i think the new 1080ti is coming, we will see alot more price drop on the 1080,1070 and 1060 since the 1080ti will be taking over the 1080 release price

    • +4

No we won't. Almost no one buys Ti cards compared to lower tier cards.

      • +4

Are you serious? The Ti is going to be "Big Pascal" on a consumer GPU - the current 1070 and 1080 series are only "Little Pascal". "Big Pascal" offers a host of improvements - more CUDA cores, memory bandwidth and 25% more transistors, which translates into much better gaming performance.

My prediction is that the 1080Ti will be the first consumer card that will be able to play games at 4K 60FPS+.

        • +1

yeah but it will probably cost $500 on top of the 1080

        • $800 USD though

        • I was hoping the 1080 could do 4K 60FPS with pretty much everything but ended up getting a 1070 and just going with 1080p on my 4K tv because it couldn't.

I am thinking we may be waiting for the 1180ti for 4K to be the norm like how 1070 and above have no problems on a 1440p/144hz monitor when originally that is what everyone bought their 980ti's for.

        • Being a great card doesn't make it a great seller, bang for your buck cards sell much better. 970 was extremely popular last generation despite 980, 980 Ti and a Titan being faster for NVIDIA, plus the AMD cards too.

        • +1

More likely they will drop the 1080 to $600-700 and bring in the Ti at the price we currently pay for the 1080. They did so with the last two Ti models, I don't see why it would change this time.

      • I know quite a few people that bought and used GTX 660 Tis as their primary card for a few years. The improvement is enough to warrant a purchase over a later years series for some people as it offers some 'future-proofing'.

    • +1

Why are you getting downvoted? This pattern has been correct for the previous generations of video cards.

      • +2

Current owners of 1080 are feeling bad now so they are clicking that red button. But lasolaso is probably right, even Digital Foundry mentioned that the Ti could be round the corner in their Forza Horizon 3 video.

        • +1

From a business point of view what benefit is there of releasing the 1080Ti this far away from AMDs launch, i mean the 1080 is the the fastest gpu on the market (excluding the titan) so nvidia will really only be competing with itself which seems counter intuitive

        • @GossipGoat:
The Ti series has always been within 3 to 4 months release of the Titan. For what reason? I don't know.

    • +2

Nah, 1080Ti will likely be next year. Also the xx80Ti tends to be similar $/fps to the 1070 so it doesn't affect the value proposition. It makes the xx80 a bad value choice, but it won't affect the prices of either card that much. This is a good deal and will remain so after the 1080Ti is out.

      • look what happen to gtx 780 and gtx 980 when their Ti cards arrive, price dropped instantly as soon as it happened, and affected the price of 70series aswell

i definitely not the only one realises this

  • When compared to the GTX 980 Ti which was selling for over $1000 in Australia, the GTX 1070 is a bargain around the 600 mark. Like Diji said, I doubt it would affect the price of the 1070's much at all, maybe a bit on the 1080's but bang for buck these 1070's are great value.

    • so does the 780tu when it releases, it have the same performance as gtx 970 and the 970 price are way more cheaper and it gets cheaper once the Ti release

  • +1

Its a bit misleading when you use google to convert currency.

I put it in the cart and it racks up to $573 AUD incl shipping

    • use 28 deg card to pay in USD = no fees

      • +1

        Yup should have mentioned this

        • +4

28 Deg = Unspoken known workaround

Its like saying - "Japanese eneloops at 1/2 price are a good buy"

        • @blehgg: GossipGoat might not have known. only been a member for a month.

        • @havok44:

should be initiation (include hazing) for new members :)

      • +1

With this I'm finally convinced to get a 28 Deg card.

I do like that 'OzBargain' is in the 'How did you hear about us' list.

        • Instead of 28 Deg (they are sneaking in more and more fees) get a Bankwest Zero Platinum.

    • i use coles loading credit card. .. NO sign up fee.. No credit check, no annual fee, just a credit card you load up with your own money and use for overseas purchases without any FEE's of any kind.. just as good if not better then 28 Deg card because with that you need to get approved for it.

No international transaction fee's ends at the start of next year.. but they may continue it.. we'll see

      • There is a 28 degree debit card with no international fees like the credit card though.

        • or citibank plus transaction account debit card.
With coles loading credit card, do you get the protection?

  • Have this exact card (paid just over $600 via Newegg). Very happy with it- runs quiet, looks great and most importantly runs anything I throw at it.

