Kuala Lumpur Return ex Perth $149 @ Air Asia

710

Incredible price, and a whole $40 cheaper than this deal last month. There's plenty of seats available at this price for travel from Feb through to Oct 2017. All flights are direct at around 5 hours 30 mins duration each way. And here's a screenshot. Enjoy :)

      How so?

      • +2

Its a part of the same promotion from feb to oct 2017. Cheers

        • All the flights in your post are for departure from KL. I can see nothing departing and returning to Perth.

        • +1

No should be zappy32, your promo was free seats, zappy32 was first on "The smartest way to travel" promo which has this Perth pricing so this is a dupe.

          @dandandan:

          which has this Perth pricing

Sorry, where are you seeing this return fare?

        • @dandandan: I still can't see a $149 return fare in your link. All I see is a $99 one way fare.

          @tightarse:

It's a point to point carrier so put in your destinations, I couldn't really care less however if you are going to hijack someone else's deal at least credit them! https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/264346

        • @dandandan: Not in the habit of hijacking anyone else's deals. In case you haven't noticed, I always give credit where it's due. But thanks all the same for the concern :)

        • @dandandan:

Thanks for the comment. In reality I only posted East coast deals as they are only this price once every six months or so. From Perth this price is usually every 2 months or so, I posted just last week for $13 more in upcoming busy season but it's not really a huge saving.

If OP wanted to add the extra deals which make this a bargain(eg. from East Coast or from KUL onwards) to a lot of users it would probably help a lot of people but it's not in OZB rules to do so.

        • Not a duplicate. Duplicate Guidelines

AirAsia Mega Sale MEL/SYD/OOL to KUL $252 Return Feb - Oct 2017

No mention of Perth in the title or description. No mention of the $149 deal. Thus not a duplicate.

P.S. We don't need 14 comments arguing about a duplicate. Just use the report link and let the moderators handle it. Let's focus on the deal. Thanks.

        • @dandandan: I agree here, it is all part of the same promo. However, given the rules it is technically not a duplicate, which TA is aware of. Furthermore, given it is part of the sale, credit should be given (cmon, it's unethical to claim it as your own). It is disappointing to see a member such as TA not do this.

        • @tightarse: Can you elaborate? These seem like deals where the posters have found them without assistance? There isn't credit given as it's their own deal?

I hate budget airline pricing. Yeh, $149… Then add $39 each way for checked luggage, $10 - $20 booking/transaction fee, $10 to choose a seat, $5 for a meal and it all adds up. Premium airlines > budget any day of the week.

    • +20

There are no added booking transaction fees on this deal. As someone who doesn't travel with luggage, doesn't choose a seat and doesn't pay for a a meal on such flights it's great for me. Probably helps that I'm 5'8" and don't have any issues with comfort and don't really care where they put me on the plane. The no luggage is an SE Asia thing. That's shirts and shorts weather. I can have five of each and socks and jocks and a laptop in a single smallish backpack (this one) although these days I don't bother with the laptop very often.

Why would anyone get the in flight meal? Eat cheap before you leave or when you get there. Not eating for 6 hours isn't difficult and the food you get at either end is going to be massively better.

It makes the whole experience much more relaxing too, I find. You don't have to think about your luggage and worry about it getting opened up by customs or someone trying to smuggle something or lost. Don't have to wait for it. Packing is a breeze, you can do it last minute at both ends.

Man, I had no intention of going to KL using this deal but you've kind of talked me into it. I'd be an idiot not to go!

      • -8

Not everyone can travel light or not have food for x hours (medical conditions). And yes, there are fees on the deal, I went to the end of the transaction and they want $20 to pay with card, not everyone has Paypal etc etc. $20, what a joke.

        • +1

You are just making excuses mate. If you so badly need food during a 6hr flight then take a ham and cheese roll with you. Everything Tantry said is spot on and exactly how I travel. Travelling with carry on has so many advantages and trains you to only take what you really need to Asia. Need vs Want.. These days I laugh at all the fools looking frustrated waiting for their bags at the carousel while I scoot straight past them and into my uber.

        • +2

which medical conditions do you mean where people cant not have a meal for 5 hours?

        • +1

@Kapinny: um..metabolic syndrome?? are you some kind of doctor?

        • -1

          @aromatase:

yeah mate im a witch doctor

        • @Bullion78:

So would you recommend uber for Kuala Lumpur?

Do they pick up at the terminal?

        • @movieman: from airport the bus is best value, they leave regularly and only cost 11rm. Around town i use a combination of skytrain, uber and grabcar. Enjoy your trip

        • +1

@movieman: uber is insanely cheap in kl , i had a 1.5 hour ride (stuck in traffic) and it cost me aud $10.. but be careful, if taxi drivers see that ur getting picked up by an uber they'll abuse you. get in there as quick as you can.

however i would recommend taxi from the airport, if you go to the counter they ll set the price for you depending on location and you pay at counter, no haggling.

        • Thought I saw somewhere u couldn't take on food ?

        • @kza2610:

Thanks!! Will be arriving in the am, so might try uber. Or bus.

        • @movieman: i recommend the bus, if you are staying close to the drop off points. it was cheap (RM18 IIRC) and spacious seats and leg room with a table (i sat the skybus to 1U).

        • @Psychd: just don't be too obvious about it. no one really checks, especially on the KL side, but i have brought sandwiches on board from Melbourne > KL for the last few trips. The KL airport has a maccas (and a bunch of other recognisable food chains), so i usually eat something there before i fly. i've seen aussies openly eating cheeseburgers in the plane, even before taxiing.

    • airplane food is horrid, what seat you sit is is irrelevant, and many non-budget airlines also has booking fees

  • +5

KL is a surprisingly good, fun and affordable holiday destination.
Great food, great shopping, and relatively clean and safe.
I was impressed when I went and recommend it to my friends.

    • Im just wondering though, if you went to New York. Would you still say it is surprisingly good? I mean the way you say surprising as if you did not really put much hope in the first place.

      • +3

Having been to both NYC and KL, I can say that KL is a good, fun, and very affordable holiday destination.

        • I have visited Washington DC, LA, Las Vegas, London, Paris, Athens, Rome, Auckland, Cape Town, Hong Kong, Vienna plus a few others (not NYC yet though).
          I stand by my comment.
And you are correct, when I first booked my trip I wasn't expecting that much. It surprised me with how good it was.

This is part of the Megasale, clearly a duplicate post, including the prev post for sale fare from KL

  • Used grab app for taxi. Taxi from airport to kl. Much quicker. Stayed in the most amazing cheap air bnb accommodation and looking forward to going back there again :)

    • mind sharing the airbnb link? I'm looking for accom for next year and have previously always stayed in hotels.

  • Just had a look and the price has gone up a little since our stay. $84 a night now but well worth it.

    • And they have a roof top bar as well but take byo esky with your own alcohol ;)

    • stayed in the same complex but different room via airbnb last year …. nice building and facilities at very cheap pricing but everything in KL is pretty cheap
