  • Product name in title? "HD Media Hub"

    • My apologies, fixed.

its always a worry about codec support , can it play basic things like .mp4 and H.265

also does it ignore cinavia protection

    • +1

With H.265 on mine, I only get audio, so I use software to convert to .mp4 which plays perfectly. Cinavia is not an issue, and my download links are from a variety of websites.

Careful, your posts are confusing container formats (avi/mp4/mkv) with codecs (e.g. mpeg2,h264,h254).

I suspect you reencoded h265 as h264 video.

It was .mkv with H.265 and I used DVDFab 9 to convert it to .mp4 which worked flawlessly. I suppose you are correct that it also re-encoded the H.264 to H.265.

Word on the street is that the Kaiser Baas media players suck.

Worth it to spend a bit more and get a better brand.

    • I'm using one of these since a couple of years now and quite satisfied. I haven't found any video formats it doesn't play.

    • +1

I think most of their products suck. Bluetooth keyboard and mouse I bought weren't worth using most of the time.

    • I had one and it was constantly freezing mid video

    • I tried this one from OW a while back. Took the first one back because it was frozen at the boot screen, then took the second one back for the same reason… Did not try for a 3rd.

    • Please recommend some, providing they play H.265. I won't be networking or streaming, just downloading files to play.

  • I bought the smart media player ages ago and it sucked, wifi was horrible.

  • Only 3 months warranty.

  • No networking, so not a general-purpose device. You'd want to have a specific purpose in mind.

Why on earth would you buy this over a Raspberry Pi with Kodi?