    • When I try to purchase via new egg they add a $7.90 vat/gst/duty ?
      Did this happen to you?

      • Just checked on my invoice and there's no mention of any tax.

Not sure what the go it there. $7.90 isn't too bad though.

  • +2

Can't wait to buy a gow4 cd key for cheap.

  • are you able to play gow4 on xbox with this version?

    • Yep, XBox and PC

  • There are cheaper GTX1070s in Amazon. Can the experts here comment why this is the pick of the bunch? Thanks.

    • +2

The other cheaper one is Asus and it is a reference card. The aftermarket coolers are better and the saving of $3 USD isn't worth it

I'm not a fan of the Mini-ITX versions unless you absolutely need that size. Would be compromises, usually clocked a little lower and wouldn't overclock as well

      EVGA global warranty

      • EVGA global warranty

Looking to buy this card, I assume you just deal with EVGA directly if the card arrived DoA?

The cooler on this is decent?

        • +1

          Amazon and then probably EVGA
Yep it's one of the best

        • +1

Amazon for 30 days I think and from there its EVGA

        • You two rock! Im picking one up tonight then!

        • @liljohnny19: Who did you pick?

  • How do people find ordering from overseas though?

I know about 5% of cards are defective, which doesnt seem that big a chance but some how I have had 2 Defective cards in the last 10 years!

Sounds like a great deal though, tempting….

    • +2

Amazon has better service than most local places imo. Go forth and buy. Don't forget my referral if you do :P
Haven't heard of any DOA's. EVGA also has exceptional support - probably the best out of the makers

    • +1

Mine had a coil whine (ftw edition) and just got it replaced. Now I just need to send back the faulty one. No hassles at all from Amazon.

    • +1

Amazon have 30 day no questions asked returns and they will pay shipping, you just print a label and drop it off.

It's actually longer than 30 days actually because they calculate it from the last ETA day or something and Amazon usually ship very fast, often before the first ETA date. You can contact their support chat who will tell you the last day you can return something.

  • +3

Just ordered one… My partner is gonna kill me

    • +3

I ordered one last week from the last deal, have yet to tell my partner yet… XD

  • EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 Black Edition a little bit cheaper on there too, 6 left.

    • Noticed it drop to $399.99. Just pulled the trigger :) Was going to get the Black anyway

      • Decisions, decisions! I'm a newb and just saw the drop so thought I'd mention. Debating the purchase at the moment, or if I just hold off until I get a better television/new monitor. Argh. Why can't we just be made of money, too many Eneloops purchases.

        • -2

Just buy it. With My referral. Yes. DO IT

        • @cyrax83:
Doesn't let me use you as a referral. Keep saying once per account. Does it mean I've used it before? Is it multiple usage?

      • Still that price now?
        showing 445USD here

        • Get the $409.99 one now, change the style. Will work out ~$450

        • yeah was tring to find he 399 price… guess its gone up.

Any idea what the difference is with the black edition ?

        • @RedFoxAU:

Just cosmetic, black heatsink rather than silver

        • +1

          @RedFoxAU:

and no backplate on the Black Edition.

  • Get it!

  • Updated OP

  • +1

Thanks, purchased and referral coded you.

    xxx

    • Thank you!

  • couldn't resist, must now explain to wife.

  • Thanks, purchased. I have a very understanding fiance :)

    • +1

lucky, my finance is not :)

  • I'm about seconds away from buying this, should I grab the 3 year PC Protection or will Australian Consumer Law be fine if anything goes wrong? I probably have no idea what I'm talking about, I just need to know if I'll be fine with/without it.

Also, cheers OP for this amazing deal

    • +3

Dear god don't get the Amazon extra warranty mate
      EVGA provides 3 years warranty

    • Also don't pay for a warranty period for low cost items …

  • +1

thanks OP - clicked on your referral link

    • Thanks mate

  • ugh ordered the 1080 SC EVGA weeks ago

so i miss out on gears sigh ……

  • I'd buy a unwanted gow4 key for $22

  • Finally bit the bullet and got one. Was originally hoping to get the Asus STRIX for the fan connectors but oh well

  • +1

Does amazon still give out codes? Apparently they are no long a retail partner for the promotion.

  • yep 7950 is due for replacement - bought

  • Thanks for this mate, purchased and clicked your link.

My most expensive single PC component purchase, but this is worth it!

