CODE15

I was browsing ebay for any good GTX 1060 or RX 480 deals and there are heaps. Shopping express seems to have the best deals. The CODE15 deal on ebay has brought the new GTX 1060 cards in price. The Strix cards are usually really expensive but $407 including postage is pretty reasonable.

  • wow great finds!
surely hella good deal, but i would prefer the rx 480 for future proofing, as the rx 480 had the same amount of performance with 1070 on dx12 games not dx11, there might not be much games that support dx 12 this year but in the upcoming year i think all the new triple a title game is going to support dx12

    • In my opinion I'd buy the card for today's games and the 1060 is a much better choice than the RX 480 for that reason. By the time DX12 or Vulkan become well established there will be much better cards available.

      • "Much" better? Maybe. GFX card progress is slower than it used to be. More pricey? Certainly.

        • -1

yep, and even if they make a new gpus in the upcoming years the price would might be the twice of rx 480 and only 10-15% performace boost

    • The Saphire Nitro RX480 8GB is also $407.15 from gamedudecomputers: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SAPPHIRE-Nitro-Radeon-RX480-8GB-V…

  • These are awesome deals, though makes the choice between the Rx 480 and the Gtx 1060 a harder, any thoughts(I want a card that'll do me good for about four years)?
And how long will these deals or this code should I say be available for?

    • It's hard to say, but if i was in it for the long haul, I'd lean more towards the 480. AMD generally has longer support for their cards which might be very important if games start implementing fully supported dx12 and vulkan. Before i bought the 1070 my r9 280x's (4-5 year old card now) were still getting the latest driver updates whereas nvidia tends to focus on driver updates for the current gen.

But then again, most games seem to run better on the 1060 atm. So maybe just buy that and be happy with it for another 2-3 years (which i think is best for most people) and upgrade if you feel like it's lacking

    • I'd go RX 480 to be more future proof. If you decide to upgrade to a 4k setup at some point, you can just throw in a second RX 480, which should be a lot cheaper by then. Looking at some 4k benchmarks the other day, seems like crossfired RX 480s beat the GTX 1080 in most games.

      • I usually find that when you feel the need to upgrade it is simpler and cheaper and get better performance by just buying the latest mid-range card rather than mucking around with crossfire or SLI.
