1% Finance Deal on New NISSAN Cars

153

My first post , NISSAN currently is offering 1% finance on all many new cars.

From my point of view, this is a good deal,

however, not the best deal, I was keeping an eye at Nissan at all times as I am hunting for a new 7 seater and the Pathfinder is one of my considerations .

REMINDER, Nissan jacked up the selling price to compensate the loss of the finance deal

FYI , just a couple of weeks ago, the 2WD Pathfinder was 39990 with $1000 EFTPOS card, now is 3000 dollars more.

Well they excluded all the cars i was interested in

    • +6

Absolutely, I too was after a GT-R, and my backup option was a 4x2 Navara :(

    • +1

No doubt you lost interest from here: Excludes GT-R…

    • Damn it and I was going to Brodgen all GTRs and flog them off eBay.

  • -2

I shall buy that gtr nismo

  • No Nissan appeals to me at the moment. $43k for a 2wd pathfinder…

  • balloon payment

Yep… 3 years of not paying too much and then you have to cough up all or else no car and no money.

    • No, you can just get finance for the balloon payment at the end from somewhere else. Also, the car is not necessarily only worth the value of the balloon payment at the end of the term.

  • Any toyota deals?

        No prado deals?

    • +1

Im currently on Toyota 0% from a Camry promotion earlier in the year. Its true 0% finance with my monthly payments exactly 1/48th of the purchase price (4 years).

  • +10

I don't see how this is a good deal if they put the price up by 10% in your example.

    • +10

It's a good deal for them.

    • Exactly. Low finance car deals are not deals, they always bump the price.

You are always better getting a loan elsewhere and paying as much as you can cash.

  • Nissan have never gotten over their reputation from 'DATSUN' days. Recently heard someone disgusted with brake problems with near new Nissan Pathfinder which Nissan blamed in a Chinese OEM. They got dragged further under when joining an alliance with Renault.

  • With a 55% balloon payment. Well I guess it's a ok deal for 3 years and then you get a personal loan for the balloon payment.

  • Soooo quick question, i did google search this question but didn't find the answer :(.

The comparison rate is the nominal interest rate rate plus any foreseeable fees and charges associated with the loan which is essentially the same as the annual percentage rate (APR), is this correct? Because as far as I'm aware by law the APR has to include any foreseeable fees of the loan, if this is correct then l comparison rate and annual percentage rate are essentially interchangeable. If so, I wonder why the names are different if they mean the same thing?

Secondly, the comparison rate is still not the effective annual rate (EAR). Is this correct?

Apologies for the finance question. first year/semester student and just learnt all this.

    • The comparison rate is calculated with a specific set of circumstances as I recall, so it is not equal to the interest rate (except in very few circumstances) as it can also vary depending on amount borrowed as then fees take up a smaller/greater proportion of cost

To each his own… but i would consider a Toyota SUV rather than a Nissan.. For starters, the Toyotas are more reliable and hold better value. Nissans are rife with problems, one of them being the GPS maps not being updated. please search for these.

Nissan financial services are not helpful at all. Try ringing them and you will know what i am talking about.

I would say no deal. Could have bought an x-trail 2wd Auto for $28990 the other day (using the 1k EFTPOS card to bring price down) and now the same car is $32490. Think I'll be buying a used car instead…

Just became a member to let everyone know:
Nissan charges a $750.00 flat fee to setup your 1% loan. So if the car you are buying is $37500.00 the setup fee is already 2% of the value of the car.

Whats more, if you are buying a vehicle with GPS navigation they will give you two year old maps (latest map version available at time of manufacture they say but actually its at least a year older than the manufacture date). If you seek to get updated maps the cost of the SD Card maps is $750.00

Just thought i'd confirm the second paragraph here. I've got an 18month old T32 XTrail (quite happy btw). Sales people said of course they'll update the maps when it's serviced. Service people said, yes quite a few people have asked about updating maps. We should work out a way of doing that. But as above it's 700+ for the update.

      • +1

And people complain about Apple CarPlay…

      • O.o where are you getting maps to for $700? F that

    • +1

Durely some millenial somewhere has worked out a hack to update the GPS unit without having to pay Nissan $700. Couple of years ago i had a control unit go in my VZ Commodore, fix was a replacement unit at about $1K. A few hours of research on the net found out that when a control unit blew it was nearly always because of a faulty capacitor on the circuit board. A replacement capacitor kit was about $5 from memory from an enterprising chap on eBay. You bought the kit and a soldering iron, you followed the instructions and presto, fixed unit for about $30. Somebody must have worked out how to fix the maps and save $700.

What the hell is a balloon payment

    $700 for current maps- disgraceful

Hyundai/toyota are better for vehicle reliability and after sales service.