    • Thank you! Well worth it

  • I'm still running a GTX 760 ! Is there any Nvidia card around worth upgrading to?

  • Woo-hoo!!

EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 SC GAMING ACX 3.0 Black Edition, 8GB GDDR5, LED, DX12 OSD Support
    $399.99 - In Stock

    • Yep just be aware the black has no baseplate. Doesn't make much of a difference and mostly cosmetic, but yeah if you want it go for the SC still

      • Ok cool, i dont really care about that…. case is closed (with small window) anyway. Cheers

  • Black edition back in stock for 399.99 6 left + more coming message.

Just bought one to replace Gigabyte OC windforce 2 that I returned.

    • +1

The Gigabyte has slightly higher (unnoticeable) factory overclock.

It may have higher potential overclocking potential although you may not realise that for your particular card. It may also be noisier due to 3x smaller fans vs 2x larger fans.

On the other hand you may get a better card with the EVGA in terms of overclocking anyhow.

EVGA also has 3 year international warranty - not something worth paying for IMO but nonetheless it's something the Gigabyte doesn't share.

  • +1

FYI - Amazon had all their GOW4 codes revoked and are no longer a partcipating retailer in the nvidia promotion.

I didnt receive a code/key and am basically being told tough luck by amazon/nvidia…havnt heard back from EVGA yet.

    Super dodgy!

    • I'd be kicking up a stink and partial refund from Amazon

      • They dont seem to care or acknowledge the promotion even existed.

No one who purchased a 1070 in this deal is getting a DOW4 key.

        • +2

Finally after jumping through many hurdles and hoops, convinced Amazon to refund me $61 USD for the GOW code being AWOL

Seems as though Nvidia pulled all the codes from Amazon on September 26th or 27th because of some debacle about Amazon giving out free codes before the products had shipped and people cancelling the orders and keeping the codes

I contacted Nvidia but they were useless

        • @cyrax83:

How they are basically ignoring me and pretending the promotion never existed.

Chat, email or phone? What team did you speak to?

        • +2

          @noise36:

So I just got a good will refund of AUD ~$86 since theyre not giving out copies of GoW 4. In the end its better I didnt want gears of war 4 anyway! What a Bargain!

I chat supported originally - They mentioned they would get back to me with a code, a day later got an email with there marketing dept, claiming they dont know anything about the promo and requested more info. I sent them back nvidia website link, EVGA website link and news articles on how amazon have revoked codes.

A day later they gave me a refund.

        • @liljohnny19:

Awesome, thanks for sharing your experience. I would be over the moon with a partial refund. I had already tried chat but they just pointed me to the NVIDIA website, I will try again following your footsteps.

Edit: Not having much luck, very stubborn Amazon support crew manning the online chat.

        • @cyrax83:

I did the same. Was probably an hour of my time in total but I got it. I had no luck with chat so just rang them over skype. 30 minute phone call!

        • @liljohnny19: is there an official statement on the nvidia or evga site that states Amazon was removed as a participating seller, if so I can't find it or did you just link the promotion page?

  • So I am assuming you can not go via the GOW redemption link listed in the deal to register for a key?

  • +1

Outside of gaming, can this be used in a different way like something more productive?

    • +1

      1) 3-D rendering, animation, video editing/transcoding. AutoCAD and 3-D/CGI animation apps like POV-Ray and Maya can be quite demanding on a GPU (if you want to get work done in a timely manner). Likewise, there are some high-end cards that have hardware (h.264 and the ilk) decoding, thus taking a great deal of stress off of the CPU when converting large video files.

      2) Display demands. Running multiple high-res displays could place video memory demands on a system which could only be addressed by high-end cards. (i.e. very few mid-priced GPU’s have 8GB or more of VRAM)

      3) Bitcoin mining/protein folding/high-performance computing. Highly paralleled applications, (where operations or iterations are conducted in the millions or billions), are often best run on GPU’s…and powerful ones at that. In fact, there are high-end GPU’s (like nVidia’s “Tesla” series) dedicated to just such propositions.

      4) Virtual reality. Even outside the gaming milieu, there are those who want to construct, experience, or re-create three dimensional views, perhaps as a landscape for a flight simulator, or as an accurate rendering of a potential building complex to propose to a client. These users would also benefit from a powerful GPU.

      Source

      • Bitcoin mining hasn't been profitable on GPUs for a long time

        • Well that source comment was from 2014, so it fits.
