What's the shipping cost to Sydney.

    • click on the "calculate freight" button

  • $192 to ship to WA.

  • very tempting.

    • +3

Yes i am agree with you, how about you buy those 3D TV in batch and subsidised the R&D cost so that we can buy it cheaply next year. as for now, the best value one is the one that is soon to be redundant (which i dont care anyway).

I am giving you all my vote!

A google of 3d tv damage scares the $&@" out of me. I will not be getting any of the current 3d technology.

    • +1

Just bought a plasma for 1/2 the price of the equivalent 3d TV. Thought about paying the extra, but didnt as:
      1) the technology is new and as such is subject to improvements in a short space of time (just look at the iphone)
      2) wearing the glasses to watch TV is a pain and with children it would mean buying more glasses and having them broken.
      3) the 3d Blurays are expensive and not readily available
Will wait and buy one in a few years when the tech is more advanced (and the kids are older)

  • Nice deal. So how do you get the Ozbargain coupon for the additional $100 off.

  • Just ordered. $75.69 delivery to Brisbane.

Why buy the old model when you can have the new model for less? Quick search on google shows DigitalCentre has PS50C6500 with 5 year warranty for $1687. Also includes bonus Bluray Home Theatre System.

Not sure you'll get a 5 year warranty for less than $200. So this makes the new model cheaper.

true, why pay $1489 for a 2009 model when you can get a 2010 model for less?!
I was gonna get the PS50C6500 too, but decided to get the C7000 (3D model) instead! can't wait to get the TV!! LOL

    • exactly

    • +1

you cant compare the PS50C6500 with the PS50B850 , the 850 is much better.

Think Audiovisual http://www.thinkaudiovisual.com.au/ has it for $1499 with free delivery (including free set-up for Melb customers). Not sure about the Home Theatre redemption though as they don't seem to have a physical store, just an office in the city. I am seriously considering getting one, awesome picture quality but the reviews all say it makes an annoying buzzing noise…still undecided.

    • The site suggests you can get the redemption

  • Even better one person got 58" PS58C6500 at Myer for $2200.
    http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies-archive.cfm/143…

  • yep, that was me. But to date, no delivery. They said earliest would be 3 July, so I upgraded to PS58C7000. Ended up paying $2399 for the TV and $399 for additional 4 years warranty.

Myers Sydney CBD - expected delivery date 25 June

    • Just wondering what was the original date that you bought 58” PS58C6500?

so I upgraded to PS58C7000. Ended up paying $2399 for the TV

Is that regular price or special?

      • around 3 weeks ago.

I had to haggle like crazy for that price

  • Before buying plasma vs LCD check out difference on a full white screen. My Plasma can only manage a dull blue/grey instead of white. When i googled, it came back this is normal for Plasma. Also Samsung has the contrast and some of the other picture settings up to 95 and 100% for a normal picture. No room to move if you want to adjust them.

    • Hey imp,

For your model of plasma perhaps, you are not generalising are you?
As we have many plasmas in our wider family, have no issues with white at all…
This is on a lower contrast as well…not sure why you have an issue, it sucks for sure!

      what do you have??

      • New Samsung ps50c550.
I hope it is not true for all, but when I was searching it came up as an issue on other sets for other people. One of the articles I read said the issue is for Plasma's being able to display large amounts of 'white'. The less 'white' on screen, the more white it appears.
I suppose it is for everyone to check out for themselves. The picture on our set is fantastic with Avatar etc on blueray, just notice the white problem mainly on ads etc when they have a white background.
Just wanted to warn others to make sure they test a set out before they buy.

        edit: check this forum: http://www.dtvforum.info/lofiversion/index.php/t87730.html

        • I have the same TV - PS50C550. I can't say I have noticed the "greyish whites" you have seen, though I haven't been looking for it either and scenes to highlight such a problem do not regularly arise (though I can think of one scene in teh Matrix that I might check out).

However, on the flip side and a determining factor for my purchase for me were the grey blacks on LCD and LED TV's in the same price range as the PC50C550. They were notably less black in the many scenes that have large amounts of darkness. I think (correct me if incorrect) that this is a known strength of plasma, along with better representation of fast action scenes (which was also pretty clear in many scenes, though the dark scene scenario is far more prevelant).

