  • So not global version?

  • +7

Good post OP :) Now just waiting for the "doesn't have band 28" and "gearbest should be banned" comments.

    • Haha true that's why I added in the post.

      • big fan of the paying in AUD that gb now have.

do everbuying plan on doing the same anytime soon? would be great.

    • Yes the band 28 bores will be along soon.

  • +3

Wouldn't this Global Version be a better deal then?

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/263289

    • +1

      yes

    • +2

If I had my time again though, I would go for the non B28/global version.

Finding sellers who sell cases and screen protectors specifically for the global version is insanely difficult.

      • Why?

        • +1

like Polde said finding accessories for the band 28 version is difficult.

the b28 version is lightly longer in so they dont fit in the vast majority of cases/screen protectors found online

        • +1

@imtahir7: For cheap protection until something better comes along you could try the TPU thin skins (0.3mm thick) for the Redmi Note 2.

The B28 version of the RN3 is the same dimensions except for being 0.3mm thicker, it would most likely fit then you'd only need to cut a hole for the fingerprint sensor.

        • @4wd:

this is the best case I've managed to purchase and fit (but still not 100% snug).

any user review for Bluedio M2 Wireless Bluetooth ?

    • +1

I had one for the past month. Good battery life. Sturdy, doesn't feel cheap. Good in ear fittings. Ok audio, not the best but good enough for just general use. I bought mine off an Australian eBay seller for $17. Got it in 2 days. I would pay the extra few dollars to get it in a couple of days.

  • I also need a review for Huawei = )

I picked up the Pistons about 18 months back when everyone on OzBargain raved about them.
The stock Apple buds I've got produced not only a better sound, they had a better ear fit and more importantly the micrphone was VASTLY superior at noise (wind) reduction etc when walking.

The only advantage is that the Xioamiamiamai whatever they are, the volume buttons worked fine under Android, unlike the stock Apple buds (which I use on my Android phone) (They also had pretty nice packaging for a Chinese product)

I would gladly pay the $20 again for a wired earbud, possibly even without volume support if the god damn thing just had a real good microphone, reasonable (not great) sound and decent cable strength (not that super ultra thin rubbish which is 'cool' cause it's lite but it breaks on first phone drop)

    • +1

Considering you can't spell the brand I'm curious what model your review is referring to? As you can see this is the Basic edition which is reflected in the price. A lot of other issues are highly subjective (e.g. comfort, sound) and there have been some decent reviews of the Piston 2, 3 and Hybrid's which is why they have such a strong following. Of course there's personal preference and the stock Apple buds may very well suit you..

      • +2

well stock apple earbuds might be slightly better than the cheapest xiaomi pistons - only problem is that they are $45 compared to xiaomi traditionally under $7.

Cant speak to the mic quality but the xiaomi hybrids for $20 odd DO give vastly superior audio quality than anything in that price range.

        • I bought these from Banggood I think for about the same price a few weeks ago, I think they are amazing for essentially the price of a large coffee… Can't fault the sound or mic, these just have the single button for play/pause and answer calls (not volume up/down).

As someone who is prone to losing/damaging earbuds, I have bought a lot of crappy cheap earbuds over the years and these are in a different class to anything else i've seen at that pricepoint.

Not really prepared to shell out the best part of $50 for Apple pods everytime I stand on my earbuds or my dog chews up the cord or I leave them on the train…

I will be buying a backup pair for sure.

        • @Devil Dog Eyes: If I paid less than $8 AUD for mine, I'd be happy. I paid at least 20 I think.

Personally I'd rather pay $20 and get something where people don't find it unpleasant to talk to me due to background noise, sound of mic rubbing on shirt, sound of wind going past, etc.

        • @hamwhisperer: Fair call, at $20 I think most people would (and should) look elsewhere. If these were in fact priced at $20 on this post your opinion (and neg vote) would be more than valid. However they are $5.33 on this post and as you yourself said if you paid less than $8 you would be happy… So buy these and be happy :)

        • @Devil Dog Eyes: These things get way way too much hype on this site and they need to be knocked down a peg. Just because the usual suspects of cheap Chinese resellers hit OzBargain a lot and ship to Australia, doesn't mean it's a good product.

Someone should go track down some actual decent headphones instead and post them, even if it's not banggood, gearbest, shopping express or one of the small handful of people we seem to get here.

        • @hamwhisperer: I'm not really too fussed about the seller or the product origin as long as it arrives. I own this product and for the price advertised here I consider it a bargain. Simple as that, we shall agree to disagree…

      • -2

I can clearly spell the bloody brand if I go and double check it, it's not a common english name, if it was "Hamburger" I'd be able to spell it, don't be ridiculous.

These are what I have, about 18 months old. https://www.google.com.au/search?q=xiomi+piston&hl=en&tbm=is… V2 or 3 or some such, a whole heap of enthusiastic circle jjjjjjj … fans of this product ranted and raved about them here on OzBargain, as usual people vigorously defending their money spent.

I have a genuine set, they were one of the more expensive fancy ones 'marked down' to only $20? $25? with shipping. Check my post history, I'm sure you'll find the exact thread.

The microphone on them is god.damned.apallaing compared to the Apple ones, it picks up EVERY noise, the Apple one, somehow picks up my voice and extreme wind, using the Xhiooaihniosnoinoinami ones (screw spelling it) while outside walking down to the shops is a nightmare.

    • -2

Man some real whiny weener is downvoting this because they are defensive about their purchase.
I'm an ACTUAL OWNER of this product and it isn't good, maybe for cheap strong headphones but when used with the mic (headset) no, it's a bad product, stop your crying and deal with it.

  • $222 for the intl version at geekbuying?
    http://www.geekbuying.com/item/Xiaomi-Redmi-Note-3-Pro-5-5-I…

    • The Geekbuying one above will give you band28 for telstra 4gx network.
But it will not be shipped immediately as it is a presale.
Very good price for the grey colour for USD$167.
Pay extra for the express DHL shipping if you are unwilling to wait for 2-3 weeks free shipping.

  • Thanks Monty.
