DJI Mavic Pro Pre-Order AU $1,642.90 ($56.10 off) + Shipping @ Cameras Direct

130

$56.10 is a small amount off for this $1700 quadcopter, but if you are in the market then why not?

Just announced competitor to the GoPro Karma, the Mavic looks to blow it out of the water with way better specs.
This is only for pre-order with deliveries for November, not sure when the deal goes for

Sooooooooo tempting, just gotta find a buyer for my Solo 3DR first haha

  • Good find OP. Still, it's only $1k USD so I suspect there'll be more wiggle room in the weeks to come?

    $999US and here ???? $1650???? WTF?????

    • +1

Yep i'll be waiting to get mine via other sources. What's with the massive price hike. We don't live that far from the rest of the world!

    • Comparing with other countries prices and AU is the highest price.

  • the 1699 starting price is a good price but damn, that should cost ~1450 aud with GST if US price is any indication, Aus pricing sucks at times!

    • +6

*Aus pricing sucks at all times.

      Fixed that for you. :)

It is $999 for the stock drone, from the DJI web store and they ship to Australia for free.
At the current conversion on xe.com that is only $1303.41AUD.
Sooo, maybe not the best deal to pay $1642.90??

I'm just saying, unless I missed something on the DJI store.

    • add import tax to that as its over the $1000 limit

      • sorry dji website says they absorb all customs taxes
i saw it in the last post which was removed

      • +1

        it's still around 1450, that's around 250 difference duh!

    • +2

No you can't purchase at $999 to ship to AU - it all looks great (actually shows AU$999 inc GST) until you go to pay and it reverts to $1699 (inc shipping and GST).

  • personally, Phantom 4 has only a few advantages over Mavic Pro. P4 should be more stable in stronger winds and seems to have slightly better image quality although they share the same sensor, however Mavic's portability beats the shit out of P4 :D

    • +1

Here's Casey's vlog comparing Mavic Pro and Phantom 4. Looks like the image quality is significantly different, Mavic Pro produces a softer image although that could be compensated post to an extent.

I think this price will come down in the next few months, certainly there will be ways of getting this cheaper. This really is an amazing product and will sell very well.

    • -1

They'll sell this for 1/2 half price in a year time when the newer model comes out.

  • +1

Way too expensive here compared to US prices, the bundle is over $2100 which is insane.
I guess using a forwarder will save you a few dollars.

  • $41.33 postage to regional NSW so only about $15 cheaper than Apple Store who have free delivery.
I've pre ordered through Apple because of their after sales service and because they are closer to me than other DJI suppliers.
They only take $1 deposit till it ships (November), and I can cancel at any time if I find a better deal.
How much deposit does Cameras Direct hold? or do you have to pay the lot up front?

  • cheaper to buy from DJI with 5% cashback from cash rewards

wait a few months for the 10% student discount to be applied to the mavic via dji.com (if you have access to a student email) + cash rewards should bring it down about $250.

Or just wait for a ebay 20% deal

Will see how long i can resist not buying this as i have to much invested in my P3P with all my accessories.. i was looking at upgrading next year.

Let's see if i cave in sooner. :D

    • Look forward to have another 15% or 20% off store wide from eBay before Christmas.

      • That's what I'll be waiting for. With the added bonus of getting an invoice for the full amount. Which means I can write even more of it off on tax (I work in video production). All up, I should be able to get the full "fly more" bundle for around $1600 out of pocket- maybe even less if the price drops. Just need to find some patience…

    • i dont have a drone yet.. i kickstarted one called Zano that turned into vapourware. Have been wanting one that wasnt as large as the phantoms etc. Mavic certainly looks the part but that price… 20% off would be nice but even more would be better, freight forwarding maybe the answer

  • Can this be used to auto-follow/track me if I was snowboarding down a mountain? The MAVIC PRO seems awesome… but yeh… might have to wait till I travel to the States for work.

    • it sure can.. theres 3/4 different follow me modes that do different things. I like the spotlight one which circles you as you are moving

  • I'll be in the US in a few weeks, is it worth buying a drone (P3 Advanced) whilst over there & bringing it back?

  • How legal are drons in Australia? Are there any regulations explaining where it can be used and where can't?

  • +1

Anyone found any ebay stores that will be selling this so I have it in mind for the 20% off sales?

    • Nope and I messaged both pc.byte and futu asking them to put a listing up for preorder but no dice. They have no incoming stock at this stage.

      • Do they normally sell DJI drones? I never knew them to.

        What about Kogan?

        • Kogan's not included in the sale. Recommend you look/ask around if you are keen.

        • +1

@turkz1: Yeah, I've been asking around today and they said they don't have them in stock but might in the future. Not sure if I should hold out and wait or risk not getting it in time for Christmas because there's no stock.

        • @YellowKnight: Tough call. Personally I would roll the dice as christmas is quite a long way away but depends how much you need it by then.

  • Looking for 1. Thanks for the post

  • Rise Above Custom Drone Solutions. Best place I could find selling it right now. With $100 store credit to use after.

  • I think these are super awesome dont get me wrong - Also totally like the best drone yet and if I could afford one I would definitely jump on the Mavic but….

There seems to be a heap of interest from people on OzB for a $1.5k drone and many seem pretty happy to just drop that cash to get one. What are you guys using the drones for to justify actually buying one? Are you all real estate agents and want to get good arial shots or property? Professional photographers/videographers? Do you just like making videos for fun? Do you just want a drone that you can take to the park and fly around for a bit of fun and taking videos is a bit of a bonus?
