Looks like the wind-force OC is also $999 and thats not promotional offer so hopefully we'll see the cards come down to around $800ish by christmas time

Good price for local stock, but if you don't mind importing and have a credit card with no currency conversion fee it's cheaper on Amazon US.
Or for even cheaper you can get the EVGA GTX 1080 SC from Amazon US which has higher clock speeds.

Yeah thought people were getting them for near $850 shipped or something via Amazon with international warranty. An extra $150 for local, no thanks.

Yep, based on what I've read EVGA have an awesome global warranty. They even state clearly on their packaging that if there are any issues to contact them first rather than the retailer.

        • AU Newegg even has 3 different EVGA GTX 1080s for between $850 and just over $900.

  • Tempting but still needs to come dowm more for me to buy.

  • Tough buy when you can save significantly buying on Amazon.

    • this is the summary of shopping in australia overall.

    • Well it won't last too long. Gov't proposing changes to make places like Amazon charge a 10% GST on top. If Amazon refuse, they may be blacklisted by ISP's by law.

Will be interesting to see what happens, but certainly not good for the consumer.

il wait for the gtx1080 ti

    • Keep in mind that it's going to be >$1k so you'll be paying import tax on top. Also rumour has it that it'll have the slower GDDR5 instead of the GDDR5X in the 1080.
