1st-time poster, Saw this deal @ Sweetas Eastland and not sure about other stores, there are also several other chocolates on sale with great price but near best before date

NOTE: the best before date for this lindt block is 30 August 2016, but someone told me that chocolate could last really long if you stored it properly.

    The legality lies within the wording.
    Best Before is OK
    Use By is not OK

    As Best before means its still safe to eat but may not taste as intended.

    Where as Use By means its unsafe to eat e.g may give you food poisoning.

    it is best before not used by date, and according to foodstandards.gov.au "Most foods have a best before date. You can still eat foods for a while after the best before date as they should be safe but they may have lost some quality. Foods that have a best before date can legally be sold after that date provided the food is fit for human consumption."

  Thanks. Can confirm that it's at most Sweet As stores I've seen. But I've been getting these since a few months ago, before the Used By Date.
