.MX Top Level Domain Registration (US $60/~AU $80 for 10 Years) @ Akky.mx

Akky, a subsidiary of NIC.mx are offering a very cheap .MX top level domain registration.

I have tested this, and it indeed works (whois tusker.mx).

You can register a shorter period too if you don't want to shell out $60, but obviously the per year price will not be as good (http://promociones.akky.mx/en/)

If you host a mailserver, having a short hostname <company>.mx is shorter than mx.<company>.com.au!

Why would one want a short host name for a mail server?

  • If you host a mailserver, having a short hostname <company>.mx is shorter than mx.<company>.com.au!

I'd think users would be more likely to remember mail.company.com.au than mx. "Mx, what's that about, any connection with my?" You like your DNS jargon too much.

    • Interestingly MX actually stands for Mail Exchange, the DNS entry for the mail servers…

      • Yes and it's a type of DNS record rather than a reserved name. Any name can be a MX. Not to forget the priority field too.

      • mx.mx was not available either

        • "No MX record found for mx.mx." :(
