    So much better than TomTom

What make this app better than TomTom?

read below. thats why its better

Great price. Good product that works the same as the stand alone devices. Nice clean interface with spoken street names and speed camera warnings. TomTom app drops signal all the time and is slow. Once locked on this never loses the signal and is fast. Just read the reviews on the app store. $49 is a bargain

Don't forget there's 20% off all iTunes cards at JB right now: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/26334

Seems like a good deal considering I've still got about $40 of credit left from the previous Big W iTunes card offers and could just make up the rest with JB's 20% off

Definitely not gonna happen, but it'd suck heaps if Apple announced some kickass free GPS app at WWDC after buying this though :P

  • Full price is actually $69. They did this a few weeks ago.
    Still a good price though..

    • It's $99. It's $69 when on special but 5 days ago it was $99. See here for details:http://appshopper.com/navigation/mobilenavigator-australia (Note this is the US pricing but it reflects the price changes that Aus store gets too).

  • Does anyone know if this app will work on an iPad? Will be very happy to use a GPS app on a 10" screen… (Still can't justify paying $600+ for the iPad though)

    • -2

I don't think it will since the ipad doesn't have a built in GPS.

        • Thanks guys, never knew only the 3G ipad gets GPS. Apple is so sneaky sometimes. In this case, I'll make sure I am getting the 3G version of the iPad when I do get one ;)

          • @Chinotto: It clearly states 3G + GPS in the specs all over their website, or just WiFi only.

It's not like they've made a big deal about the GPS receiver anyway.

  • Apple's website says the only 3G iPad has GPS: http://www.apple.com/ipad/specs/

  • Anyone know if I can use this on the new iphone when it comes out if I buy it on my 3gs? Will it transfer over for free?

    • 95% chance that this won't be a problem at all.. Purchases are linked to your itunes account, so if you use the same account the purchase will keep.

  • How much do map updates cost?

    • No idea… But I'd also like to know.

  • Can you use this app (or any other GPS app) without needing an internet connection on your iphone? Thanks.

    • I can assure u that u dont need internet connection and it doesnt use data. so r tomtom and sygic's. i have all three. none of them r flawless but all work quite well.

  • it doesn't use the net on the phone it uses the inbuilt gps receiver. It will transfer to your new iphone providing you use the same itunes account.

  • this app is great, I have it on my jb iPhone, I gave my new TomTom to the missus after using this for a few days

  • I tested this one out on my Android phone with their 14 day trial and it works ok. No spoken street names though and I would not pay $99.99 for it when you can get a proper GPS unit for the same price or a little more.

  • +1

    iPhone version has street names

  • All the iphone navigation apps are crap because their maps are old.

    • I do wonder if they will supply free mapping updates though without charging extra for them…

      • Do you know how much the updates cost?

        • I don't they have sold a map update yet..

  • i haven't found a single bad route on mine yet, used it in rural NSW, Sydney and Brisbane.

  • I purchased it today. From the small tests that I have put it through it is very impressive. Sygic is okay but Navigon beats it hands down.

  • damn looks like this is back to $89….