A more disconcerting issue for me is the reported buzzing sounds from B series Samsung plasmas, which also exists in C series plasmas but is apparently not as prevelant. This buzz is much louder than the normal plasma buzz (every plasma makes a buzzing sound - this is my 4th plasma) and can be clearly heard 5 metres away.

My current PS50C550 buzzes and is being replaced with a new set tomorrow morning. Hopefully no buzzing!

AS for this set - a great price for a feature packed unit!

          • @Weshy: so are you actually satisfied with your PS50C550? I am planning to buy one tomorrow? if not can you please suggest any other plasma in this range?

            • +1

              @Dave1: Dave

I'm very satisfied with the PS50C550, save for the noise that it seems most people can not hear or are not bothered with (of the 10-15 people who have come over, I've mentioned the buzzing to maybe 5 of them and only 1 has said it was excessive. Everyone else either did not notice or was not bothered by it).

Picture quality wise, it's fantastic (I think best at it's price range and better than many priced above it). It has a simple elegance to its design. The USB movie/music (haven't tested the picture functionality) has worked very well, with only a handful of the many mkv's, avi's, etc. not working.

It really shines when it is viewed in a room without too much direct/ambient light, but is still very good when there is light present. My set is next to a large sliding door that always has the curtain up in the mornings - reflections and picture quality have not been a problem (again PQ is not as good as when in the dark, but still good).

oh and it handles non HD material very well.

              • @Weshy: Thanks a lot Weshy,

I went to few stores today but no one has stock at the moment? Myer is quoting $1350 if I buy extended warranty but their warranty is really exp. can you or anyone suggest any other good price or is this the best I can get?

  • I just picked up my PS58C7000 from Harvey Norman Chadstone for 3k with extended 4 year warranty :) Could've haggled more, but I'm more than happy with that price. Last I checked they were getting 48 units in and 45 were already allocated. TV is beautiful with a great picture and 3D to boot. All set for World Cup.

  • +1

I have not got my TV yet and my experience with EXeltek has not been satisfactory so far.
I paid for the TV on Monday through Bpay and they told me I could pick it up on Wednesday after they cleared my payment. Today I called them and they told me they received my payment but they didn't have the TV in store for me to pick up while on their website it's advertised that the TV was in stock. They told me the ETA would be tomorrow but I don't know whether I can trust them anymore. Just hope I will get it before the world cup begins on Friday.

    • TV is in stock, but we just don't have enough floor space to house every single unit at our premise, especially with bulk deal like this where we have to take 100 units in one go.
You should be able to pick up the TV before World cup begins.
We've been advised the confirmation that the TV for pick-up customers have left the warehouse. You will not be disappointed :)

  • How do I use the ozbargain coupon for the additonal $100 off?

  • Hey guys, anyone has received there PS50B850?

mine has bad buzzing sound coming from it…and just got it yesterday… whats the best scenario to get it fixed?

any help would be great…ill have to ring exeltek about this now :(

  • Got my Samsung 3D LED TV for 2800 at Myer.

Got some prices off the we and went to DSE, DJs and Myer to see if they'd price match

DSE said they would. But the prices should be from a dealer who has a shop front and they should be within close proximity to the store I went to.. sigh!

DJs said pretty much the same thing and added further conditions… That they would verify the store by calling if the deal was real!… GIVE ME A BREAK

Finally went to Myer… Totally different experience…
The sales guy, though he was super busy, was very courteous, and was willing to nogotiate without saying too much about and pre conditions. He knew I was serious about buying a unit and the deal was closed and I left the store within 30 mins with the TV and 3D starter Kit (2 Glasses + Monsters Vs Aliens DVD)!

Just posted my BD disk player redemption documents to Samsung.

The TV is absolutely stunning. Amazing Picture quality. I love the feature to play content via external store, ability to record, Ytube, skype etc etc…..
    And its so thin!!

  • Mine has a buzzzzzzz too. What about everyone else? What to do?

    • Not on mine though…..

I guess its related to the Plasma models?

Call the shop where you bought it from and complain…

  • Yeah a little buzzing sound. Only notice it when its muted =p

  • I'm maybe being stupid but where do you get the OzBargain discount code from? I can't see it anywhere?
