Sydney to London is $1,660 on the dates I tried (22 September - 23rd November). I wouldn't call that a bargain, but it may help other people.

    • +1

Flights are generally expensive if you are looking at booking closer to the travel date. I changed the date of departure to the 29th of September and the price comes down to ~$1200.

Tried some dates in October mid week from Melbourne to Rome cheapest was $1556 not a great price.

    • +10

A month out and you don't find $1556 cheap? I don't think your expectations align with reality.

      • I purchased a ticket to Rome in May this year only 3 weeks beforehand for $999…seen it still hovering around that price for a few weeks

        • Which airline? Abu Dhabi is such a good stopover location into some European countries

    • +3

What dates did you actually try? Did you try entering the code? I put some rough dates in (October 10 - October 30) and it comes to ~$1000

      • +1

I tried the same dates as above for two adults and a child came to $3100 return.
So my apologies to the op.
Will change my vote. Been a long day.

Edit: noticed that you can see the discounted rates now. NP

  • Nooooo. I booked tickets on Bestjet for Etihad in October a few hours before this post. Can anyone suggest anything I can do? Wouldve saved me over $300 :(:(

Nice deal. Was just about to book a Qatar flight to Europe before seeing your post. Have now booked on Etihad and saved $300+.
Also, they don't charge a credit card fee which is a bonus.

  • Traveling in December :-(

  • Why are the baggage fees so extortionate? Economy only allows 1 bag at 23kg. If you want what most other carriers allow adding on baggage is an hundreds! I was excited as I'm moving to London and found one way for around $600 but adding extra baggage brings it up to $900.

    • I moved to London earlier this year. Despite my employer promising to reimburse any excess baggage fees, I found the best/cheapest way was to send your belongings over was by courier/post/sea/etc than excess baggage fees.

      • Really? What did you send over and how much did it cost? I also like how you're still on ozbargain

Fly with an airline that has 30kg as standard. Also I have called up the airline before and explained I was moving overseas and have had 10kg added on for free.

      • Yeah there's none that are this cheap though in economy. Was this with Etihad?

    • It depends on the ticket class, economy saver allows 23kg, economy classic or flexi allows 2 bags of 23kg each, obviously for a higher price, try the classic option it might be cheaper than paying for excess 23kg baggage.

      • The difference between classic and flexi was $300 which is crazy for an additional bag. Classic gives you the option of refund but thats all.

Worth noting this code seems to work from overseas Etihad sites too (just choose the country at the top-right of the website or choose a departure from a non-AU port).

For example, find yourself a cheap fare or points fare to Bangkok, then use this code to enjoy Etihad business class (and enough Velocity status points to get you straight to Virgin Gold), for 60400THB to Amsterdam return, or roughly $2300.

Or get yourself to Tokyo in mid-November, and fly to Geneva return in Business class, including a leg on a Dreamliner for 115000Yen, or about $1500.

    • Nice find tdth99. Sydney to Madrid, Frankfurt or Geneva via Tokyo is coming up around $2350 in mid October, with Tokyo<->Madrid in business class.

  • seems to include fares when you leave on or before 23rd November.
Did dummy run for depart MELto CDG Paris on 22nd Nov Return on 29th Business and would have saved $2226 so fare worked out at AU$5499.06.
Tried it again returning later in December and message said promo had expired

Thanks to above poster That BKK to AMS fare is great especially if combined with Jetstar or Royal Brunei fare. Good thinking.

  • any codes for emirate?

  • Perth to NYC for $1,125 on some dates.

    • -3

      NYC is shit

  • does that mean you have to return before November 18th?

  • I usually visit my home country every two years or so. The cheapest return flight to Skopje (Etihad operated by Air Serbia, Qatar or Emirates) would usually be ~$1600 and one way $850. If you are lucky and find the flights on promotion they would be return$200/one way $100 cheaper. Nearby airports such as Belgrade and Thessaloniki would have the same pricing. However a few weeks ago I found some extremely cheap flights with Etihad to/from Istanbul. Return flights where $800 (cheaper than one way) of which $450 are airport taxes. If you are from the Balkans you can find a 30 euro bus ticket to most destinations, or if you don't have check-in baggage, you can reach your destination with Pegasus. Wizz Air don't operate in Turkey.
The way I came up with these cheap flights is by using Google's search engine google.com/flights/ or you can google for "ITA MATRIX" to get the best possible prices on flights. I would strongly recommend searching with google flights for you next flight, however if the price is not changing for a coupe of days, make sure you do it before Tuesday. In my experience airline companies readjust their prices on Tuesdays.

    • With Qatar, my brother-in-law was quoted $1,300 inc. taxes return to Zagreb (1 stop in Doha - 2-hour wait), departing in two weeks… Some great deals now to Europe, and the weather is still nice.

      • +1

That's a great price! On holidays in Greece and i can confirm the weather is fantastic

    • You do remember Istanbul airport being attacked right… I would dearly love to visit Turkey but not right now :(

  • I tried the economy coupon and I got this

"We were unable to apply the promotional discount.
Search criteria does not qualify for the discount or the promotion code is incorrect/expired.
You can continue to book using our standard fares."

My flight is to Germany and returning from a different country. Is that why it wouldn't work?

Is there any coupons for Qatar Airways?

    • Same here. Flying to one euro country and out of another. Was working a few days ago and now when I come to book it it doesn't work. Wtf

  • Not working for me either.

Promo is meant to expire tomorrow - 19th September.

  • I called them and it might be because you're flying into a city with one of their code share partners. Multicity only works on direct Etihad flights. Hope that helps!

  • I have booked a 2 week flight - Melbourne to Bangalore return for $1820. A pity this code was not valid for the date range. But in any case, I had booked before I saw this.
