  • Does adding these at both ends affect signal?

HDMI is digital yet despite this it is certainly possible for these adapters to create issues if you are pushing the limits. I have some wallplates which for all intents and purposes are the same thing - straight-through couplers. Once I introduced these I had issues with deep-colour mode on my PS3, I had to change it down to 24 bit colour, which was disappointing.

Can you see the difference between a 90deg converter a 360 deg converter? The second one is way more useful.

technically yes…but in practice, most people will probably only need one direction.

and if they're only $1, you could buy adapters in two directions and be covered for two different use cases, as well as having TWO adapters, which could also be more flexible and useful for some people.

so really, whichever suits you better.

edit: i just looked at the link above, and noticed it was not swivelling. so would need 4 of those to cover 4 potential directions.

That's right, Think about vertical ports on the left or right of tv, ones that sit horizontally on the back, some that face down. The one here will work for ALL scenarios. I tried to buy 10 of them, could only get 2 from my local store.

        • @BlinkyBill:

yes, but i think you're missing the point: one can buy the direction they need for $1, and if they need to change direction for some reason (unlikely), they can buy a second one for the new direction, and still have the old one they can still use for something else.

sure, if you're moving things around a lot, or plugging in different directions, then 360 is more flexible. but i would humbly suggest for most people, a single fixed direction is going to be fine.

personally, i'd rather have two adapters that swivel in one direction (horizontal and vertical), rather than either of the above options. that means i can cover all 4 major directions, and have TWO adapters I can use at the same time. but YMMV (which is exactly my point). :)

no one option is "better" than the other, it depends on your usage. chose what sort of flexibility suits you best!

btw, you can get them for $1.85 here, if you don't want to click and collect and don't mind waiting for it to come from china:

plus, buy 2 and get 2nd one at 5% off! (2 for $3.60AUD)

(but $2 seems to be a good price if you don't want to wait, and happy to click and collect)

They're $1.70 on the GG eBay store with CHILL15 (C&C)

      • even better! should be added to the deal.

      • Thanks, I couldn't get that to work, updated.

$25 for 25 with coupon! Then you have an articulated ~1m cable.

    • 1m HDMI cable for $25?

      • Well it is a (frankenstein's) monster of a cable… be glad its not >$100

  • is there a point in doing cash rewards? isn't the time spent not worth the savings?

    • +2

And the months waiting for the cash to reach your account.

      • So you get like 3 percent of $1.70 which is less than 5c and u wait months for it…. the cashrewards why bother OP?
