Very nice SB. Great find :)

  • Can anyone comment on the merits of entertainment book around Melbourne?

    • +4

Worth it. There's enough restaurants in it that if you use it a few times a year you get your money's worth.

  • +2

    (from $60 - $65)

I guess you didnt look at the price of Sydney and Surrounds

    • damn I feel for you guys, Melb and Sydney I'd assume would be similar, but you guys getting charged for $70. At least it is for a good cause (assuming the actual website also donates some funds to charities?

      • 20% of what you pay

      • Too much admin costs absorb the money from the target individuals. The 'charity' itself has it's own admin, then entertainment book also takes some of that money too, the desired individuals that were supposed to get the benefit get such a small percentage.

    • +1

I glanced, but cheers for the spot :)

  • Damn missed out!

    • what do you mean? the offer is still going

      • Yep, I paid for it recently (before this offer)

      • Bought the father's day promo…. I think this one is better

  • Sweet - got one, thanks op. My little brother is always busting this out on his phone and I kept forgetting to order one.

  • Thanks OP

  • Are Melbourne Zoo and skydeck in the book this year?

    • +3

you can search the website for participants and offers before you buy

    • +2

The search functionality on their website is decent now.

    • +6

      no zoo. yes skydeck.

  • what best to use the iTunes Gift Card?

    • +8

Use it to pay for Netflix :)

      • +3

Use it to pay for Netflix :)

AFAIK, you can't do that on an existing account being billed directly through Netflix?

        • I'm not 100% sure of the ins and outs

        • +5

cancel current subscription, wait til day after your account expires, sign in through apple device using old log in details, set payment via itunes.

        • @odrocs1987:

Cheers mate, although I don't have any apple devices…can I just create an itunes account and do it that way somehow?

        • You'll need an iOS device to get the actual app first. If you make an account, just log in on a friends device and set it up there.

        • +2

          @pifts:

Thanks mate, but think it's easier to just give the itunes voucher away to my sister lol!

      • +1

I paid Netflix with Brazil Account, I think its cheaper

wondering if we can pay any other subscription with iTunes?

havent paid any cents yet for Toddler Apps, got it all free from OZB :)

  • If it's digital, why do I need to wait for delivery (not the iTunes card)?

    • +1

Because emails take time to send.

      Also apparently this condition:

Entertainment™ Digital Memberships (and iTunes Gift Cards) will be dispatched after the sale ends, on the 15th of September. Please allow a further 3-7 business days to receive your order.

      • That's what I mean. Why is a digital membership being "dispatched".

        • +3

Easier to send emails in bulk and verify the sales than to send them out instantly?

          shrug

        • It's the iTunes cards that are dispatched after the sale ends

        • @lovepeoplenotmoney:

No it's not. Both aren't dispactes untill the sale ends.

        • @PainToad:

Incorrect…. I ordered mine and my digital membership got active straight away. I am now only waiting on my iTunes card.

        • @batrarobin:
Did you get a gold card number? Can you log into your account?

        • +2

          @Beast:

He's right. Click forgot password and away you go.

        • @PainToad:
          Thank you. That worked.

        • Thanks guys - using the "forgot your password" worked for me too :)

        • @PainToad: Didn't work for me. I tried "forgot password", but just received an email from Entertainment Book for the password reset, No gold card number. Followed thru to reset password and still no gold card number. How did you get yours? Via email?

        • +1

          @almonds65:
No you don't get a gold card number. Just reset your password to anything you like. Then just log in with that password.

Once you do log in, you can see your Gold Card number here:

  • Why does it say in the headline text, "MEMBER-ONLY OFFER: ENTERTAINMENT™ DIGITAL MEMBERSHIP + $30 ITUNES GIFT CARD"?

    • Because we're naughty naughty.

Edit: Got a feeling this is going to backfire. Not meant to be public accessible. Crap.

    • You're a member the moment you give them money for this package? =)

    • I guess my concern would be that the offer is meant for Members purchasing a secondary book, but there is no mention of having to be a Member in the T&Cs above.

      Just food for thought!

    • Email was sent to an account which doesn't have an active subscription. It's the email I used for the free digital membership we got last year, to try to entice people to sign up again.

I repeat, this promotion hasn't been emailed to a current subscriber, it's to entice people to return

      • Thanks for clarifying SB.

      • Got the same email couple of hours ago. Been looking to renew my digital membership but been too busy !!
This will entice a lot of people waiting to renew. Although I have no use of iTunes, it'll be nice gift.

      • Good to know! Thanks.

I think I unsubscribed from their mailing list due to the number of emails I was receiving from them.

        • They do send way too many emails to people who don't have a membership.

      • Bummer!

Well our sub had run out and got an email last week asing to resign for the book or new digital version.

The "Renewal button" certainly didn't take us to this free iTunes bonus.

  • Thanks OP, I'd been meaning to renew for a while, so great to get this bonus

  • how come it says
Valid for purchases until 11:59pm AEST, Monday 12 September 2016.
but the cards are not despatched until 15th????

    • +1

You buy the digital book before 12 Sept and the cards get dispatched on 15 Sept

  • +2

Just purchased. Thanks very much. Love me the OzBargain.

  • +4

    So existing customers get shafted?!

I just renewed in Aug. Ugh.

    Grumpy.

  • +5

I bought a digital membership only last week, but haven't used it yet. Just called them up and cancelled my membership over the phone and got my money back. I'll resubmit in a couple of days once the credits definitely back on my credit card, and buy another membership to get the $30 iTunes card this time :) Thanks OP!

