain gods these kinds of deals come up.

  • Decent headphones - I just find them a bit too uncomfortable for my liking, I have a pair but rarely bother taking them anymore in favour of IEM's.

  • was gonna buy one then realise im not a member :(

  • Are these Bluetooth ?

  • FYI picked up the Bose QC35 for $365 from myer if anyone wants to try and pricematch for a better product!

    • Was it on sale? i was looking at purchasing one.

      • Nah I just made friends with the sales rep and he honored the headphone trade in sale 15% (which was expired by a month and didnt require the old headphones) and gave me a bit more off :)

    • I tried jbhifi, Myer and Bose at Bondi junction, Myer in sydney cbd, and jb at World square but none of them would honour it. Has anyone had any success anywhere in Sydney?
P.s. don't try Myer in sydney cbd, he gets angry

  • $25 for membership aint gonna break the bank even for ozbargainers but is this site worthwhile ? Do they have regular deals?

  • +1

    https://www.mebank.com.au/lps/the-coop/the-co-op-home/your-$25/ ???

    • Hmm could be tempting seeing as 2% cashback on my ING account ends this month…

  • +1

    Deal + Membership + 10% off, use the code CRM0210, + Cash Rewards = about 147.00. Noice!

    • Ahhh didn't realize there was cashrewards. I should hand in my ozbargain card.

  • If you are thinking of registering as a new member, get the $25 voucher, use the voucher to buy this device, then don't. Because the voucher ships when you register a new ME BANK ETA account with coop, that will be about a week away. I also made the mistake of using CRM0210 code for the new membership only ($25) and found that the code (as well as SHOPNOW) is available once only, hence cannot be applied again on this earphone.

    • ME Bank ETA Account is only the dual membership.

      Get the standard $25 membership

      • Standard $25 memebership does not contain $25 gift voucher.

    • +3

You can actually get the membership in the same "shopping cart" when you buy the headphones, therefore applying the discount to the combined total of both.

      • thanks for this tip. :)

  • Looks like back to normal price?

    • Yup 50% off no longer applies to product. They only giv u $50 off now with membership

  • Mine apparently just got shipped, despite saying it wouldn't ship til late September when I ordered.
    Stoked!

    • Mine is still "Partially Disatched" - because I bought membership as well?

      Order Date: 2 September 2016

      Order Status: Partially Dispatched

edit: when CoOp ship, did they send you an email?

      • Yeah got a shipping email from the co-op in Gold Coast with a tracking number.

        • +1

          Woo got my shipping email

        • @mhs m0nk3y: Nice! Looks like mine has been picked up, should come tomorrow.

  • mine still says processing…should I start getting worried?!

  • I just got a shipping email

  • +1

Mine came today, I love them! I was looking at getting some QC25s for a trip to Europe at the end of the year.
I compared them directly against my co-workers QC25s and they are slightly worse in the noise-cancelling department but there's no way that I'd the extra for the Bose just for that. The sound quality is great too, not overly bassy and muddy like the QC25s. Comparable to my M50s, but not as good, maybe after burn-in they will compare closer, who knows.

Thanks OP, you saved me at least $100.

  • Mine came today… they kind of looked like the packet had already been opened.

    Anyone else had this also?

    Cheers,
    Jake

  • Still pending :(

  • Mine came today, package was in perfect condition so don't know whats going on with the damaged package someone else mentioned.

So I've borrowed a mates QC25's for a trip in the past and did not like the sound at all (sounded heaps better through my amp though but no good for traveling) so went back to canalphones for other trips which actually work quite well for isolation but I'm a headphones man.

Haven't tested the NC properly but the I'm extremely impressed with the SQ, far better than I was expecting and for $134.55!
I don't usually like AT's sound but I'm stoked with this purchase and I assume they will only get better with burn in.

  • Got mine today!

  • Got mine last week. Anyone else have issues with the battery compartment not closing flush? It needs a good hard push to click place, but still sticks out a few mm.
