Just saw this at the local Coles.
Cheap food to eat before, during and after the Grand Final. The weird thing is that it says it was $3.20 and they are giving 50% off = $1.50, logic tells me that the price should be $1.60, so save yourself another $ 0.10.

Anything between 50% and 74% off is usually printed on the ticket as 50% off.
Why is something more than 50% printed as 50%?
I'm not 100% sure but for large displays, "1/2 price" catches your attention more than "X% off", because the X% could be below 50. Maybe discounts above half price in supermarkets tend to have a very similar effect to discounts that are exactly 1/2 price.