I hadn't used any deals yet, but according to their website terms that doesn't matter, they have a 60 day return policy:

The Entertainment™ Return policy and guarantee – if for any reason you are not satisfied with your Entertainment™ Membership, you may return the unused Book to our office, within 60 days of purchase, or for the Entertainment™ Digital Membership contact our office for a full refund. A proof of purchase is required.

    • +2

Just got my refund credited and repurchased, just got the confirmation email. Thanks for the Netflix subscription credit 😜

    • +2

Thanks for this info! I was thinking if they would honour a cancellation because I too bought the digital membership 5 days ago! After I saw your post, I called my local branch to cancel- they weren't too happy about it, but said will waive it out of goodwill/gesture this time. Looking to buy membership again for that $30 iTunes card!! Cheers!

  • Nice! Buying it

  • i'm guessing the charities won't get their cut since this needs to be purchased directly from the Entertainment Book website.

  • Had the trial membership from last time and found it of little use. Maybe if they had the Coles Group gift cards at 5% off it would be more of a deal.

  • Can you access the same digital account from more than one device or is the account tied to a particular phone number?

    • +1

Had no problems sharing but I think only one person logged on at one time

    • +1

Last year it was limited to 2 devices, which I personally think is a bit restrictive. A family could easily have 2 parents + 2 or 3 children old enough to have smartphones. And in this case the children would not be able to use the digital membership, whereas they could tear out a voucher from the physical book and use it.

Just checked, looks like it's the same this year - from http://www.entertainmentbook.com.au/DigiFAQ - "How to share offers? The Entertainment™ Digital Membership can be shared with family members in your household on up to two different devices, but only one device can actively redeem offers at any one time."

    • +1

Two devices ok (like Mrs and Yours), but only one can be active at any time… only a small pain in the bum to activate one and deactivate the other, but can be done.

      • -1

Did you mean signing out instead of deactivating?

        • +2

No, I mean actual deactivating of the app (I didnt neg u btw).

You actually have to turn one app off and reactivate the other phone, and this online tracking thingy sends whatever signal back to Entertainment Book to tell them which phone has the active version operating.

        • @UFO:
Thanks, this seems contrary to their FAQ answer provided by nickj

Digital Membership can be shared with family members in your household on up to two different devices, but only one device can actively redeem offers at any one time."

It implies that the app could be activated on two devices but only one could be used to redeem offers at any one time.

Are there no limits on how often you can (de)activate?

  • Just bought it. Thanks!

  • +1

Oh shit bought this 2 weeks ago

  • +4

IIf you count the $30 iTunes card and the $30 chemist warehouse vouchers ($10 each off $50 spend), it's a fantastic deal!
It would've been better if existing members could buy it for $50 with the iTunes deal 😏

    • I have only 1 chemist warehouse $10 off voucher on my EB. How do you have 3 of them??

      • Hmm that sounds dicey! Here is a pic of my digital copy vouchers
        http://imgur.com/NaJt9c5

        • Thand. I have only one :( I have a Perth edition. Will that make a difference?

        • +1

@ozzyoi: Me too, my Perth editions both book and digital have only one

        • +1

@ozzyoi: oh no! That doesn't sound very fair

        • @DaWeizOne: yeah true.

  • +2

Remind me why I should have renewed my subscription through a fundraising organisation?

    • Potentially to help others spread their religion in a constructive way

    • To support unethical marketing

  • What are the main things you get from the entertainment book that aren't available through OzB?

    • +1

Restaurant discounts. Fast-food to family restaurants in the suburbs to fancy restaurants in CBD.

Whether it is worth it or not depends on the city and your eating-out habits in my opinion.

      • +2

Also hotel deals… If you book a month in advance, you get 50% off the rack rate at some of the hotels!

    • Download the app and browse through the coupons

  • Server broken 500 error :(

    • +2

      I want to believe

    • Bought one just now.

      • still broken :(

  • +1

Has anyone tried buying a secondary membership (which is cheaper) then combining it with this offer? I already have a Canberra membership and want to get an additional discounted Sydney membership along with the iTunes card. Thanks!

  • +1

Cheers OP - managed to find a code on their site (ent2016rfs) to reduce two adult extended return tickets to Rotto from $170 to $140 (bloody expensive ferry tickets!), saving $30 already :)

Just hope we get our Digital Gold Card number before we go in a few weeks, as "Voucher must be surrendered at check-in" (or have people already got their number and registered?).

    • My understanding is you purchased a digital membership
Once you download the app/ log in
      if you click on "user"
There is a link that has your digital good card number

      • Once you download the app/ log in

But in order to log in, I have to register first right?

…which requires the Digital Gold Card number?

        https://www.entertainmentbook.com.au/My-Account/Activate

        • Yes. I guess you have to wait until your card arrives in the mail.

        • @Beast:

Actually, a mate just got an email reply from the Entertainment Book:

As per the T&Cs your digital membership will be activated after the sale ends on the 12th of September. Your Digital Gold Card number will be automatically registered to your email and we will send you your login details on that date

        • @kirt:
          arrh okay

        • @kirt:

Sounds like you'll get it before you go to Rotto.

Kinda early in the year for Rotto though isn't it? Or you going during school hols?

        • +2

          @Spackbace:

Kinda early in the year for Rotto though isn't it?

Yeah - it's more of a quick getaway between major projects at work (we got a super cheap deal on a South Thompson unit too), plus Rottofest is on that weekend, so might check that out too:

          http://www.rottofest.com.au/

Edit: Just found a code (ROTTOFESTEX16) to get the tickets for even less - $118 - so won't need my Digital Gold Card for that trip after all :)
